Audrey Hepburn’s Iconic Wardrobe Fetches $435,180

courtesy of Kerry Taylor auctions

Audrey Hepburn’s enduring status as a fashion legend was solidified on Tuesday, when more than 40 items from her closet raised a staggering $435,180 at a London auction. One highlight of the sale at Kerry Taylor Auctions was the Givenchy Chantilly lace cocktail dress that she wore in the 1966 film How to Steal a Million, which rang in at $97,270. Another more sentimental garment was her ivory satin bridal gown, commissioned by the actress while she was filming Roman Holiday and planning her nuptials to British industrialist James Hanson. When she later pulled out of the wedding, she asked the designers to give the dress away to the “most beautiful, poor Italian girl you can find.” And so the couture gown made by the Fontana sisters was given to Amabile Altobella, who wore the piece to marry a local farm worker before donating it to the auction. “The collection made double the pre-sale estimate,” said auctioneer Kerry Taylor, who organized the event. “It has been a privilege to handle this collection, the like of which will never be seen again.” With a percentage of the proceeds from the sale going to The Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund, it seems a fitting tribute to the much loved and perennially chic actress-turned-philanthropist. Fantasy Turned Reality: Kylie Bisutti On Winning Victoria’s Secret’s Modeling Contest

Charles Eshelman/FilmMagic

Kylie Bisutti has fantasized about becoming a Victoria’s Secret model ever since she was a little girl. Last Tuesday, the Nevada native’s dreams came true when she was named the winner of the company’s first-ever model search after appearing on their televised fashion show striding down the catwalk in a black jewel-encrusted bra and panties. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Bisutti shares her excitement. “When Heidi Klum announced my name, I was speechless. I couldn’t even believe it!” The 19 year-old describes her odyssey, which began when her mother-in-law first tipped her off about the contest: “When I found out about the casting call I did double-time at the gym. In October, they [Victoria’s Secret] saw 10,000 girls across the U.S., narrowed it down to ten, and flew us to New York. We had to compete for three weeks and live together in a loft downtown. America voted it down to five, then two, and voted again and chose the winners.” The newlywed laughs about how she’s been rehearsing her strut at home, “Whenever I’m at our house, even if I’m just going to brush my teeth or to get something out of the fridge, I’m always practicing my runway walk,” she admits. Look out for more of Bisutti in the next Victoria’s Secret catalog, shooting on location in St. Barts this week. -K.C. Baker

Victoria Beckham’s Secrets To Her Success: Hard Work And Being Bullied

Fame

When it comes to expanding her burgeoning fashion empire, Victoria Beckham has adopted a slow-but-steady philosophy, telling WWD: “It’s about doing things gradually and building the brand in a strategic way. With everything that I do, I will only do it after I’ve done all my homework. I really am a perfectionist.” The former Spice Girl’s approach has proven effective, as she’s already on her fourth season as a designer, and just debuted re-vamped sunglasses and denim lines to add to her range of dresses (which already counts Blake Lively and Jennifer Lopez as fans)—all of which is projected to drum up $7.5 million in sales next year. In a recent sit-down with the newspaper, Beckham reflects on her determination to succeed. “I’ve always been driven. I was mentally and physically bullied when I was at school and that gave me a very thick skin… I have always been a fighter. I have always had to work very, very hard with everything I do. That is just my work ethic…That’s my DNA.” Never one to rest on her laurels, Beckham adds, “I’m my competition. I want to do better next season than I did this season. And I’m sure the season after that I will want to beat myself again.” To shop her collection, go to net-a-porter.com.

Last night’s episode of Gossip Girl might have been all about Serena van der Woodsen’s (played by Blake Lively) affair gone wrong, but we couldn’t take our eyes off of Blair Waldorf’s (played by Leighton Meester) sophisticated winter white look. While playing the supportive girlfriend to Chuck Bass (played by Ed Westwick), Blair accompanied him around the city looking the picture of Upper East City chic wearing an ivory Escada coat over a houndstooth Alexander McQueen blouse, Lanvin cap toe pumps and toting her coveted Valentino bag. We love Blair’s look, but unfortunately, we don’t have her budget! So forget the labels, we found Blair’s head-to-toe look with nothing over $100! Shop Blair’s style from last night here.
