Christina Hendricks Tells InStyle Weddings About Falling In Love With Her Man — and Her Dress

Courtesy InStyle

Mad Men‘s gorgeously curvy Christina Hendricks is the latest engaged actress to grace the cover of InStyle Weddings. Inside the fall issue, she talks about finally finding love, and the intimate details of her upcoming nuptials to (500) Days of Summer‘s Geoffrey Arend. “Before I met Geoffrey, marriage just wasn’t that important to me. Once I fell in love, it became this very exciting idea to share my life with him and throw a wedding to celebrate.” She continues, “It was worth the wait — I wasn’t ever going to settle.” And settling isn’t something she was willing to do when it came to her wedding dress either — and luckily for her, it was another case of love at first sight. “It was the very first dress I tried on. It’s got a bit of Sophia Loren to it, but really, it’s a Christina Hendricks dress,” she says of the Carolina Herrera gown she’ll walk down the aisle in. And while she’s still keeping her final wedding day look under wraps, Christina does try on curve-flattering looks by Pronovias, Oscar de la Renta and Watters in the magazine’s pages, which hits newsstands today.

Boy George on His Clothing Line — And Musical Inspiration

Courtesy of Talenthouse.com

After a few tough years marred by skirmishes with the law, Boy George tells PEOPLE that he’s back and more focused than ever on his creative projects, which include a new album of covers and a clothing collection. His clothing line, B-Rude, “which is mostly our printed and bejeweled apparel,” he says, has been around for a few years but is picking up steam again, selling at b-rudeuk.com. And the line already has some pretty famous fans. “We just made some one-off stuff for the delightful Debbie Harry for her recent tour, which was both a thrill and seriously cool,” he says. “And we also dressed Kylie Minogue for the finale of her last worldwide tour!” A star fan-base doesn’t, however, mean that Boy is courting Hollywood’s elite. “We don’t target the kind of people who wear money, you know, those that would kill to have the latest designer handbag,” he explains. “We are more for the disenfranchised. We have a punk attitude, I guess.” But just because he’s putting his own spin on fashion doesn’t mean he’s retiring from music. The singer is working on a very personal album of covers, choosing songs that “feel [as if] it was written for you and these are the songs I’m planning to record. I’m choosing songs that speak to me and have lyrics that reflect my personal journey and experiences.” He’s also using the web to discover new collaborators for his upcoming dance track “Yes We Can,” through a contest on talenthouse.com. “I feel it’s a very refreshing idea. I’m pretty excited to find artists through Talenthouse and see what people do with my song. Absolutely, I can’t wait!” We can’t wait to hear the final track — and see his newest designs too! Has Ugly Betty‘s Wilhelmina Slater Turned Recessionista?

Andrew Eccles/ABC

While Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw has shown no signs of letting go of her designer duds — she has already been spotted in two pairs of Christian Louboutin pumps!Ugly Betty‘s Wilhelmina Slater, played by Vanessa Williams, looks to be cutting back on spending due to the recession. WWD caught up with the actress at a charity event in Dallas on Tuesday night where she told them, “With the economic situation what it is, we scaled down in terms of the type of clothing that we’re getting.” So what does that mean exactly for the Mode editor-in-chief? “There was a Naeem Kahn dress that went for $3,000, and they watched it and watched and by the time we got it, it was like $800. So we are being mindful of the budget and waiting for markdowns on Ugly Betty,” says Vanessa. Other than shopping sales, Ugly Betty’s costume department is also scooping out the vintage bins. “With the [Thierry] Mugler, which we did a lot last season, we’ve gone through a lot of stuff that is late ’80s, early ’90s, which is fantastic — a lot of stuff I used to wear when I was recording back in the day,” says Vanessa. “So I would have deja vu moments of, ‘Didn’t I wear this on stage already?’” We can’t wait to check out Ugly Betty‘s sure-to-be unique take on recession fashion. The third season will premiere on October 9 on ABC. Tell us: Will you be watching Ugly Betty this season?
