Blake Lively’s Fashion-Filled Birthday! Plus: What’s Next for Gossip Girl

Jemal Countess/Getty

Blake Lively may have spent most of her day working, but the Gossip Girl star got to celebrate her 22nd birthday in a sexy Kate Moss for Topshop dress, starting with a stop at the Tiffany & Co. and InStyle party honoring Maria Sharapova and Frank Gehry — who collaborated on earrings the tennis star will wear during the US Open. But that was just the beginning. “I have nothing planned. I’m going to a lovely dinner, but it’s a surprise,” Lively told PEOPLE before being presented with a chocolate birthday cake at the party, but one can only assume that she spending the rest of the evening with her beau, Penn Badgley, as she coyly replied to PEOPLE about the most romantic date she’s ever been on, “I don’t know. Ask me tomorrow.” Birthday romance aside, Lively is excited about the upcoming season of Gossip Girl. “We were terrible in high school, so you can only imagine how wild we are in college,” she says. As for the season’s high profile guest appearances, “Hilary Duff is on for a few episodes and Tyra Banks makes an appearance also. I’ve known Tyra since I was a kid, so getting to work alongside her was great. She’s so gracious and kind and Hilary is just a fun, sweet girl. I love getting to know her and having people on that we really enjoy.” So, aside from Ed Westwick‘s character, Chuck Bass, smooching another man, what other mass texts will Gossip Girl be sending come fall? “A lot will be happening. Serena is looking for her father, so she’s focusing a lot on that and Chuck and Blair are finally a couple!” Lively reveals. New episodes of Gossip Girl will return to the CW on Sept 14. – Carlos Greer

K.C. Bailey

With her reality show and new fragrance on the way, Jessica Simpson is gearing up for a fabulous fall — and she’s already celebrating with Macy’s! For the past two weeks, the store’s Herald Square flagship has dedicated their windows to Jessica Simpson Collection’s fall line, and Jessica tells PEOPLE exclusively that it’s “a total thrill for me. I feel privileged just to be in business with such an iconic store.” She continues, “And it is an honor to know that Macy’s respects and believes in my brand so much that they chose to feature the Fall collection in the windows at one of their flagship stores! WOW…I feel blessed.”

But that’s not the only way that Jessica teaming up with Macy’s this fall — she’s also a part of their Come Together campaign, which is working with Feeding America to help families in need. And while Jessica may be goofing around in the star-filled commercial for the campaign — “I get to throw a baguette at Tommy Hilfiger, which is fun,” she jokes — she is deeply committed to the cause. “Hopefully this commercial will help raise money for Feeding America. It’s such an incredible charity. It’s amazing the numbers of how many people are hungry in America,” Jessica says. And Simpson is also helping the cause by throwing her own Coming Together dinner party to raise money. “I’ll definitely throw a dinner party. It might not be as tidy as a Martha Stewart dinner party, but I will cook up some good food – Southern style!” Jessica even has a guest-of-honor in mind. “The one person I would love to have at my dinner party is Dolly Parton. She’s always good with the laughter and the one liners.” Can we come too? EXCLUSIVE: Cassie Gives PEOPLE the Dirt on Her Clothing Collection

Courtesy DimePiece

There’s no denying that Cassie has quickly become one of music’s fiercest fashionistas, so what could make more sense than her hooking up with edgy sportswear label DimePiece? “I’ve been a fan of the line for a while,” she tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I randomly went on their website and ordered. They emailed me back, like, ‘Hey, we’d love to work with you,’” she explains of her happenstance link-up with the L.A. label. Cassie’s collection itself will be composed entirely of black and white garments, but she assures us that there will be nothing basic about the looks, which currently includes T-shirts and tank tops. “We’re still in the process of designing different things,” she explains of her creative collaboration with the label’s founders Ashley Jones and Laura Fama. “They are amazing girls with such eclectic style and I really admire that. They inspired me not to be afraid of fashion. Most people are so self-conscious, but with this line and how they’ve created it — it’s really amazing. I just wanted to be a part of it.” As for her own half-shaved skull which caused such a stir when she debuted it back in April, she says, “When I did the hairstyle, I hadn’t seen it on anyone else. It was just crazy, punk, off the wall.” Even Cassie herself has been caught off guard by how many girls copied the look after she did it. “After I did it, people sent me photos of other girls doing it,” she says. “So I wouldn’t say I was the first to do it, but I sort of made it mainstream.” Click here to see all of Cassie’s DimePiece collection. WATCH: Rachel Zoe’s Chanel Couture Fix for Cameron Diaz

So how fast can Rachel Zoe get her A-list clients gowns for the red carpet? In less than 24 hours, if last night’s premiere episode of Bravo’s The Rachel Zoe Project is to be believed. With less than a week to get dresses for Demi Moore, Debra Messing, Anne Hathaway, Cameron Diaz and Eva Mendes for last year’s Golden Globe Awards, Rachel’s team sprung into action. And while shipping caused more than a few headaches — Mendes’s Dior gown ended up at Chanel! — nothing compared to Rachel’s decision four days before the show to nab a pink Chanel Haute Couture gown for Diaz — only problem being that it had an unwanted sleeve and was still in Paris! Who was going to tell Karl Lagerfeld that the sleeve needed to go? Luckily for Diaz and Zoe alike, the altered gown arrived at Rachel’s studio the day before the awards. But as we knew they would, in the end, all of Rachel’s leading ladies “shut it down” at the Golden Globe Awards. We “die”! Watch a clip from last night’s show, and tell us: are you watching The Rachel Zoe Project this season?

VIDEO: Julia Stiles Parodies Eco-Friendly Star Designers

From Miley Cyrus to Gwyneth Paltrow, celebrities are flocking to create their own clothing lines. Well, now you can add Julia Stiles to the list — sort of. In this video, the actress pretends to launch “Julia Stiles Styles”, an environmentally-friendly line that clearly mocks celebrity fashion designers. With a suit made entirely out of newspapers complete with a Swifter tie and a T-shirt made from 10 different vintage cloths, Julia’s line is definitely more hilarious than wearable. Our favorite item has to be the “Save the Last Shants”, a shirt that can also be worn as pants which was inspired by a homeless man she met while filming in Belize and St. Tropez. But don’t expect to nab one of these styles for yourself — when you go to purchase items, they are “sold out” and a donation to the The Lunch Box Fund, “a great organization which provides impoverished children in the township schools of Alexandra and Soweto” is suggested instead. Check out her video above and for bonus footage and to get a closer look, visit her website juliastilesstyles.com.Tell us: What do you think of Julia Stiles Styles?

The Woman Behind Glamour‘s Plus-Size Buzz: “I Learned to Love My Body for How It Is”

Courtesy Glamour

For their September issue, Glamour put a refreshing spin on beauty, showcasing an underwear-clad 20-year-old plus-size model, who has the magazine’s readers applauding. After receiving many thank-you letters through the mag, the Wilhelmina model, Lizzi Miller, talked to Glamour.com about what it’s like to be garnering so much positive attention. “When I was young I really struggled with my body and how it looked because I didn’t understand why my friends were so effortlessly skinny,” she tells the magazine’s editor-in-chief Cindi Leive. “As I got older I realized that everyone’s body is different and not everyone is skinny naturally–me included! I learned to love my body for how it is, every curve of it. I used to be so self-conscious in a bikini because my stomach wasn’t perfectly defined. But everyone has different body shapes! And it’s not all about the physical! If you walk on the beach in your bikini with confidence and you feel sexy, people will see you that way too.” But Lizzi isn’t the only woman in the magazine who’s dealt with body issues. Cover-girl Jessica Simpson is putting her own positive spin on her “mom jeans” experience from earlier this year with a new reality show that explores beauty obsessions around the globe. Click here to hear more of Lizzi’s story; then check out Jessica’s September Glamour cover.
