And now the pop star is planning on bringing her luxe lifestyle to every girl. The jewelry designer sat down with London’s Radio One to announce plans to open a rental fashion store, reports British Vogue. “It’s about making fashion democratic. The singer and her sister will start breaking ground on their plan to open “Lucy In Disguise” in March 2010. “It’s about getting really nice clothes but letting people rent them for affordable prices so they can go out and feel like a million dollars and it won’t cost them a million dollars,” she says. Get Kate Hudson’s Cute Coats–For Less!

Flynet; XPosure; INF

To ward off chilly London temps, Kate Hudson, who is in the U.K. to promote her new movie Nine, came prepared with an arsenal of chic, highly covetable outerwear. First, Kate turned up in a sleek black cashmere Jasmine Di Milo number for a shopping trip, only to amp things up for evening in a studded Temperley London jacket worn over an ornate (and color coordinated) black and gold Topshop party dress. Keeping up her cozy-but-glamorous vibe, Kate stepped out the following day for a radio interview in a girly, ruffle hemmed wrap coat, again by Jasmine Di Milo, on top of a pink leopard print shift by Simone. We love all her looks, but can’t exactly afford the same big ticket items as Kate…so we tracked down similar items for far less. Click here to shop for coats like Kate’s.

So Far, So Good: Sara Rue Loses 7 Pounds In 5 Days On Jenny Craig

Benkey/JPegFoto/PictureGroup

It’s only been five days since she started on the Jenny Craig weight management program and actress Sara Rue is already down seven pounds, she tells PEOPLE. “For me, it was key that I started on Saturday (after Thanksgiving) because I didn’t have any distractions, I didn’t have to be anywhere. I could just focus on planning my meals and getting a good start on the weekend,” says the Eastwick star, who was announced as Jenny Craig’s new celebrity spokesperson Wednesday. Rue confessed that the biggest challenge for her is being so open about her weight. “I’m a very private person so talking openly about this is hard. But when the news broke on PEOPLE.com, I twittered about it and people were so supportive twittering back,” Rue said, noting that her first five days of dieting were surprisingly easy. “I do not feel deprived at all. There is so much food. I was eating all the food and I was sure I was gaining weight,” she says, laughing. Rue credits her two dogs for helping her adhere to daily walks, and enjoys hiking with her fiancé, education consultant Kevin Price. “I kind of like the idea of getting to January 1 and I’m already doing my New Year’s resolution,” Rue says. “But there’s nothing you can’t have on this plan. You just have to remember that nothing tastes as good as the first bite.” –Monica Rizzo

Hilary Duff on Fame, Family, and Fashion Must-Haves

Courtesy Nylon

If you’ve ever wondered what being a Hollywood actress really feels like, talk to Hilary Duff, who tells Nylon, “I walked into a mall one day and was mobbed by people. And I just remember feeling really different than everyone else. I felt really loved. But it was weird at the same time.” Things got even more surreal when she signed on to play a starlet this season on Gossip Girl: “I was a little hesitant. It was kind of close to home… then I realized, I would never say something [that Olivia says] like, ‘Oh, this is just for the cameras.’” Her close relationship with her mother helps keep her grounded. “My mom is rad. I feel I’m so much like her.” The newly minted fashion designer—her label, Femme for DKNY Jeans, debuted in stores this fall—also gives readers a glimpse into the thought process behind developing her own line. “I designed clothing that I feel are staples for my closet. Every girl needs a great leather jacket, and every girl needs a skinny pair of black jeans.” Hear more from Duff in the January issue of Nylon, or at nylonmag.com.
