Jean Paul Gaultier To Design for Target!

FAME

Does this mean we can expect to see pointy cone-bra corset styles at Target? Mark your fashion calendars: Jean Paul Gaultier is doing a cheap chic collection for Target arriving in stores March 7, 2010. The collection will be available in 250 stores and online through April 11. Gaultier, known for his racy, theatrical, avant-garde styles, was one of the first designers to make lingerie fashionable — he designed the now ubiquitous cone-bra corsets for Madonna’s Blond Ambition tour in the Nineties. Always inspired by the world around him, WWD reports the Gaultier Target collection “pays tribute to the American woman, celebrating the forces of style both past and present in American pop culture.” Does that mean current fans Rihanna and Katy Perry, who attended his Paris runway show this month? Gaultier, who’s also the creative director at Hermes and who received the prestigious CFDA International Award in 2000, is the third guest designer in Target’s Designer Collaborations series, following Anna Sui last month and Alexander McQueen last spring. –Kristin Larson

Sadly, it won’t be in my lifetime that the deigsn world gets the message that REAL women are not size 0 nor are they a plus size at size 10!! I’m 51 yrs old and a proud size 16. I’m so tired of seeing beautiful clothes in tiny sizes, then walk into a store that carries the more mature sizes [as I like to call them] only to find nothing but tents and baggies pants!!! Excuse me? Just because we don’t fit the industry’s warped standard doesn’t mean we don’t deserves the exact same styles in our sizes!! C’mon, deigsners, wake up!! You are missing out on a HUGE target of shoppers. As for Chanel only using her face? Typical and disheartening. Maybe someday .P.S. Am I the only one that doesn’t see any difference in the bodies of the 3 in the Gaultier ad?? How is she defined as a plus model in the first place?? tsk tskDo you like this comment? 0 0
