Stars Turn Out to Celebrate Creative Recreation

Phillip Angert

New York rocked in style this week as a fashion crowd turned out to celebrate footwear brand Creative Recreation’s new Spring 2010 collection, SELECT by Creative Recreation. Revelers took in city views from the Penthouse of the Cooper Square Hotel in lower Manhattan and sipped Belvedere Vodka maceration cocktails, while Alexa Chung from MTV’s It’s On With Alexa Chung, manned the DJ decks and got the party started by dancing and spinning a set of non-stop crowd pleasers. Later in the night Alexa turned things over to Alexandra Richards (model daughter of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards), who kept the party going late into the night. And while the rest of us will have to wait to see what Creative Recreation’s new fashion-forward SELECT line is all about, you can check out why celeb fans like Diddy, Sophia Bush, and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz love the brand by taking a peek at their new looks for fall.

Michelle Obama Debuts a New Cropped Do!

Matthew Cavanaugh/AP

Singers like Brad Paisley and Charley Pride brought a touch of country to the capitol during a performance at the White House last night — but for fashion lovers, Michelle Obama‘s hairstyle stole the show. The First Lady, dressed in a chic Michael Kors sheath, who is known for her elegant lanky bob, faked a short, tucked-under style for the event, which InStyle.com has confirmed is, in fact, an updo rather than an actual cut. But should Michelle follow through and cut her hair for real? Cast your vote below for which look suits her best.

President Obama on His Fashion Choices: “I’m a Little Frumpy”

Haraz N. Ghanbari/AP

His wife, Michelle Obama, might be one of the nation’s premier fashion icons, but when it comes to style, “I’m a little frumpy,” President Barack Obama admitted on this morning’s Today show. After a series of questions related to serious issues of state policy, host Meredith Vieira closed her interview with the President with a light-hearted question about the baggy jeans he wore to throw out the first pitch at the All-Star game last week, dubbed by some as “dad jeans” and “nerd jeans.” Asked if he wanted to defend his look, President Obama declined, explaining, “Up until a few years ago I only had four suits. Michelle used to tease me because they’d get really shiny. I hate to shop, and those jeans are comfortable. And for those of you who want your president to look great in his tight jeans, I’m sorry, I’m not the guy,” he laughs. Click to see the full interview.
