US Open Gets More Stylish and Charitable with Jay-Z’s Help

Janet Mayer/Splash News Online

Jay-Z might be one of the music industry’s major moguls, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to give back. And he’s doing just that with a new Rocawear T-shirt featuring African-American tennis great Arthur Ashe, who broke racial boundaries in 1975 when he won at Wimbledon. The limited-edition shirt will be sold at the 2009 US Open and celebrates the USTA National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network’s 40th anniversary, with proceeds from the shirt benefitting the NJTL and the Arthur Ashe Endowment for the Defeat of AIDS.. And even if you’re not at the event to see all of tennis’s most stylish players, you can support the cause by purchasing a T-shirt for yourself at USOpen.org for $36.
