FASHION FACEOFF Miss Piggy vs. Lady Gaga in Marc Jacobs!

Marion Curtis/PictureGroup, Dimitrios Kambouris/Wi

First her man, and now her style! Looks like Lady Gaga has a lot in common with Miss Piggy these days. When the outrageous pop star showed up to the VMAs arm-and-arm with Kermit the Frog, we knew Miss Piggy wouldn’t be happy. But to add insult to injury, Lady Gaga turned up at the Marc Jacobs show wearing the exact same dotted dress Marc Jacobs had customized for the Muppet! And while Lady Gaga might hang out with Madonna and be the talk of New York Fashion Week, you just can’t mess with a feisty pig. We’re sure Miss Piggy isn’t going to stay quiet for long, but until then… Tell us: Who rocks Marc Jacobs better: Miss Piggy or Lady Gaga?

Gucci and Mary J. Blige Light Up the Empire State Building

Amanda Schwab/Startraks

Last month we brought you word of Gucci’s limited-edition Twirl watch for Mary J. Blige’s charity Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now. And today the R&B star and the luxury brand made sure all of New York City knew about their mutual admiration by lighting up one of Manhattan’s most famous icons: the Empire State Building. Standing alongside Gucci America’s President, Daniella Vitale, Blige ceremoniously flipped the switch to flood the landmark in white, yellow, and purple light. “I’m so proud of the colors that we’ve chosen,” Blige told reporters, “because they represent the colors of a mythical bird called the phoenix, which never, ever dies — it just keeps regenerating itself out of beautiful things.” This is exactly the spirit that Blige hopes to inspire in women through FFAWN. But why pick Gucci for this memorable partnership? “Gucci is the woman’s store,” a Gucci-clad Blige told PEOPLE. “You can dress it up, dress it down, it’s perfect.” And today, September 16 only, shoppers can shop for a cause at Gucci’s 5th Avenue New York City Flagship store, with a percentage of their purchase going towards FFAWN. If you’re not in the Big Apple and happen have a spare $1895 lying around, you can get the limited-edition watch online and at Gucci stores starting tomorrow.– Shruti Dhalwala

Shakira On Her Accidental Fashion Faceoff: “You’re Going to Wear a One-Of-A-Kind’”

Kevin Mazur/Wireimage

After seeing double at the VMAs, Shakira took to the airwaves on 102.7 KIIS FM’s On Air With Ryan Seacrest and talked about her real life fashion faceoff with Pink, in crystal-studded leather Balmain minidresses. “The funniest thing is that my stylist told me, ‘You’re going to wear a one-of-a-kind dress, nobody else in the world has it!’ And I was like, well, you know, I like the dress I don’t really care if anybody else has it or not — but how was I going to imagine that Pink had the same dress! Luckily I was on the red carpet first, so technically…” she jokes of her wore-it-first status. And Shakira discovered that her style competition took a similarly light-hearted attitude to the incident. “I approached Pink and I was like, ‘Pink, look at us, look at us!’ And she’s like, ‘oh my god, this is the funniest thing, get out of here!’” Click below to hear Shakira talk about the night. Tell us: Would you be able to laugh off a real life fashion faceoff as well as Shakira and Pink?
