The company has since posted a note on HSN saying that Fran Bran is planning on removing this preservative and replacing it. Being an owner of a natural skin care line, I can tell you that it is very challenging coming up with a totally natural preservative (s). They really don’t exist unless you resort to essential oils. However, the research indicates that preservatives are not effective as a standalone preservative, unless they were used at unsafe levels. here are some naturally derived perservatives, but virtually all have to undergo a chemical synthesis (which does not necesarrily mean they are unsafe) to make it a viable compound which can ward off bacteria and fungus. I think the most important issue is whether or not an ingredient or product is safe and non-toxic. Just because a product is 100% all natural, does not mean it is safe, particularly if it is not properly preserved.
