SNEAK PEEK: Madonna’s Fall/Winter Louis Vuitton Ads

06/30/2009 at 03:58 PM ET

From a chic Parisian cafe to a dimly lit New York studio, fashion’s dream team has produced the latest Louis Vuitton ads featuring Madonna. The star, along with designer Marc Jacobs and legendary photographer Steven Meisel, joined forces a second time to create Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2009 ad campaign. From the collection’s rich, dark fall colors to the portrait-like feel of each picture, the new ads take a different direction than the previous season. “While the two campaigns look very different, there is also a unity about them,” explains Marc Jacobs in the press release. “So it now feels like we have completed both parts of the story.” Meant to evoke the golden age of Hollywood, the moody ads even have Madonna showing off the infamous bunny ears she first wore to the Met Gala back in May.Tell us: What do you think of Madonna’s new Louis Vuitton ads?

She looks like a video game character.

trsquare on

This actually makes her look less gaunt than she normally does, and plays up her eyes. It’s sort of a Marlene Dietrich look.

amy on

doesnt look like her, this is pretty and madonna is not…shows you the power of photoshop

Anon on

They definitely made her look BETTER.

AJ on

humm, I don’t know. I’m looking less at the bags and more on her trying to figure it all out. She looks good only because of photoshop, but I just don’t get it…

Marta on

Yikes, Madonna has lost her wrinkles! They sure have ironed all those creases. For that Louis Vuitton should have hired a younger celebrity. Or is that a wax figure of Madonna. Madonna only wishes she looked that good. Sorry girl, you’re used and re-used. Boo hoo.

Paige on

Can you say, Airbrush!

Jack Henry on

It’s a Man Ray effect, plus the makeup, photoshop, etc. It’s to mimic old Hollywood photos, which were excessively retouched and manipulated. Not just about Madonna needing to look younger. Still don’t get why this look and model are expected to sell the merch.

Nicole on

She is a video game character!

Ashley on

She looks like a Barbie – and not in a good way – in a plastic and fake way.

CORI on

I think she looks great! And who cares if the photo has been touched up isn’t that hollywood? Please pull your heads out of your XXX AND STOP ACTING LIKE YOU ARE SOMETHING!!

mjstocksdale on

Is that an olive in her hair?

C on

Well I think, she looks fab and who cares if the photo has been “touched up” isn’t that hollywood? please pull your heads out — and stop acting like you have something to share!

Tammy on

With all the photoshopping they did, why did they even need her there for the shoot? Give me a flippen break. She’s 50. If she’s not proud of being 50 then she shouldn’t do photo shoots. Hollywood is so phoney.

hilaurious on

ugh. WAY too much photoshop.

Gina on

How can she claim to be a vegetarian but promote leather?

Pantha on

Why does she have an olive on her head?

Crystal on

I love LV and Madonna but these pics most deftly been photo shopped

Elda on

the pictures are just too weird!!

KennyERJ on

I love Madonna, have been a fan since the beginning and I think the photo is great but I agree that they probably used a lot of makeup and airbrushing/photoshop to make her look so much younger. I wonder if she has any say-so in what they do to/with the photos. If I were in that situation I wouldn’t want to be made to look so young. It just makes you look worse and a lot older when people see you in real life and/or other situations. She’s accomplished a lot in her lifetime and should be proud of her age. If they have something against older people (that have money and buy their products), then just get younger models.

Kat on

I think she looks great! Very pretty and feminine! Fashion photography is not about looking “real” its about an artistic expression of fashion, which obviously makes people in the fashion industry millions of dollars a year… it’s about business, art, and fashion. Duh People! Madonna looks Great! I only hope to look that great in a picture or not when i’m 50 years old. Keep workin it! :D

g-love on

go photoshop!

Sarah on

Man, she looks good for her age! In that picture, she looks darn good, and not too gaunt. I would buy Louise Vitton! I love the first and second picture! :)

Holly on

I’ll get back to you on this one… I am not yet sure what I think.

j on

She looks like a corpse. Creepy. Someone found her dead with a purse and took a pic.

Texas on

It’s not Madonna its a wax look-a-like!

She looks very beautiful in the ads and at the Met Gala. I liked the effects they added to the images, they somehow match the bunny ears and the fantasy theme.

Lori on

HOOKER.

millertime on

can you say photoshop????

lmele on

air brush or not. she looks great and better than any of us. i love the shoot!!!!

Brenda on

Can you say “airbrushed”.

Luis on

You guys obviously do not know anything about fashion or photography, therefore making you unqualified for critique. Nevertheless, I believe lighting and makeup can only enhance what you already have. How many of you ladies can say that when you put on make-up and take pictures, you look half as good as she does? And she’s 50! Jealousy is an ungly thing.

Renee on

They should have used Kate Gosselin, lol!!!! =)

Sheri on

I want that purse

V on

She’s all dolled up!!! and they took the airbrush way to far but usually she is seen bare faced, working out…. She looks good for her age….. I want to get airbrush :)

Carrie on

This photo is amazing, the lighting, make-up, retouching, the clothes, Madonna! Great job!

Merrilee on

she looks super fake, and this ad sucks

Jasper on

Wow, will Madonna end up looking like Michael Jackson someday?

Ronald on

Fashion!!!! I love the photos. Madonna and Steven Klein did it again. I cant wait for ehr new greatest hits collection!!!

myrna on

I like Madonna’s natural face. She’s taken years of abuse from a lot of critics and paved the way for many women in entertainment. I don’t even recognize my warrior.

lucy on

I love the look. They look like watercolor paintings. I think there are too many haters in here.

Zoe on

I love her. I think she is hot but I have to say that these pics look too photoshoped. But u know what… Madonna still rocks it in her 50′s and puts 20 year olds to shame!!!

Leda on

Whatever!!!! She looks amazing, and she truly deserves to be in this ad. At least she has great talent, unlike those other celebs…

Martina on

She looks great! Absolutely beautiful!

Kerri on

All hail Photoshop

KC on

I personally think these ads are a lil on the creepy side!

clint on

This is a painting, not a real photograph. Madonna knows this and she also is aware that this would bring a lot of controversy and publicity which is a key ingredient to fame.

Camilo Etienne on

Haters! She looks great. The ads look great! Too bad it couldn’t be all of you… Boo! Hoo!

karen h on

i like the bag better…no not the old airbrushed bag, the LV bag

Karen on

dude that’s just weird

Anne on

nothing like air-brushing!

Connie on

I love Louis Vuitton handbags, why oh why does she represnt them, makes me not want to ever by another Louis, YUCK!!!!!!

Holli on

Louis Vuitton is not worth it @ the Roosevelt Field Macys they are prejudiced. I know because I was a former customer who was treated so badly by a female manager named Andrea who smelled like Gin and Tonic. But the Madonna ad is Fair.

stevegalindo3009 on

HATERS !! This is the fashion industry we’re talking about, pictures are suppose to look perfect and off all at once. It’s why it is art.

If you don’t have anything to do but post negative comments on celebrity ads, you should seriously reconsider your priorities. Then again how would these blogs survive … sad reality.

I guess.

clint on

Madonna is hot the way she is without the special effects! If she can’t see that perhaps she should consider seeing an eye doctor and a psychitrist instead of getting on her hands and knees for Jesus.

Ronald on

Madonna is indeed a lover of art! I was immediately struck by Minter’s imagery. Madonna’s LV F/W campiagn reflects Man Raya and Tamaa de Lempicka! Now, Madonna has discovered a new artist to be inspired by. HARD CANDY rocks! Grab your copy now.

Sarah on

As I sit staring at the new ad for lv with madge, (i work in an upscale mall and the ad is adjacent to my store H U G E)I wonder, Why? It does not look like madonna the imagery is beautiful. Before, when the spring add was there people would stop and take pics along side of her image. Now, in the Fall 2009 the pics abruptly stopped. Because nobody can tell its her its hilarious!!
