Katy Perry Dishes on her Style, Icons and Beauty Must-Haves

Tonya Wise/London Ent/Splash News

Katy Perry has not only conquered the world of music, but fashion and beauty too — her retro pin-up girl is as enviable as her hit song collection. So when British Vogue sat down with the songstress to hear about her beauty routine, we had to listen. Her top tip: “You wear the look; don’t let the look wear you. It’s all about having self-confidence, which helps you put off anything.” And that means accepting everything, Katy explains. “I think everything I have [tried], for better or worse, has been a creative expression of what I was feeling at that moment in life.” And just as she is inspiring many girls with her own style, she has a few beauty icons herself. “Clueless was a fabulous inspiration to me in the Nineties! So were Shirley Manson, a young Gwen Stefani, Madonna and Courtney Love.” So how do you look and smell like Katy? “My must-haves are Secret Camouflage by Laura Mercier as it covers any spot without looking cakey. Johnson & Johnson’s Green Tea lotion smells fresh and zen, and eye drops always help me look awake and fresh, even when I’m jetlagged and sleepy. I swear by L’Oreal Professional Power Care Color shampoo and Conditioner as I’ve had a colour every month since I was 15, and it helps my hair feel fresh and new, like it’s just been cut. I’ve religiously used Kate Somerville products on my face for the past 6 months, and [I love] Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf because it’s sweet and sexy, and not too intense.” To read the full article, check out Vogue.com.

The reality star posted this sinister picture on her website, where she appears pale with a dark lip and no eyebrows. Kim teamed up with her friend and makeup artist Troy Jensen to create a vampire-like look. “This look was inspired by Prada’s fall 2009 runway show and it is so unlike anything I’ve ever done!” writes Kim. “Pretty creepy, right? I call this my Twilight look!” But don’t worry, Kim didn’t actually get rid of her eyebrows, Troy used an eyebrow concealing wax to hide them. Tell us: What do you think of Kim’s Twilight look? Would you try it?

For a sexy, flattering shape, look no further than Phillip Lim.  His intricately beautiful designs and unique structure continue to garner attention from fashion-savvy celebrities, who rushed to help the N.Y.C. designer celebrate the one year anniversary of his West Hollywood boutique. “The shapes are unbelievable. I’m a girl without much shape on my own so I appreciate a designer who knows how to accentuate a women’s body,” 90210 star, Shenae Grimes told PEOPLE.  Adds host Rachel Bilson, “He really designs for every women.  Every article of clothing is amazing, you literally walk into his store and want everything.  If I had it all in my closet I’d be like the best-dressed person!” The store itself is another example of Lim’s attention to detail.  The designer and California native said,  “The store is just a simple palette, when you walk in, it’s like the cleansing of the palette when you go inside it exposes all the tastes and the spices.”  That spice is what makes Molly Sims a fan, “Everything is a little off.  He’s never going to put something together that is expected…and he pulls off being very conservative in a very vintage way. Wanting to create a special night reminiscent of a summer concert, Lim chose his favorite band, The Duke Spirit to serenade the crowd on the outside patio and personally consulted with his celebrity clients before the event.  Of her outfit, Kristen Bell simply said, “He (Lim) picked it for me so I just said “ok, I’d be happy to [wear it]!”–Michelle Ward
