Valerie Bertinelli Reveals the Secrets Behind Her Bikini Body Fitness Routine

On Rachael Ray today, Valerie Bertinelli and her trainer Christopher Ross Lane reveal how the star got her amazing bikini-body at 49 years old. The best news is you can follow her routine at home — just like Valerie. “He came up with a program that was so simple. Not easy, but simple,” said the Jenny Craig spokesmodel, who just released an exercise video called Losing It and Keeping Fit. “It still takes a lot to do, but we need to tell everybody, because anybody can do this. We did it in my living room.” Lane stresses that Valerie’s workout routine was really “back to basics,” adding that he had the star doing “step ups on the coffee table.” “Your body is your own best tool!” the star trainer said. “You don’t need to have weights, you don’t need fancy equipment. You can just do a lot of squats.” Valerie even surprised herself—by learning to like running. “He said he’s going to make her a runner, and I was like ‘yeah right.’ The first twenty minutes I hate, I hate!” says Bertinelli, who lost 40 pounds on Jenny Craig. “And then once the endorphins kick in, it’s OK … and he had me running a half marathon.” See the full episode on today’s Rachael Ray.—Kristin Larson

I think the only reason people complain and say “you need to be rich” etc is because they’re looking for excuses not to “just do it.”

It’s free to work out at home (or go for a walk/run), and you have to eat anyway (just make healthy choices). That’s it. Not some mega-million dollar solution or time-consuming answer.

to drgnldy14…you don’t need to be a celebrity with a personal trainer, and it doesn’t take a lot to train and lose weight. You just need to make your health and well-being a priority. I am a single mother with two small children, a full-time job and a home to maintain. Regular exercise and a proper diet are a part of my daily routine, not only for myself but to teach a healthy lifestyle to my children. Not having the time or money is just an excuse people use to avoid changing their habits. Sad, but true. GO VAL!

OK, So she lost 40 pounds, good for her, but you would think that she was the only one in the entire English speaking world to ever do that. You have to keep in mind she was being paid by Jenny Craig to lose it and being oaid even more to endorse it. Incentive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If other, regular ordinary people could afford to buy the food, maybe there would be alot fewer obese people. Good for her, way to go, glad she feels and looks better, but quit shoving it down our throats, nobody cares anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I weighed 226+ 1.5 years ago – today I weigh 165. I have been on Weight Watchers since last year…and I walk every morning with my malti-poo and husband, sit-ups, push-ups and leg-lifts every other day. The weight has been gradual and I expect to reach my goal by the end of the year. I went from a size 20 to a size 10! Anyone can do it — you just have to wake up and make the decision “…I’m tired of being fat…”

To lose weight, you need to stop making excuses for yourself (I’m too poor, I don’t have time, etc), make a plan, and then just DO IT. Those who are criticizing Valerie’s weight loss plan are just whining.
