Taylor Momsen Gets Rock ‘n’ Roll with Designer Jen Kao

In addition to playing one of TV’s most rebellious teenagers on Gossip Girl, Taylor Momsen is also the singer and songwriter for the band Pretty Reckless. With Gossip Girl wrapping up its second season of filming, the 15-year old starlet is gearing up to lead her band on tour — clad in her own creations! “I’m actually designing all of my costumes. It’s a rock band, so there’s not costume changes but there’s definitely a look,” Taylor told NYmag.com at Nylon’s 10th anniversary party last night. A source tells PEOPLE.com that, although no deal has yet been inked, Taylor will collaborate with New York designer Jen Kao, who is already drawing up sketches. We can’t wait to see what Taylor and Jen come up with, but the edgy actress did reveal to NYmag.com, “I only really design for myself. Oh joy, there’s another blonde teen actress that wants to be a rock star. How original.

As much as I love the style on Gossip Girl I can’t help but feel like Taylor/Jenny’s look has gone steadily downhill since the show premiered. I’m all for a rock ‘n’ roll chic look, but I think her look is on verge of 90’s grunge (and not in a fun, ironic way). Let’s hope her “costumes” for her tour are better than what she’s been sporting lately.

I’m sorry but where are her parent’s in all this?? She is WAY too young to be wearing all that make-up!! She should be natural, no wonder all our pre-teen and teen daughters want to act and dress older!! I just don’t get it!!!

Not particularly, I miss her old style, now she’s being too punk and clearly trying too hard and still failing. Sorry Taylor, bring back sunny blonde hair and indie style clothing, and then we can talk !

in response to aliana comment. i think you are correct, but there is one thing that i need to say and that is that parents need to stop telling their kids to look up to people that are on tv. what they need to be telling them is that what you see on tv is not necessarily real life. parents need to be parents and not your kids best friend. we can’t blame tv for the things that our kids do, because we dont want to take responsibility for the fact that we werent a parent.

I think the look “Jenny” had on the 1st season of Gossip Girl was good, very girlie…but since the 2nd season kicked off she’s been doing this whole “punk” look, as “Jenny” and as Taylor Momsen, and I have to say…I really don’t like it much on her.
