Creatively, I find that her bold and surreal style is ultimately very refreshing. She doesn’t do it to be crass, she doesn’t do it to look like Madonna, and she doesn’t do it to look like Cher, either, but I wonder if there’s any heritage of style there? and she doesn’t try to look like Brittney Spears! How many more ways can I say, her style is truly original?

I have a sense that that she’s not anyhow perturbed if some people don’t like her style, though I’ve noticed that some people don’t. It’s not for everyone, I guess — if simply for how unconventional her choices of style can be — but it’s not exclusive either. I think she does a great job of riding the popular storm, in a real and honest way. It’s impressive, is what I’m saying.

I do admire the creativity and the b@lls it takes to dress the way she does and actually go outside in it. That said, I don’t think I’d define it as “style”. I think style comes from knowing who you are as a person and finding ways of projecting that in your clothing, and that can be in very creatively fashion forward ways. I think Rihanna has style. I think Lady Gaga doesn’t know who she is from one day to the next and is actually hiding behind her outrageous costumes because she thinks they’re more interesting than she is.

Yeah, I totally like her yellow/reddish hair, newspaper skirt, blue lipstick… Oh wait, that’s Cyndi Lauper I’m thinking of. I guess GaGa isn’t the only one…nor as original as the media points her out to be. So, Cyndi, Bjork, Siouxsie, Annie, Boy George, Dale Bozzio, Kate Bush, Grace Jones, Madonna, Gwen… Gaga is more of a compilation; a greatest hits package.
