FIRST LOOK: Twilight Barbie Dolls Are Here!

08/11/2009 at 11:58 AM ET

Twilight Barbie Dolls Pink Label Collection

If Twilight-inspired greeting cards and clothing weren’t enough to satisfy fan-pires’ desires, now they can add Edward Cullen and Bella Swan Barbie Dolls to their collections! As a tribute to the on-screen lovers, Barbie has created a set of dolls modeled after Robert Pattinson‘s Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart‘s Bella Swan. Featuring Robert’s strong jaw line and vampire-glow and Kristen’s long brunette hair and innocent face, the dolls are almost an exact replica of the stars. Looks like Bella’s wish for immortality is finally coming true! The Twilight Barbies, $25 each, will be available starting November 1, 2009 — just in time for the release of New Moon — at Walmart, Walmart.com and barbiecollector.com. Mark your calendars!

Just another way for teens and girls to waste all there money

Alicia M/ on

Jeez, what other money-making scheme will they think of next ?!!

Linda on

Well, they are a little pricey. But, for once they actually somewhat look like who they are suppose to be (at least Edward) and the barbie is covered up and modest. I love the books and the first movie I let my kids watch. So I’d probably get these just because they are recognizable and modest (unlike Bratz etc).

Sonia on

Jesus, these guys in the marketing dep, they are SO smart… Soon the wii game “how(not) to escape Andrew”???

John Wackman on

Right. The only question to ever, ever ask is: will it sell?? And only $25 a pop!

Lisa on

Barbies are for children, odd coming from Rob P who stated he hates children.

Alex on

The dolls are in no way an almost exact replica of the actors. The Bella doll looks way better than Kristen Stewart.

Courtney on

I’m… I’m in shock. I may be violently sick. I would buy these to burn them, but that’s not even worth $25 dollars. Whsat is the world coming to?

Wendy O on

I know what I’m asking Santa for xmas!!!

A on

Ohh no they did not!! Wow that is so lame!! ahahahah the sad thing is that people will actually buy them!!

Mason on

Yuck! Next, they’ll have Twilight golf balls and coffee mugs. Then they’ll get their own line of doughnuts. Its just a fad! How serious can you be? Hey Mattel, just go ahead and make Joan Rivers Barbies and Amerian Idol Hot Wheels if your going to do everything in Hollywood. At least a Joan Rivers Barbie would resemble her because of the plastic.

amanda on

they forgot to put in kstew’s rabbit teeth! LOL it seriously looks nothing like her!

Donna West on

And people wonder why the world is screwed.

Katia on

They even had the Spongebob Barbie doll, where she was wearing attire with Spongebob’s face on it, they do it for every big thing, this is nothing new, and I was expecting it. I think it’s a cute idea for the kiddos.

RC on

I think this is a weak attempt for Barbie to try and make their dolls relevant again. They have a tattoo Barbie and a Harley Barbie. They now they are losing ground, so they are grabbing onto anything they think will help them stay afloat.

Audrey on

The Bella doll looks way better than Kristin! Who made the doll? Are they completely blind? I’m sorry, but Kristin is really really UNACTRACTIVE.

Nichole on

I’m not a fan of Twilight, but I’m a fan of Barbie. Barbie does its take on almost all major pop culture movies… why not Twilight? They usually come out beautifully, just look at the I Love Lucy dolls and many, many others. Bella looks great, although kinda retro-Barbie in her face, but Edward looks really weird…

emilyy on

i don’t think the bella one looks like her AT all. looks more like rosalie.

anyways, what would teen girls do with barbies? reenact twilight scenes? barbies are for little girls, not teen girls.

Rae on

burn them Courtney??? Are we a little disturbed!

Melissa on

Looks nothing like them – what a rip off!

Lili on

Twilight sucks!

Leah on

I want one! cant wait.. hopefully they will make the whole crew… i want emmett and jasper too

Em on

I am a pretty big Twilight fan, but even I have to admit that this is just a tad bit over the top. I just have one question for all of the teen or adult Twilight fans: What in the world will you do with them??

FALULA on

excuse me while I go vomit….

Ew on

They aren’t THAT alike. The Bella doll shows more emotion than Kristen (Bella) ever has.

Trish on

I think it’s nice. With all the Twilight fandom, it’s perfect having a Bella & Edward Barbie. It’s good for collectors.

Leeza on

The Kristen Doll has a “regular Barbie face” – as far as I can tell. Does Edward sparkle in the sun? LOL

callie baity on

they could have done a better job all around with the hole thing with vella little girls want to be bell but in reaity kristen dose drugs she always looks highthey should have had national audations for bellas chariter dont get be wrong great books and movies but the should have tries hard all my love for the books gose out to shephnie meyer for all her hard work writing the books all beacause of a dream also the doll dose not even look comparitve to the desription of bella she is a pain look advarge girl not all doll up with make up but anyway now its to late to changethe dool or the movie

Stephanie on

lol wow.
coooool:]

Louise on

I am a Twilight Saga fan…of the books…I have to say the movie(s)and the merchandise really taint these AWESOME books…plus having Wal-Mart sell the dolls just cheapens the whole thing.

okay twilight, yeah its an okay book. it wasn’t the greatest. i don’t know why people are making such a big hype about it. yeah edward was pretty hot in the book but also really creepy. i think people just need to calm down. and now they’re selling barbie dolls for twilight….i don’t even know what to say about that

Joy on

Haha. All the crazy fanatics will buy it. I can’t stand anything to do with Twilight. Arrrghh.

Abigail on

As an avid Barbie collector I’m pretty excited for these. I think these will be a great addition to my collection I’ve started since I was 8.

fjbjtjrjegj. on

Oh, wow. really? is this necessary?

You know, there is some kids that really enjoy movies like this, So i don’t know why the bad comments. My daughter loves this movie and cannot wait for the 2nd one. Plus these Dolls are for fans of the movie, and Fans. If That is not you stop wasting your breath. This was posted on peoples site to show the “fans” The upcoming merchandise for the film. Goodness get a life people. THEY ARE DOLLS. Whoopdedoo!

paula on

interesting…do the girls young enough to play with Barbie Dolls even know what Twilight is? I’m thinking it’s not age appropriate. I don’t know anyone older then 12 who play with Barbie’s.

gigi on

I love Twilight. But not enough to flush $25 dollars down the toilet. Honestly, I’m not even really surprised that they did this. Its just another way to pump money from love struck teens.

Krystal on

I love the series. And, I think the Edward doll looks a lot like Edward, well as much as a Barbie Doll can. But, I agree with most people about Bella. The Barbie is much too soft. I think Bella is a pretty girl, but most of her beauty comes from inside. I mean they make a pretty big deal in the books that she doesn’t think she is beautiful, and this Barbie looks like a cheerleader!

Becca on

Love them….I cant wait to buy them!

Wanda on

Stephenie Meyer worked with the designer to create these dolls based on her vision of what Edward and Bella should look like. They are NOT based on the actors of the movies. I am very excited for these dolls. There are people out there like me that collect dolls and they will make a great addition.

Norah on

It’s a genius act. Considering their price and the world’s obsession with Twilight, they will sell like Hot dogs on fridays!!!
GENIUS.

Jumbybird on

All this vampire carp is getting out of hand… I’m waiting for a new wave of “vampire murders” now Twilight makes it seem romantic…pedophilia is what it is.

Martha R on

The boy doll looks like his face was smeared with White-Out correction fluid and then sprinkled with glitter before it dried. Hilarious.

Jumbybird on

Didn’t you hear Martha? Stephanie Meyer worked with the designers to ensure they would fulfill her vision … what a load of #2

Myth on

Ridiculous…glad I have a son!!!Won’t see these at my house!!

C on

Better that young children get their hands on these rather than worse things out there. I think they’re wonderful.

Danielle on

It’s interesting that Mattel & Barbie keep following in the footsteps of Tonner Dolls, who already produced collectible Twilight dolls that actually look like the actors from the movie.

Loulabelle on

Who cares??? What’s the big deal – this is not something to get so upset over. Kids will love these.

Eden on

what not everyone is an edward fan some ppl are jacob fans too duh!!!

Trish on

Eden, I’m sure that Jacob is next :) I’m sure they will add a few more of the characters especially if these two sell well.
They are cute and the young ones will love them!

kim on

Twilight all day every day everywhere is starting to make even fans like me shake they’re heads. If they’re not careful its going to go from a great series to a great joke. A Barbie collectable after the third movie would have made sense but now its just another money grabbing idea.

Just for the record, Rob never said he hated kids..it was never mentioned in any of his interviews. As for the dolls, well these people are trying to market whatever they can. That’s part of the business..Nobody’s gonna force you to buy it if you don’t want to…Just let them be…This is marketing strategy people! they are just riding it out coz twilight is so big now..same with harry potter, they came up with dolls too I remember.

K on

is it complete with the scenery??? hahaha

Megan on

If you don’t like them, don’t buy them. Who cares. Some people will want them and some people won’t, that’s the way the world of retail works.

Chiara on

$25?! For that they should be able to talk! For that much I want to press a button on Bella’s back and have it say, “Your so cold.” LOL!

sal on

Barbies are not just for children they are and have been collectible items for quite sometime. And $25 is not that much for a barbie doll considering some in my collection are as much as 150.00.

Wait noone has asked the most important question….. Where is my lifesized Jacob doll???

Sarah on

Who says Barbies are just for kids?!

My mom who is in her 40′s loves to collect Barbies. Her, as well as my older sister who is in her 20′s, as well as I, being 18, all like Barbie! I don’t think that it is that unusual to buy or collect them if you enjoy them…

I’m a Barbie fan as well as a Twilight fan, so, I will be purchasing these. : )

Mind you, I’m not one of those “crazy” fans that goes all out to purchase everything Twilight. I just think these dolls are really cute.

Oh, and, I’m not trying to be mean or anything, but, to those who have been commenting on the likeliness of the dolls to the actors. They are simply BARBIE DOLLS, I’m pretty sure, modeled after Barbie and Ken AS WELL AS Robert and Kristen’s portrayal of Edward and Bella, so they might not be “spot on” in appearance. Please keep in mind, they are BARBIE DOLLS!

These are cute. Stop complaining people…there have been movie/toy tie-ins for years now. And Mr. Pattinson did NOT say he HATES children but that he did not wish to DATE CHILDREN. And lots of kiddie and teen girls come up to him with that stuff, he was just saying in an interview that he does not want to date them. Be GRATEFUL…so many adults DO want to DATE CHILDREN!

Starr on

Okay…..25 bucks? Really? If they make dolls of the whole cast, that’s over what, 300 dollars?

Crystal on

I feel the barbie is like anything else. I would rather have my nieces playing with a $25 barbie than playing with ect a brats doll which is not a good influence on children with how they dress. I feel everyone has there opion and it’s not a schame or any toy in the world that has a toy made from a t.v show is a schame and I bet all on here has bought at least one of them.

Hey! How come only Mattel gets all the publicity?
Robert Tonner has had “Twilight” dolls out for
almost a year(Yes, they’re licensed). Oh, that’s
right, they cost over a hundred dollars. Sure they’re 15″ to 17″ tall but five times the price.

Where are the people who complained when Mattel released Beverly Hills 90210 dolls? Or Donny and
Marie Osmond dolls in the seventies? Or Shakira dolls? Or the ‘Destiny’s Child’ dolls two years
ago?

I’m not a Twilight fan, but I can tell you, Mattel
always has trouble with male faces. For them, men
are usually just an afterthought.

carl b on

i went to the joe movie with my grandson. fell asleep. but what i saw and with twilight which i went and saw and loved it. inspired me to borrow my grandaughters books and read all four. loved them but 2 and 3 could have been one book. what this foretells is a leaner wallet after christmas and people fighting in the aisles. my luck i have a insider so i dont have to fight. lol

Shocked on

Vampire Barbie?

Cynthia S. on

Oh, I forgot.

People who collect dolls usually have wide variety
of reasons. If it makes you happy, please, collect as many dolls as you like. Twenty years
from now, when your own children say, “Who the heck was this?” You can look back and say, “Oh,
that was ‘so-and-so’ he was my favorite character.” Because you never know where life
is going to take you. Or your favorite actor, or
t.v. show, or movie is going to disappear. And that ridiculous lump of plastic is all you’ll have to remember them by.

UtouchUbuy on

Whenever something good comes out that is a hit and people rave over, the vultures come out of the woodwork and capitalize on it! I was in the store looking at board games and notice that there is a game called Twilight. Ok. The movie and the books were good (despite the fact that 2 and 3 were boring, long, and drawn out), but do we have to see posters, games, shirts, underwear (yes! I said underwear!), etc. everywhere? Endorsements are great, but when is enough, enough? If they were in fact going to make dolls, why barbie? Like most of you have said, they look nothing like them. I guess afer all of the Harry Potter stuff, which I simply admire J.K. Rowlings and all other authors that have been truly successful in capturing the medias attention as well as the public, something new has to surface. So, I say, enjoy Twilight and know that the vultures are doing what they do best.

Jesus, how long have you been in this world and you haven’t realized this? Like a previous commenter said, at least they’re modest. I’m tired of every doll for children looking like they could double as prostitutes. I’ll probably buy an Edward for my niece simply because he’s not a typical yuppie Ken doll. Associate Twilight with just about anything and it will equal $$$. The dolls are too expensive, especially since they don’t look like the actors. But if someone wants to re-enact scenes, now you can have Bella smile when she’s around Edward. This Bella Barbie is way too happy to represent the moody girl. Maybe she’s actually the “Bella when she’s around Jacob” Barbie. Now they need to make a Jacob doll. Hmmmm…what would a teenage girl do with a Jacob doll? Hehe! Perv :)

What is wrong with you people that you have nothing better to do then get on here and have such negative comments about everything? They made barbies out of them, so what. Go clean your house or something and stop complaining.

I cannot believe this! $25 for dolls that don’t even come close to looking like the actors. Of course, if they wanted to make them worth wild, they should have gotten with Stephenie Meyer to let her help to make them look like her characters; the ones she pictured. I just can’t believe they’ve thought of another way to make $ off this whole thing. Aren’t the millions of people coming to the movies enough!! Ha Ha:)

[...] Mattel goes Twilight- That’s right, you can now own Bella and Edward and keep them in a box up on your shelf. Maybe 50 years from now they will be worth a fortune and pay for your grandkid’s college tuition. I have to mention that the Edward doll actually really looks like him (right down to the pasty skin!) but the Bella doll just looks like a brunette version of Skipper. [...]

The New Twilight Barbie: She Digs Vampires| Count Bachula on

[...] Through 50 years of Barbie, the bendable blonde has gone through thousands of styles and professions. The folks at BarbieCollector.com, a line of high-end, limited-edition dolls, often have her in the kind of frilly princess fashions that’ve become synonymous with the brand. But every now and then they break out into bolder, brasher territory. And now, timed with the release of the sequel to the teen vampire romance, is Twilight Barbie. [...]

I love the books but the movies, and other money making merchandise that these people are coming up with are just ridiculous in my opinion.

StayC on

I couldn’t help snickering at this. I wonder how my sister would feel if I got her one of these for christmas. xD

Why won’t they make a Draco Malfoy barbie, or a Horace Slughorn one? Actually, I would -love- a Dumbledore Barbie doll. That would be amazing. Who cares if it costed fifty dollars? It’s Albus Dumbledore!!

entertheinsanity on

This is not shocking for Mattel. They’ve done it with others before but I don’t really think 25 dollars is going to really tempt me to buy one.

If I did, I would buy the Edward doll, put body glitter on it (unless it came with), and burn it on a stake just for the pleasure. ^^ In all honestly, the series is really getting annoying and pushing the boundaries for success which it has over the past year…s….

Erin on

It really isn’t a suprise at all that they made Twilight dolls and they’re price really isn’t a suprise either. They’re collector’s Barbie Dolls, or atleast they’re suppossed to be.

Angel on

I think they’re adorable but can you play with
them? i can’t wait

kml on

no, the dolls dont really look like the movies’ stars. but, im a doll collector and not to mention, a huge fan of the books and the movie, so im definitly going to buy these dolls!

Laurie on

wtf? Wow I can’t believe people would want to buy those. It’s creepy to have a look-a-like doll. At least they don’t, but still creepy. Come on people don’t waste your money.

Pat Loveless on

What do you mean, teenage girls? I’m 58, and I’m buying them for myself. I love them and can’t wait. Never ending love? What’s not great about that?

Brittany on

I felt the need to shed some light on the subject of Barbie Collecting.
1. Yes people collect Barbie Dolls. Look it up.
2. Twilight is NOT the first movie to have their characters made into Barbie Dolls. Speed Racer, Grease, and Lord of the Rings are only a few that have Barbie Dolls that look like the characters from their movie.
3. The reason that Barbie doesn’t look exactly like Kristen Stewart is because it is NOT Kristen Stewart. It is Barbie AS Bella and Ken AS Edward.
4. Comment on something you’re actually educated about.
On a lighter note, these Barbie Dolls look great. I can’t wait to get them!

Amyyy on

I ACTUALLY WANT THEM (:
How much is $25 in english money?
Dammnn i love twilight.

waste their money on? I love Twilight it has taken me back to my imagination and I’m pretty —- sure I lost it on my way in the world doing as Im told. Long live Stephenie Meyer!! She gave me an escape that a mother of 4 NEEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nessie on

…but Kristen Steward have green eyes, Bella Swan’s eyes are not GREEN… are brown, isn’t it?
If the dolls are almost an exact replica of the stars, that’s not great, Kristen is not like Bella.

Graciemayoreilly on

For crying out loud people!! If people want to buy them…so what? To each their own!!

WHY???? on

Tell me something…is the Bella doll desperate and whiny…and does Edward sparkle in the sunlight???

P.S. for all of you who is complaining about us ragging on twilight…telling us to get a life…where is yours?? Go get one and learn how to spell!!!!

Brittney on

Oh come on, as if the book and movie wasn’t BAD enough, now I have to be exposed to those losers characters in DOLL FORM??!!?? WTF!I mean, he sparkles for crying out loud!!
