Nicole Richie’s Jewelry Line: ‘A Dream Come True’

Jeff Vespa/WireImage

Nicole Richie‘s first collection for her jewelry line House of Harlow 1960 was such a success that the line sold out of inventory through pre-order on shopkitson.com before Richie could get her line in stores. “I’m so surprised and so blessed,” Richie told PEOPLE at a March 7th signing at Kitson. “This has been a dream of mine for so long.” Nicole donned over 20 pieces of the line (which she co-designed with jeweler Pascal Mouawad) at the event, in keeping with her accessory philosophy that more is more. “I stack everything,” she says. “I layer my jewelry.” She admits her zeal may be related to eschewing jewelry around daughter Harlow, 1. “Everything just goes in her mouth,” Richie laughs. “In the daytime, heels and jewels are out!” Her favorite item in the line? The starburst necklace. “In the back, there’s a little star. I thought it was a nice touch to have that instead of the typical clasp, and I wanted to give people the option to have a bigger piece and a smaller piece in the necklace.” So, what’s next? “I’m focusing on my brand right now. There will be a maternity line, a clothing line, shoes, belts, everything!” And, of course, a sibling for baby Harlow. “I feel great, I’m working a lot, I have great friends, and a great family,” Richie says. “All of my dreams are coming true.” Shop House of Harlow 1960, with prices starting at $12!, at shopkitson.com. – Lisa Ingrassia

Anne, Gwyneth & More Dish About Fashion at Valentino’s Star-Studded Film Debut

Dave Allocca/AP

Designer Valentino might have earned fame for dressing Hollywood’s leading ladies, but with last night’s premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor, the Italian designer became a film star in his own right. It was an appropriately star-studded occasion, with Gwyneth Paltrow, Claire Danes and Anne Hathaway among the elite crowd that turned out to the Gilt Groupe- and Quintessentially-sponsored premiere at MoMA. And the gorgeous crowd wasn’t lost on the designer. “Gwyneth looks fantastic tonight,” Valentino remarked to PEOPLE, “Anne sensational. Claire Danes . . . they’re all friends of mine.” But just because they dazzled in Valentino’s elegant gowns, didn’t mean that stars weren’t also keeping more prosaic issues in mind. Of her Grecian-inspired white gown, Anne Hathaway explained, “I’ve been enjoying a couple of post-Oscar burgers. So I didn’t fit into a lot of the vintage stuff. I wanted to wear something that was a little bit more forgiving.” For glam mom-to-two Paltrow, “It was hectic getting ready. We just flew in yesterday for this. And my kids are really jetlagged. And my son had a meltdown. But we got out the door,” although not without a struggle. “He was very upset by these hair clips they put in to keep your hair back when you’re getting your makeup done,” she explained. “He hated them. He was livid. But I’m here. I made it.” So did Moses have an opinion about the dress? “He did not like it,” said Paltrow. “He’s very specific. My daughter really liked it. She also chose my nail polish color.” Pink, of course! And how did the man of the night, Valentino, feel about her look? “I don’t know,” answered Paltrow. “I’m going to have to be scrutinized later.” Click here for a review of the film by PEOPLE’s critic.

Tony Barson/WireImage

Salma Hayek is already one of Hollywood’s most gorgeous stars, and the actress tells PEOPLE that she plans to share her beauty secrets with a signature cosmetics collection that will keep the average woman’s budget in mind. “I’m trying to develop a line with a drugstore so that it is affordable for everyone,” she reveals. And she’s not taking the venture lightly. “We’ve researched for two to three years. My grandmother was a cosmetologist and she used to make her own creams, but my whole approach is how can we get the essence of the really expensive ones, but for everyone to be able to afford.” But the details of the line are still under wraps. Hayek stopped herself, explaining, “I shouldn’t be talking about this!” Check back for more details on the collection. Tell us: What do you think of Salma’s newest enterprise? Erin Wasson: A Model Designer

Terry Richardson

As well known for her downtown-cool style off the runway as she is for her glamorous career as a supermodel, Erin Wasson is adding a new line to her resume — designer. The model launched her new line Erin Wasson x RVCA, in collaboration with design line RVCA, in London last week, with the affordably-priced line already flying off the shelves of chic boutiques including Opening Ceremony and Colette. Wasson says of the capsule collection, “As a model, stylist, and designer I have been inspired by the places I visit and people I meet.” For her debut spring collection, she was “inspired by the streets of New York City and the beach culture of Southern California.” And as if being the face of Maybelline and appearing in fashion magazines all over the world was enough fashion cred, the model has been moonlighting as a stylist for pal Alexander Wang’s runway shows in New York. Check out the collection, which runs between $50 and $250 at lagarconne.com.
