Ashlee, Halle and More Help Gap Launch Premium Denim Under $60!

Looking for jeans with a $200 fit without the price tag?  Look no further than Gap’s latest denim line — the 1969 Premium Jeans Collection.  From Halle Berry and Molly Sims to Ashlee Simpson and Emma Roberts, fashion forward celebs jammed to tunes spun by Joel Madden Thursday night, while perusing the new wallet-friendly collection at the 1969 Jeans Shop, a temporary pop-up shop on trendy Robertson Blvd in West Hollywood.  And the ladies couldn’t stop raving about the line, which features 14 different styles for men and women in the softest denim and most stylish washes, all for under $60.  “Gap is always good at the classic jeans — they fit [well] and they’re easy to wear,” Simpson told PEOPLE.  And she wasn’t the only enthusiast. The favorite pick of the evening?  The “Always Skinny” jean, rocked by Berry, Cobb, Roberts, and Entourage’s Constance Zimmer.  “I just picked up four, five new pairs,” confessed Roberts.  Gap creative director Patrick Robinson is to thank for the new recessionista obsession: Robinson spent a year and a half fine-tuning the line, from shopping around for fabrics, and teaching factories how to make those perfect hand-made finishes, to working with several body types to master that perfect fit.  “For me, honestly, these are the best fitting jeans in the world.  We’ll go up against any brand of any jean, and these fit better,” says Robinson.  “We want[ed] jeans that, for women, make you have the best butt in the world. You want to be able to wear these on a date, you want to be able to wear them out on those nice steak dinners.” And we will – It’s hard to say no to booty- and wallet-friendly jeans!  The Gap 1969 Jeans Collection is available in Gap stores and online at gap.com starting August 13. – By Shruti Dhalwala

Mandy Moore’s Fashion Philosophy: “I Get Bored With Anything Too Statement-y.”

Stuart Shining; Lucky Magazine

It may be Mandy Moore‘s fourth time posing for the cover of Lucky but that doesn’t mean that she has given up her indie style for high glam. The newlywed arrived to the shoot in a comfy-chic outfit of Current/Elliott jeans, a gray tee and Loeffler Randall flats. Heading straight to the clothing racks, Mandy gravitated towards quietly chic pieces of clothing and jewelry. “I’m really into simple things I can grab and wear every day,” she says. “I get bored with anything too statement-y.” Recently, Mandy has been settling into married life with Ryan Adams, who she credits for her current fashion inspiration. “My husband and I have been watching a lot of Moonlighting randomly,” she says. “He introduced me to it and I have to say, I’m sort of obsessed with that era. Cybill Shepherd rocked some pretty unbelievable outfits.” Should we expect power suits soon? In the meantime, check out what Mandy is currently loving, including her favorite things from her Lucky shoot at luckymag.com. Tell us: What do you think of Mandy’s Lucky cover look?

Kim, Kristin and More Reality Stars Model Real World Fashion for “O”

Robert Trachtenberg.

Who better to try out fall fashion’s most wearable trends than the women of reality TV, who see their everyday moves chronichled for the world? Kim Kardashian, Kristin Cavallari, Trista Sutter, Kara DioGuardi and more tried out trends from plaids and tweeds to sophisticated sheaths and glamorous brights for O magazine. And while we might be used to seeing some of these stars in far sexier looks, they appreciated the change. Kim tells O, “The higher neckline and longer hem are conservative, but it’s fitted to show off my curves,” says Kim. And Kristin says of her frilled-neck dress, “It’s sexy without being in-your-face — it has class.” And isn’t that what we’re all looking to have more of this fall? Check out September’s issue of O, hitting newsstands on August 11 with (who else?) Oprah Winfrey on the cover.

Nicole Richie on Her Design Career: “I’m So Blessed!”

Michael Kovac/FilmMagic

Nicole Richie celebrated the debut of her maternity line, “Nicole” for A Pea in the Pod, by bumping baby bellies with other pregnant moms in Beverly Hills Thursday night at A Pea in the Pod. “It is completely unreal to have a vision and have it come to life five months later,” she told PEOPLE. “I’m so blessed, I’m so lucky.” Joined by Judy Reyes, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Nicole Sullivan, Jamie Bergman and Gena Lee Nolin, Richie, who is pregnant with her second child with Joel Madden, modeled an outfit from her line — with a twist. “This is a tank from my line but I got it in a bigger size so I can wear it as a dress,” she said of her black tank. “I try to wear whatever is comfortable and whatever fits!” Richie added that she’s been having fun rotating the items from her line into her wardrobe. “I’ve been making an effort to change my clothes a lot and rotate through the pieces,” she says. Her favorite? “I really love the paisley dress, I’m a huge fan of prints and I love the color scheme.” Though she’s in her third trimester, Richie says she has no plans to slow down her fashion enterprises any time soon. “I have my second collection of House of Harlow 1960 [jewelry] coming out in November, and my regular clothing line coming out in Spring 2010 along with my shoe line.” She admits that’s worth the effort, though. “I’ve been working extremely hard,” she says. “It’s amazing.” – Lisa Ingrassia
