Carrie Bradshaw is Back! Sarah Jessica Parker Debuts Her Sex and the City 2 Looks

Graylock/Abaca, Charles Sykes/AP(2)

We could hardly contain our excitement when a Sex and the City sequel was announced, and now, our favorite fashionista is getting back to work. Sarah Jessica Parker is creating her own fashion show on the streets of Manhattan as Carrie Bradshaw. She first appeared in a Halston Heritage dress, Solange Azagury-Partridge necklace, Chanel clutch and sparkling gold pumps, reappearing later in the day in another Halton Heritage dress of cobalt tiers paired with T-strap pumps. So far, so Carrie. But when she appeared today in full ’80s regalia, including — gasp! — sneakers and a frizzy do, we had to assume we were witnessing a flashback scene being filmed and not a radical departure from Miss Bradshaw’s style. Now, when do we get to see Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte back in action? Tell us: What do you think of Carrie’s first three looks on the set of the Sex and the City sequel?

Jay-Z might be one of the music industry’s major moguls, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to give back. And he’s doing just that with a new Rocawear T-shirt featuring African-American tennis great Arthur Ashe, who broke racial boundaries in 1975 when he won at Wimbledon. The limited-edition shirt will be sold at the 2009 US Open and celebrates the USTA National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network’s 40th anniversary, with proceeds from the shirt benefitting the NJTL and the Arthur Ashe Endowment for the Defeat of AIDS.. And even if you’re not at the event to see all of tennis’s most stylish players, you can support the cause by purchasing a T-shirt for yourself at USOpen.org for $36.

Mad Men‘s Makeup Artist Reveals the Secrets of the Stars’ Retro Style

M.A.C Cosmetics

If you’ve ever spent the better part of a Mad Men episode dreaming that you could look as glamorous as the show’s leading ladies, you’re in luck. The AMC period drama’s makeup department head, Lana Horochowski, is revealing precisely how she and her team transform the cast each week — and her secrets for recreating their retro style. Lana’s first on-set step was to create individual looks for each star to that reinforced her personality and identity. Curvy redhead Joan Holloway, played by, Christina Hendricks, is “always put-together, very sassy and sexy,” says Lana, who goes with a heavy eye with lots of liner and strip lashes for the star to play up her sex-appeal. The show’s classic blonde, Betty Draper (January Jones), on the other hand, has two distinct looks. “For home she is very natural, basically a sheer foundation, black eyeliner and mascara. Evening Betty goes a little thicker on the liner and a brighter lipstick, but always coordinated with her clothing.” And the secret to creating your own ’60s-inspired makeup look? “A great start would be lining the top lash line only with a gel liner like M·A·C Fluidline,” Lana says. We love this product for recreating the perfect ’60s eye.” When it comes to lips, “Replacing gloss and sheer or shimmer lipsticks with matte reds, bright pinks, and corals help create a more retro look,” she explains. Tell us: Which Mad Men star’s look would you love to channel?
