Katharine McPhee Dishes On Going Blonde

Humberto Carreno/Startraks

It’s been over a month since Katharine McPhee gave PEOPLE an exclusive sneak peek at her new platinum look on her album cover. Yet she still managed to wait until Fashion Week to reveal the look on the red carpet. Katharine spoke with PEOPLE backstage at the Tommy Hilfiger show in Manhattan’s Bryant Park tents about what prompted her to trade her signature sexy brunette style for being a blonde-bobbed bombshell. “I have a record coming out in January called Unbroken,” she explains, “and I’ve been working on it for the last year and it’s been a big artistic development. It sort of felt like I was shedding skin, so I was literally shedding layers of hair.” Tell us: What do you think of Katharine’s blonde hair? –Reporting by Jeffrey Slonim

Katharine McPhee is gorgeous, and her voice is phenomenal, but this blond hair just doesn’t suite her. Bring those dark, shiny locks back girl!

cin

not her color at ALL! she looks fake & washed out. dark brown was great & enhanced her eyes.

jillian

um…why did she do that???? not cute.

I agree. I bought her first album and love it. I think her voice is phenominal. However, with that being said, I like her dark shiny hair best. Good luck on your new album, can’t wait.

Halley

I have absolutely no idea why these women, gorgeous women, with gorgeous dark hair, jack it up by going blonde. Haven’t they ever heard, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?”

amy

Go back to your beautiful brunette hair!

Cindy

Looks dried out.

vanessa

UGH! This does not look close to natural! Fake fake fake.

Jeanie

I loved her dark hair….why does she want to look ordinary like the rest….gosh, she should have consulted Catherine Zeta Jones…..
