Heidi Klum: "I'm Proud of Being the Curvy Model"

Richie Buxo/Splash News Online

Heidi Klum didn’t plan on walking the runway of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night, but let’s just say she’s a little bit impulsive. “I felt great the night of the fashion show and decided last minute to walk,” the supermodel, 36, who welcomed daughter Lou, with husband Seal, last month, tells PEOPLE exclusively. Klum, who had already been fitted for her dress, opened the Enchanted Forest-themed part of the show, wearing a vine-strewn corset and a full white skirt. “I loved my outfit,” she says, “so I thought, why not?” Her surprise appearance, known only to Victoria’s Secret insiders, drew screams and applause from a shocked audience during the live show Thursday night. Though Klum, who was expected only to host the festivities, said that while her new job behind the scenes meant there was “definitely less pressure,” walking in the show was a thrill for her. “I’m proud of being the curvy model on the Victoria’s Secret stage,” she says, adding that she enjoyed the show herself. “The Black Eyed Peas and all of the looks for the show were fantastic!” You can watch Heidi — and all the Angels — hit the runway when the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airs on CBS at 10pm EST on Dec. 1.–Charlotte Triggs

She is not curvy and she is not doing new moms any favors by making people think that is a one-month post-baby body. She probably had a tummy tuck, has a personal trainer and a cook plus, it is her job to look like that. We should not forget her looks is what makes her so much money.

she’s used to be super thin so to her she probably does feel fat…when you have a job where its your THIN BODY that makes you $$ its def. a concern when you put on weight regardless of the cause/reason…I can understand why she was cautious.

Ok…. in one breath she says she ‘needs to lose 20 lbs’ — then in the next breath she says she’s ‘proud to be the curvy model’. She’s not curvy. As a woman who has ALWAYS struggled to find clothes that fit nicely because I do have genuine curves, this is just purely insulting! She’s NOT curvy — she wants to drop the 20 lbs, not keep it, so that tells me, she’s just politely saying she doesn’t mind ‘being fat’ for a while. Pff…. Heidi, get a life, and all the rest of these anorexic models can too!! I’m so sick of seeing these people in magazine ads and on TV/Internet. They ALL promote unhealthy body weight and image and make it so that it’s glamourous to be overly skinny. I used to think Heidi was down to earth but after her commentary on her ’20 lbs’, I’m so P.O’d at her. She has NO IDEA what curvy is, nor will she ever. She’s built a career on being a stick chick. Pfff!!!I agree with others who have posted here — you wanna see curvy? Put Christina Hendricks on the catwalk — THAT is curvy!!!

Don’t you just love Heidi! I often wonder what the perfect body is for people telling Heidi is ‘curvy’. She looks perfect and – more importantly – very healthy. As she is now, she is a fantastic rolemodel for young (and old…) women: bubbly, fantastic personality and a great body. Go Heidi!

I wished that I had the discipline to look like that five weeks after giving birth. It’s been five years, and I’m still 20 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight. She looks great and should be enjoying her family instead of worrying what others think. They’re just jealous.

She’s most definitely curvy. I’ve seen curves on women before, and she definitely has them. Long, wonderful curves that I’m sure make Seal a very happy man.

Those of you bagging on the term “curvy” probably have a lot of self-confidence issues. Last I looked, a full set of curves was what most guys were looking for.

Euh… Curves? Where????

I disagree with most of the posters here. Our society has become so overweight, we have deluded ourselves into thinking that being overweight equates to being “curvy”. You’ve been describing yourselves as “curvy” in an attempt to make yourselves feel better about the fact that you cannot lose that weight. It isn’t fooling anyone, fat is still fat.

I do agree with Heidi’s assessment that she is curvy. She’s got boobs, butt, and a thin waist–what’s there to complain about?
