VIDEO: Strike a Pose to Win Tyra’s First Fiercely Real Teen Model Search

Today, Tyra Banks announced her newest challenge to the modeling market: her first-ever plus-sized modeling competition for teens. Dubbed Tyra’s Fiercely Real Teen Model Search, the contest will hunt for curvy catwalk contenders aged 13-19 and between 5′ 9″ and 6′ 1″. So why tackle this ignored segment of the fashion market now? “I’ve always felt it was my mission to expand the narrow perceptions of beauty; through America’s Next Top Model, True Beauty and The Tyra Show I challenge industry and universal standards by featuring and celebrating non-traditional beauty, and stressing that true beauty is both inside and out,” she explains of the decision. “Plus-sized tends to have a negative connotation and I want young girls to realize that what’s considered plus-sized is the average American woman. That woman is healthy, fit and beautiful. Adolescence is such an impressionable time in a young woman’s life, and I hope this contest helps teen girls discover their own beauty from the inside out.” Think you might have what it takes to conquer the catwalk and earn a one-year contract with Wilhelmina, magazine cover and more? Click over to tyrashow.warnerbros.com to learn how to enter — and learn more from the supermodel herself on how to pose for your audition only at tyra.com!

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Get in Touch With Their Inner Tech Geeks To Build TheRow.com

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty

With the addition of sunglasses and menswear to their luxe label, The Row, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are bringing the line into the digital arena with the launch of the line’s website, therow.com. And though e-commerce won’t be set up until late summer 2010, TheRow.com gives its viewers a very up-close and personal view of its collection — something that wasn’t easy for the designers to achieve. “I have to admit we’re not that tech-savvy,” Ashley tells Style.com, “But we’re constantly learning and discovering new things on the web.” The first step was to scour the web for inspiration. “We looked at a lot of different web sites before we started working on our own, and we thought most of them were too loud. We wanted The Row web site to be subdued and very direct,” says Mary-Kate. Not finding any they liked out there, Mary-Kate and Ashley looked to their collection for inspiration for their new online home. “All of the background visuals are high-res images of actual fabric swatches from our collections,” Mary-Kate reveals. “We wanted the viewer to really see all of the details of the beautiful fabrics we use—washed red silk charmeuse, the scales of our python skins, our cashmere modals. We wanted it to feel like you could reach out and touch everything.” And despite their lack of tech know-how, they were still hands-on. “We worked on every single piece of imagery and content on the web site directly. It was a very hands-on experience, which I didn’t expect — it felt more like making a beautiful collage than a web site team,” says Mary-Kate. ‘Jersey Shore’ Star Snooki’s Secret Diet Weapon: Cookies!

INF

Since Jersey Shore made a huge splash on MTV, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has gained instant fame and a legion of fans that have embraced her signature pouf as much as her feisty personality. But the one thing that’s changed in her life which Snooki isn’t happy about? She’s packed on a few pounds. “When I was at the shore I didn’t eat the right things, I drank a lot,” Snooki told PEOPLE at the Shrine Lounge and Nightclub at the MGM Grand Foxwoods. “I was definitely out of shape.” Now focused on “getting in shape again” and dropping one dress size, the spunky 4’9″ star has started on the Cookie Diet—a weight loss program that consists of eating six cookies a day made with natural hunger-suppressing ingredients such as oats and a healthy dinner. “Instead of having steak for meals, I just have a salad,” says Snooki, 22, who also goes to a cheerleading gym and hits the treadmill several times a week. And for those nights she still wants to go out and have a good time?  “If you want to go out,” Snooki suggests, “just drink a light drink.” (Her personal fave: The bubble gum cocktail) Despite her new focus on her figure, the Marlboro, N.Y. native is determined to remain healthy in Hollywood. “I know I’m in the limelight but I’m not going to be one of those girls who is a stick like everyone else,” says Snooki, who recently revealed she suffered from an eating disorder in high school. “I’m not copying anybody else. I’m just being myself and I’m happy.” –reporting by Diane Herbst

WATCH: Tom Ford Dishes on Red Carpet Fashion and Best Dressed Lists

Tom Ford may be receiving accolades as a film director for A Single Man, but that doesn’t mean that being a fashion designer is ever far from his mind. With an already successful men’s collection and a women’s collection on the way, the former Gucci and YSL designer talked red carpet fashion to PEOPLE at last night’s SAG Awards. But like the true style arbiter he is, he reminds us that “awards clothes don’t ever represent what’s happening with fashion.” See our picks for Best Dressed at the SAG Awards here!
