Nicole Richie is known as known for her boho-chic style as she is for Hollywood pedigree — and with fans like Madonna wearing her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry collection, her design career couldn’t be hotter. Pregnant with her second child (daughter Harlow Winter is 19 months old), the star has signed on to create (and model) a line of maternity clothes with her signature flair for A Pea in the Pod. Richie talked to PEOPLE exclusively about the new line, explaining that the collaboration works because “Pea in the Pod is such a known company for pregnant women. They carry great lines, and so when they asked me to create a line for them, I was really excited and eager to do it.” And being pregnant herself means that Nicole is especially considerate of her customers. “You really feel like you have to change your whole wardrobe. And that’s the last thing a woman wants to go through. So I really tried to make this line to get women excited about wearing clothes.” And while Nicole admits she doesn’t always wear maternity clothes, she definitely thinks the pregnant form should be flaunted! “I think the pregnant body is beautiful, and I think you should show it off,” citing her jean cutoffs as a go-to this pregnancy. As for what to expect in the line, think peasant tops, layering tees, flowing maxidress and braided details. Nicole may have a few months left until she has her second child, but she says of her newest design collection making its debut, “It feels great to see everything come to life. It’s the best feeling in the world to have your visions and dreams coming together. I’m so excited for people to see them. I just hope that people like it.” We give it our thumbs up! “Nicole”, an exclusive collection for A Pea in the Pod stores on Friday, with prices ranging from $48 for tank tops to $148 to maxidresses.

I believe the term illegitimate went out with corsets and high button shoes. We are in the 21st century people!!! I’m a huge Good Charlotte/Joel Madden fan. If he and Nicole are happy, that is all that matters in my book.

Aww. Good for her. She deserves to finally respect herself and act grown.

She is such a waste of skin. I would be willing to bet anything she doesn’t even design the clothes much less actually sew.

once again marriage is being reduced to a piece of paper.i’m well aware that many marriages today end in divorce and that is very hard on children but so is not getting married.a man and a woman together in a relationship is one thing but if you’re going to bring children into that relationship and you think you’re so committed to each other then why not get married?whether or not a celebrity wants to be a role model or not they don’t always have alot of choice in the matter,it goes with the territory.i think celebrities shy away from marriage because it’s easier to get out of a relationship and it just might cost them less money in the long run, they’ll get to keep what they earned during the relationship.not saying it isn’t possible they couldn’t actually love each other but celebrities don’t have a good track record for staying together.

[...] Nicole Richie’s Maternity Line “A Pea In the Pod” August 5, 2009 Posted by ashmagazine in fashionista. trackback Nicole Richie has debuted a few photos of her modeling her new designs from her maternity line “A Pea in the Pod.” I think pregnancy and motherhood has changed her for the better. She’s not in the gossip mags as much as she was before parenthood. I actually like some of her clothes , its like a hippie/bohemian/chic maternity line. People’s Style Watch has more about Nicole on her new clothing line [...]

Yikes! $48 for a tank top that you will wear for 9 months? (Actually less than 9 months since me personally didn’t show until i was around 4 months plus the majority of my pregnancy was in the colder weather) I’m sure her collection will be cute but I couldn’t see spending that much on maternity clothes when I’d rather spend the money on the new baby coming.
