Olivia Wilde’s High-Fashion Goal: “I Even Dream of Buying A Balmain Jacket”

Courtesy Lucky

While it may seem that most Hollywood actresses have luxe labels at their fingertips, House‘s Olivia Wilde still has a lengthy wish list when it comes to fashion. Lucky‘s latest cover girl tells the magazine, “I even dream of buying a Balmain jacket with really sharp shoulders. If I can pull off that look, I will have succeeded, at least partially, in my quest.” As for her desire to achieve Parisian-chic style, we think Olivia is already there–even sans the Balmain. For one thing, there’s the 25 year-old’s love of hipster, biker leather. “A cool leather jacket is my security blanket. No matter what I have on underneath, I feel more like myself when I’m wearing one,” she says. When it’s time to add to her outerwear collection, the starlet’s go-to resource is refreshingly mainstream: “Coats from H&M are inexpensive and usually have something extra going on—so even with a simple sheath dress, your outfit is still interesting,” she says. The down-to-earth actress also favors Helmut Lang staples for their versatility. “I own a lot of Helmut Lang. The pieces are practical in the sense that you can wear them every day, but they’re not boring at all.” Check out more of Olivia Wilde’s fashion and beauty picks in the January issue of Lucky, on newsstands December 8, or at luckymag.com.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Holiday Shopping List

Soul Brother/FilmMagic

Gwyneth Paltrow takes a shot at solving the holiday gift conundrum and offers a slew of recommendations and exclusive discounts on her site, GOOP.com. The actress gravitates toward personalized presents (“What better way to show someone your love?” she says), like Em Tanner’s melamine plates, which can be customized with cartoon portraits of your family members, and that Paltrow reveals “quickly became a colorful basic in my kitchen this year.” The one-of-a-kind framed prints she discovered while shopping at a toy store in Brooklyn, made to order with a figurine in your child’s likeness along with his or her name, also made her cut, along with L.L. Bean’s classic-preppy monogrammed canvas totes—“a must-have on all my trips,” declares Paltrow. And from her own aromatherapist (who also counts Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio as clients), of whom the 37 year-old star says, “Every time I visit Dr. Sharon I leave feeling relaxed, bright and new,” there’s a kit comprised of scented candle and fragrant oil, which Paltrow suggests rubbing “on your wrists, behind your ears, and on your temples,” for de-stressing and pampering. See more of Paltrow’s suggestions at GOOP.com. Tell us: What do you think of Gwyneth’s gift picks?

SJP Looks Back On Her Red Carpet Highlights to Glamour

DM/Splash News Online; LL/Getty; JL/Startraks

Sarah Jessica Parker took a walk down memory lane with Glamour recently, reminiscing about some of her more noteworthy looks. Highlights include the stunning voluminous dress she wore to the Sex and the City premiere in New York: “This entire dress weighed about a quarter of an ounce; it was one of the last Olivier [Theyskens] did for Nina Ricci,” as well as the beaded, corseted ball gown she donned for the Oscars earlier this year. “This was an old Christian Dior. It was the most amazing color; it was like pewter. It was minty and pistachio and far prettier than in the photographs,” she said. A custom maternity frock also ranks among her favorites, “Narciso Rodriguez made this: It was the reinvention of the maternity dress. I love that dress. I love the shoes, too; those were made for me by Mr. Blahnik. And my hair was super short: Serge Normant did my hair, which was very sweet of him considering that it was a very odd length.” While “odd” is hardly how we’d describe SJP’s style, we’re charmed by her candor as always. Melissa Rycroft Chooses Alfred Angelo for Her Wedding Dress

For her upcoming wedding to Tye Strickland, former Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars star Melissa Rycroft will walk down the aisle wearing an Alfred Angelo bridal gown. “It’s so cliché you always hear everyone say ‘you know it when you see it,’ and absolutely it was the first dress I saw and the very first dress I tried on, and I just knew it. I love it,” said Rycroft on Good Morning America. The former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader has not revealed the details of her dress, but said the theme of her wedding would be “laid back and fun — that’s me. I’m not stuffy or anything like that.” Alfred Angelo designer Michael Shettel, who also designed The Biggest Loser winner Michelle Aguilar’s wedding gown, is honored the reality star selected one of his gowns. “Melissa’s a beautiful woman, inside and out. She has a fabulous personality, and I am thrilled to work with her for her very special day,” said Shettel. Rycroft proved her resilience after Bachelor star Jason Mesnick broke off their engagement on national TV — she started dating Strickland, her hometown sweetheart, soon after and was planning their wedding six months later. Want to know more about Melissa’s gown style? Stay tuned for more coverage on Alfred Angelo’s Web site. Tell us: Are you excited to see what Melissa’s dress looks like?
