The Scoop on Paris Jackson’s Very First Haircut

Flynet

During a weekend getaway to Las Vegas with her brothers and grandmother, Paris Jackson decided it was time for a change: Michael Jackson‘s daughter got her first haircut, trading in her long tresses for a shorter look. “The stylist gathered up all of the hair that was cut and placed it in a plastic bag for Jackson to take,” a source tells PEOPLE. The youngster — accompanied by one of her aunts — apparently told other guests at Michael Boychuck’s AMP Salon in the Palms Casino Resort that this was her first ever haircut, the source added. While in the salon, the 11-year-old also had her fingernails painted a bright lime green to match the color of the Palms hotel limousines. The salon pampering came during a weekend in Vegas with the Jackson kids’ grandmother, Katherine, who kept a close eye on Paris and her two brothers, Prince Michael I, 12, and Prince Michael II (a.k.a. “Blanket”), 7, as they enjoyed swimming in the Palms’ pool and dining at hotspot N9NE Steakhouse. – Mark Gray

EXCLUSIVE: Real Housewives of New York Kelly Bensimon on her Navajo-Inspired Jewelry Line

inset: Joe Kohen/WireImage

The Real Housewives of New York star might have been wary of lending her name to a charity invitation last season, but now her moniker sits proudly on her own jewelry line. Kelly Killoren Bensimon has teamed up with Mouawad — the same brand that works with Nicole Richie — to create a Navajo-inspired jewelry line. “Everyone talks about being green and being respectful of America, but no one has done something that is Navajo-inspired,” Kelly tells PEOPLE. “Women love diamonds and sparkles, but nothing is sexier than Navajo-inspired bling.” The former Elle Accessories editor says she is aiming to make high-end costume jewelry affordable for every budget. Kelly’s pieces range from $30 medallions to $500 crystal adorned cuffs and include bangles and earrings that are meant to be layered. “When I teamed with Mouawad, I wanted to do something really sexy and cool and fun,” says Kelly. And while this marks Kelly’s third jewelry line — the first was a collection of medallions, the second a modern metal-inspired line — this time around, Kelly took inspiration from childhood memories of her mother. “My mother looked like Pocahontas and was obsessed with jewelry, so I really learned at young age how accessories can change your look in an inexpensive way.” Kelly will be showing her line at Fashion Week come September, but in the meantime, you can get your hands on it at intermixonline.com. Tell us: Will you buy Kelly Bensimon’s jewels?

WATCH: Anna Wintour to Letterman: “I’m An Alien, Remember?”

With Madonna‘s “Vogue” playing in the background and her signature dark sunglasses in place, Vogue’s infamous and iconic editor-in-chief brought high fashion to late night television with her first appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman. Anna Wintour took the hot seat to discuss the much-anticipated documentary The September Issue, which follows the Vogue staff as they put together the 840-page September 2007 issue with Sienna Miller on the cover. After gently ribbing Letterman about his socks and recommending that he look into cutting-edge menswear designer Thom Browne, Wintour settled into a chat about fashion, her persona and affordable fashion in these difficult economic times. Wintour showed her playful side by commenting that according to last week’s NY Times, “I’m an ice queen, I’m the Sun King, I’m an alien fleeing from District 9 and I’m a dominatrix. So I reckon that makes me a lukewarm royalty with a whip from outer space. What do you think?” She got more serious while discussing Fashion’s Night OutVogue and the CFDA’s huge N.Y.C-wide retail event on September 10 meant to create excitement over shopping and boost sales. And while most pieces in Vogue might be out of the average girl’s budget, Anna insists “what’s wonderful about fashion today is that it’s available to so many different people at so many different prices.” So if you had just $20 to spend on fashion, asked Letterman, how do you spend it? Anna says, “Well, you could buy lipstick.” Count us in. Tell us: What do you think of Anna Wintour’s appearance on The Late Show?

Real Housewife Ramona Singer Dishes on Her New Haircut: “I’m Renewing Myself”

Jerritt Clark/FilmMagic

When Ramona Singer returns to the Real Housewives of New York City for Season 3 of the reality show, there’s little doubt that she’ll bring along the same feisty attitude as always — but one thing definitely will be different about the reality star when filming starts in September: she’ll be rocking a short new do. Last weekend at the closing day of the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge at Blue Star Jets Field in Bridgehampton, Ramona debuted a softer, cropped coif and talked with PEOPLE.com about what prompted the change. “I’m renewing myself,” said Singer, “I went to Oscar Blandi and I wanted to get my hair trimmed. I needed a new look. And he said, ‘Okay, how short are you willing to go with it?’” While that question might terrify a less gutsy woman, Ramona’s never been accused of not living up to a challenge. “I never have it short,” said Singer. “And I said, here, at the shoulder,” she explains. “He said, ‘Do you trust me?’” And the end result was worth the risk, according to Ramona. “Afterward I said, ‘Oh, my God, I feel like an older Cameron Diaz‘ — very sexy and chic and young and hip. I loved it.” But the major benefit of the sexy new look? “You know what,” said Singer. “I washed it and I styled it in ten minutes. It’s fabulous.” –Jeffrey Slonim

Would You Wear Acid-Washed Jeans Like Ashley Tisdale?

RIV/Fame

She may not have been old enough to remember the ’80s properly, but Ashley Tisdale, who was born in 1986, is helping revive the decade by bringing acid-washed jeans back. The singer has been spotted out- and- about in L.A. wearing a pair of distressed acid-washed Jet jeans– and she’s not the only one! Trendsetter Nicole Richie has also been spotted rocking the same pair around town! While we will always fondly remember Molly Ringwald and Elisabeth Shue’s flower headpieces and taffeta dresses, we aren’t sure we have the same feelings towards acid-washed jeans. You be the judge! Vote on whether you want to see acid-washed jeans make a comeback.

Mischa Barton Turns Out To Celebrate I Heart Ronson

Rex USA

She’s got legs! And she knows how to show them. You wouldn’t guess from Mischa Barton‘s teensy miniskirt at a Manhattan bash for Charlotte Ronson’s I “Heart” Ronson JCPenney collection on Thursday night that she had been struggling with body issues recently. “The skirt is from Topshop and the shoes are (Alexander) McQueen,” Barton told PEOPLE at the Chelsea Piers fete. After a stint in a psychiatric ward last month, the 23-year-old former O.C. star has been focusing on getting in shape and filming her new CW show The Beautiful Life. “Filming is going great. It’s really good,” Barton told PEOPLE while mingling alongside stars like Hilary Duff and Sophia Bush. But the actress came out to support pal and fellow designer, Charlotte Ronson. “She’s such a talented girl — and a friend,” Barton smiled. And what can less-famous buyers expect of Ronson’s JCPenney fall line? Lower price points than her original eponymous label, for one. (Items range “from $14 to, maybe, up to $80 or $90 for a coat,” Ronson said.) But look forward to the same, I’m-chic-and-sexy-without-trying-too-hard vibe, with lots of plaid, layering, and toned-down color. “It’s not so much about glitz and stuff. It’s about wearing the clothes again and again,” she told reporters before the party. “We’re recession-friendly, in a sense, because the more you wear it, the better it looks.” Check out the I Heart Ronson line at JCPenney.com. –Laura Hahn
