Bye-bye blonde! Ashley Olsen, 22, who typically sports blonde tresses, got in touch with her dark side and dons a dark brown wig for a pictorial in VMAN magazine’s upcoming summer issue, of which PEOPLE.com has an exclusive preview. While Ashley appears serious and sultry in the photos, which were shot by Sebastian Faena, off-camera, she tells the magazine, “I’m definitely a hippie girl.” On the career front, Ashley says fashion is in her future, not acting. “I’ve been transitioning from acting as a kid to doing something that I’m choosing for myself-to be part of the fashion industry,” says Ashley, who helms The Row, a luxury women’s fashion collection expanding into men’s wear in the fall. Adds Ashley of her plans to conquer Seventh Avenue: “That’s what I want for my future. It has nothing to do with my past, nothing to do with anyone else’s agenda. And I followed my heart the whole way. But the outside perception is very different because you do have celebrity brands, people like Jessica Simpson and Kimora Lee Simmons, and those are celebrity brands because they have their names on it.” Although she and her twin Mary-Kate may appear to be cut from the same cloth, that’s not the case in terms of their ambitions. “The Row is really something that I’m doing while my sister still wants to focus on acting. She’s my partner in The Row, but she trusts me with the everyday. I mean, I see her like ten times a day.” –David Caplan

She is ook… IF they filmed more Mary-Kate and Ashely movies it would be a lot easier to figure out what they are doing! I used to luv them but now that they are the Hollywoods famous girls i dont really like them anymore

She looks a lot better as a blonde. I hate this ‘dark hair’ phase so many celebs seem to embrace. Yech…

SK, what do you mean “what are they?” If you’re referring to the Olsens one is an actress and the other is a fashion designer. Did you even read the article, or just skip to the comments to be rude and ignorant?

Obviously I am not into the “olsen twins” like you sorry, I find it most disturbing that you refer to them like you know them. I suppose you wear the clothing line as well? or do you just sit and watch Full House re-runs? very sad

SK, I think Anita’s point was the article explained what both of these girls do for a living. It states one is an actress and one is a fashion designer. I’m not a fan either – I’m not even sure who they are now – but I did get that from the article. Cheers.
