Nicole Richie Shares the “Exciting News” About Her Expanded Design Lines

We told you earlier this week about Nicole Richie’s newest sartorial adventure: a new line of apparel, shoes and accessories. And now the star is taking to her website to blog about her collaboration with Majestic Mills, the team that owns denim label Earnest Sewn. “I am so excited to announce this new venture,” Nicole writes, noting that their “expertise and impeccable reputation in the fashion industry makes them the perfect partners to help realize my design vision. I am devoted to creating unique and beautiful pieces that I would want to be enjoyed by everyone.” The still-unnamed new collection is slated to hit select stores in Spring 2010. NO! Not excited! Just because someone likes clothes, does not make them qualified to design them. It’s so frustrating to see celebrities and their dumb clothing lines getting so much press, when there are so many talented young designers trying to get recognition, but they can’t because Nicole Richie thinks she knows fashion.

I don’t care for Nicole Richie and all the pseudo, reality TV celebrities now days, but I do have to say that I love the way she dresses. She’s very fashionable, dresses appropriately for her age, but not sleazy like so many young hollywood celebrities. Whether or not that translates to a successful designer…I don’t know. But I’m interested in seeing what she comes out with, because she does truly have an ecletic, fresh fashion sense.

Uhh….Lauren…. There are PLENTY of opportunities for up & coming designers to break into the fashion world. The thing is, YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD. Just because you go/went to school doesn’t make you qualified (Lauren Conrad, anyone?). Who cares if Nicole Richie wants to make a fashion line? She’s stylish, grew up with fashion, knows good fabric, & is working with a company to put it together. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it.
