Aurora, I get what you are saying but clearly those people bidding aren’t p!$$ broke and those auctions are a win win situation. You get something noone else may have.. and you help the cause. guess the glass is half empty for you because other people can see this as being good that certain organizations who ARE losing as well because of the economy… can still function. Ellen has a good heart and does a lot to benefit many areas and orginizations. If you want a bargain you go on ebay but if you want a ONE OF A KIND item hey guess what you ALSO go on ebay. Besides what person would think theyd go to a CELEBRITY auction and get a bargain?!?! Yeah… you missed quite a bit so catch up.. the world revolves because people like Ellen and other people who can be very selfless MAKE it revolve.

aurora, many people would be willing to pay extra for an item if the proceeds go to charity or some other good cause. That amount increases even more when it has been used/worn by a celebrity.

Also, you are VERY wrong when you say that most of the bids do not start at $1. Right now, when you view the list, nothing is $1 but that’s because ALL of the items have been bid on. If you had even bothered to look through the bid history on any of the items, you would have found that everything really did start at $1.

It is the same concept as the charity dinners. It not like they really cost thousands of dollars for the meal. Many people will pay the extra to just have something that was worn by a celebrity. The new shoes you buy were never worn by Ellen.

i realize that Ellen is selling these items on EBay for a good cause, but to sell something on Ebay that can easily be bought elsewhere at a considerably discounted price, especially during these difficult economic times, doesn’t make any sense to me. Foe example i looked up the Stan Smith Adidas tennis shoes and at 2 differetn sites they are price about $75 brand new with shipping paid for and if u buy Ellens, she is asking $95 for the shoes then an additional $20 for shipping. Maybe I missed something here and if I did, i am sorry and please accept my apology
