Anne Hathaway Inducts Valentino into Rodeo Drive Walk of Style

Rachel Kelly/Photo Image Press

Italian designer Valentino has enjoyed decades as one of Hollywood’s favorite designers, and Thursday he became a permanent fixture in Beverly Hills with a coveted induction into the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style. The icon, who has dressed the likes of Jackie O, Cate Blanchett, and Gwyneth Paltrow, received the honor from yet another adoring fashionista, Anne Hathaway, who donned a pretty floral Valentino frock for the occasion. “He’s someone who really knows what it is to be alive, and I think that comes through in all of his creations,” Hathaway tells PEOPLE.com of the designer, whom she met on the set of The Devil Wears Prada three years ago. Before presenting the award, the actress recounted all the times she “tried to be perfect in Valentino for Valentino,” including her appearance in a bowed frock at the West Coast premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor the night before. But her all-time favorite Valentino creation was worn by someone else. “The Julia Roberts Oscar dress is way up there for me. She’s a beautiful woman so to be able to say that she’s never looked so beautiful is a very, very big statement,” gushed the Academy Award nominee, who knows how hard it is to hit a fashion homerun on the big day. As for the designer, “I am completely drunk on compliments,” he said while accepting his plaque, which will reside alongside those of fellow honorees Gianna and Donatella Versace, Mario Testino, Manolo Blahnik, and Salvatore Ferragamo. Valentino added, “My mother always said I was walking in the clouds. Now you can say people are walking on me!” – By Jenny Sundel

Topshop’s N.Y.C. Opening Brings Out Partying Stars and Rabid Shoppers

This week has been a non-stop celebration for Topshop, whose N.Y.C. doors finally opened yesterday at 11 am. At not one, but three star-studded parties, celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively, Kate Moss, Marc Anthony, Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Momsen, Emma Roberts and more welcomed the British cheap-chic retailer to the Big Apple. Hector Vallenilla/Pacific Coast News

You don’t need to just dream anymore about slipping into the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress that Sarah Jessica Parker made famous in the Sex and the City movie — at least not if you’re lucky enough to have an extra fifteen thousand dollars lying around. The design has just become available for purchase at Hayden Olivia Bridal in Charlotte, N.C., which has been chosen as one of only three U.S. boutiques — and ten shops worldwide — to carry the wedding dress. Tori Spelling Dishes About Her Children’s Clothing Collection

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Looks like there’s another star designer on the rise. Tori Spelling has inked a deal for a children’s apparel line, Little Maven by Tori Spelling, which will hit stores this fall. The actress and mom-of-two dished to PEOPLE.com about her chic and casual Hollywood-inspired line. “I’ve always loved fashion,” she says. “It’s one of my big passions in life. When I had kids I knew I wanted to use my flair for style to make stylish yet comfortable clothing for my children. Liam and Stella inspired me to make stylish yet accessible clothing for infants, toddlers, and children.” But style wasn’t the only factor actress considered. “The comfort [and] functionality factor really influences the styles I include in my collection. I pay close attention to what styles and materials Liam and Stella feel most comfortable in, and then I add the stylish element. Plus I love to dress my kids in strong fun pop colors, and that really inspired me to keep the line bold in palette.” So which looks are her kids loving right now? “Liam loves bold bright colors and gravitates to them. Of course, he wants to wear something with a monkey on it, which inspired the monkey hang tag on all the boys clothing. He also loves jeans. So I created the “Liam” jean just for him. It’s the perfect cut, stylish, and comfortable. And I love the LM stitched on back pockets, which stands for Little Maven, but I tell him it’s LM for Liam McDermott!” Inspired by her new baby girl, Tori knew she wanted to take her girls’ designs in a direction that was cute — but not too girly. “I wanted to find the happy medium between dressing Stella too baby-girl-frilly and too sophisticated in style. It’s adorable toddler mixed with Hollywood glam starlet!” Items will retail between $24-$88 in department and specialty stores across the country. Tell us: Will you buy Tori’s clothes for the kids in your life?
