Fashionistas (and Madonna!) Go Gaga at Marc Jacobs

Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage

In the front row at the Marc Jacobs show on Monday night, fashionistas were abuzz about Lady Gaga’s four costume changes at the MTV awards the night before. “Provocative, daring, uncomfortable. . .fun,” said Joe Zee, Creative Director of Elle. “I don’t know if she will look normal,” he said of her slated appearance at the Marc Jacobs show, “…but she will definitely wear Marc.” And while Madonna made it to her seat before the show started promptly at 8:00 p.m., Lady Gaga, holding hands with Jacobs’s partner Lorenzo Martone, stood watching from the entrance. After the show, she ran straight backstage, telling the waiting photographers, “I need to see Marc first . . . please.” And not only did she find Marc, but she found Madonna as well for an air-kiss and a photo-op. So what did the pop divas think of the show? “I loved it, I loved it, I loved it,” Madonna enthused, while Lady Gaga expounded, “Every season still takes my breath away. It was breathtaking. I love Marc Jacobs. Life is a red carpet, and tonight the red carpet is his.” She continued, “The show was amazing. I love the ballet scenes and the romantic ruffles, the Japanese makeup…When you’re watching Marc Jacobs, life is a stage. I was hyperventilating.” So was the crowd when Lady Gaga took to the stage at the V magazine party later that evening (that Jacobs hosted), leaving her delicate Marc Jacobs black and silver dress behind for a daring red stage costume. FIRST LOOK: Audrey Tautou’s Inspired New Chanel No. 5 Images

Courtesy Chanel

It’s been nearly a year since French film star Audrey Tautou filled the shoes of Nicole Kidman as the face of Chanel No 5. And with her film Coco Before Chanel slated to debut on September 25th and a new print campaign for the fragrance about to launch, the actress is talking how playing Coco Chanel brought her new perspective to her role as the face of the fragrance — and sharing her latest Chanel No 5 ads. “The feature film enabled me to learn a lot more about Coco Chanel,” Audrey says of playing the style icon. “She was an innovator, ahead of her era. The fact that she created a fragrance in the 1920s that could just as easily have been created yesterday reflects the standard of excellence that applied to everything she did in her life.” She continues, “By playing Coco and getting to know her, I understood, even more, just how unique N°5 really is.” Tell us: What do you think of Audrey’s new images for Chanel No 5? Will you see Coco Before Chanel when it hits theaters next week?

EXCLUSIVE: Ashley Greene Picks Her Best Dressed Stars at the VMAs

Scott Gries/PictureGroup

As the night’s fashion correspondent for MTV, Ashley Greene got to turn a critical eye on her fellow fashionistas. The New Moon star puts Beyonce, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift on her best dressed list. “In a night where silver, gold and black metallic minis ruled the red carpet, Beyonce stood out in her short red plunging [Roberto Cavalli] mini dress,” Ashley tells PEOPLE. “It was so sexy, yet completely tasteful at the same time.” And while many starlets went for sparkle, it was all about Katy’s mini by The Blonds for Ashley. “There were a lot of sparkly mini dresses, but Katy’s was my favorite,” she says.”The spikes rocked it up a bit and the fit was incredible on her body.” As for Taylor, Ashley admired her for channeling her inner princess. “Taylor looked stunning in her floor-length [Kaufman Franco] gown. I loved that she was one of the few who chose to wear a long dress — she looked straight out of a fairytale,” says Ashley. And, of course, Ashley loved her hunky New Moon co-star Taylor Lautner who walked the red carpet in a sleek Calvin Klein Collection suit. “He looked so handsome in his suit and I’m pretty sure all the fans agreed!” We definitely do! Avril Lavigne Shows Abbey Dawn Collection

Laurent/Bauer-Griffin

From the dark eye make-up and Converse sneakers on the models to the Avril Lavigne hits blasting through the speakers, there was no doubt who was running this show. Lavigne debuted the latest season of her Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne collection for Kohl’s Monday night at STYLE360 in New York City — this time, expanding the collection to include young girls as well as juniors. “It’s really for anyone of all ages,” Lavigne told PEOPLE about the line. “Girls who like to express themselves through fashion and go nuts and wear some cool rock and roll pieces.” With the catwalk models wearing everything from spiky accessories and neon prints to ripped leggings and studded cut-off shorts, Avril’s rock ‘n’ roll edge certainly came through. “The beauty with fashion is that you can just mix and match and that’s what I like to do. I love to wear dresses — sometimes! But if I wear a dress, I like to wear Converse or Doc Martens. Tonight, though, I did make myself wear high heels,” confesses the “Girlfriend” singer with a laugh. “It was really hard. I was going back and forth: Do I wear the heels or do I wear the Converse? And I was like, ‘All right, Avril, it’s your fashion show. You better wear the heels.’” But not for long. As soon as she ducked backstage, the signature Converse returned. As for Lavigne’s favorite piece in this year’s more colorful collection? “The hoodie with the drawstrings that have earbuds. You can listen to your music and have your iPod in the pocket. It’s really cool.” Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne is available in Kohl’s stores and on kohls.com. Kate Gosselin Debuts New Hairstyle on The View: “Isn’t It Cute?”

It’s a new View — and a new do — for Kate Gosselin. On her second day as guest cohost on the talk show, Kate debuted a new wavy look. “You have a new hairstyle. It’s a first!” said Barbara Walters, as Tuesday’s show began. Added co-host Joy Behar, “It looks cute!” Gosselin gave credit to the show’s makeup artists with an enthusiastic, “Your girls back there, whoo baby! Isn’t it cute?” Later in the program, Kate talked about why she’s still wearing her wedding ring even though she and Jon are divorcing. “I said very early on that I would continue to wear it for the kids,” she explains. “We’re not officially divorced yet, and you know, I’ve had it on for 10 years. It’s upsetting to the kids.” Kate also responded to Jon’s comments to Good Morning America last week that he “despises” Kate. “Of course it bothers me,” she said. “Am I going to return the favor? Absolutely not. I am a high-road taker.” Watch a clip of today’s show. Then tell us: What do you think of Kate’s new do?Jason Lynch

FRAGRANCE ALERT: Beyonce To Create a Signature Scent!

Gregg DeGuire/PictureGroup

Competition in the celebrity fragrance market just got a little fiercer. WWD reports that Beyonce has officially signed a deal with Coty Inc. — the same company who is responsible for Halle Berry, Sarah Jessica Paker and Gwen Stefani‘s scents — to produce her own perfume. “For me, fragrance reflects a woman’s attitude and unique sense of style,” Beyonce told WWD. “While I love various perfumes, I haven’t found a scent that truly personifies me as a woman. Working with Coty, I was able to turn my ideal fragrance into a reality by creating an alluring and sophisticated fragrance; one that’s reflective of my inner power.” And while this is Beyonce’s first shot at creating a scent, the superstar singer has fronted fragrance campaigns such as Tommy Hillfiger’s True Star in 2004 and Emporio Armani’s Diamonds fragrance in 2007. No details on what her scent will smell like, but Beyonce’s fragrance is set to hit stores this spring. We can’t wait to smell it — and see the ad campaign! Tell us: Will you buy Beyonce’s fragrance?
