Jennifer Lopez Dishes on Oscar Glamour

Jennifer Lopez may not have made it to N.Y.C. Fashion Week but that didn’t stop her from celebrating fashion this week! The diva turned up at the Beverly Hills launch of famed stylist Andrea Lieberman’s A.L.C. line for Barneys New York. With the Oscars just days away, talk inevitably turned to this year’s Academy Awards red carpet. For her part, Lieberman is ambivalent about the impact the economy will have on the Oscar’s glamour. “It’s hard to predict what people will wear,” the tastemaker tells WWD, “but I think the mood right now is a little more effortless. I think people just don’t want to look like they’re trying too hard.” Lopez, however, was adamant that she thinks the Oscars should continue to shine. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with playing dress up right now,” she tells WWD. “Who wouldn’t want to wear borrowed dresses and borrowed jewelry?” But she is aware of the dilemma many stars find themselves in. “I think you can get criticized if you’re wearing borrowed dresses now because it’s borrowed, and I think you can get criticized for if it’s not because you bought it during the current economy,” she says. “So I say, do what makes you happy and wear what you want, because the only thing that really matters,” she jokes, “is if your mother calls you up the next days and says, ‘What were you wearing?'”

Very nice.

What is she rambling about? borrowed – not borrowed – brain or no brain!

Sadie on

Why is Jennifer Lopez “dishing” oscar fashion advice? I’m not trying to be rude, but wouldn’t someone like Kate Winslet or another actress that has been nominated at some point be a better choice?

CC on

Why is she invited to the Oscars every year? Try to name five of her of last movies…crickets…

Courtney on

What is she talking about? Wouldn’t it help the bad economy if people like celebrities, who have money, buy stuff? The economy will only get worse if people who can afford things freak out and stop buying. That is what causes companies to cut jobs and go out of business.

Lilly on

Here’s an unborrowed line: “Jennifer Lopez is unpolished and should never actually speak.”

so over her – ANNOYING

well i dnt get this..

What gibberish she is babbling? Jennifer Lopez should be disqualified from any statements about red carpet clothing as she has shown up in some of the most god-awful outfits. What about the topless number that had to be camouflaged by a guaze scarf and caused the cameras to shoot her from the neck up. What qualifies her to talk about what people should wear to awards shows?

Casey on

Oh brother! Not the person you should have interviewed as her comments and opinions mean absolutely nothing to so many of us out here in the real world. Try again with someone else?

How much is she paying for to be INVITED to the Oscar ceremony? Oscars Organizer please many Latin American people are not agree does she always have to be there. There are many other people better than she. Please American people do not believe in her.

Thank you Benn Affleck to be with Jennifer GARDNER.

Love her!

Why does everyone hate on her? She is gorgeous and she has great style. Sure, she has made a few bad choices, but doesn’t everyone? All she did was make a comment, damn! Let the girl talk, she isn’t hurting anybody!!!!

Does this say a lot about the academy awards or what? J.Lo, Katie Cruise, Jennifer Aniston…these 3 are nothing but “B” actresses, and yet they are all invited to this award show.
Please, this should be reserved for the “A” list only, and those that know how to really act. I don’t think making a ‘dog’ flick for little children at Christmas time makes you a “A” actress. Come on Academy wheres the ‘style, and class’ of this show’ and I’m not referring to what somebody wears. Who cares!

LEAVE HER ALONE. SHE HAS A RIGHT TO STATE ANY OPINIONS OF HER OWN, LIKE ANYBODY ELSE.

The only reason I even read this is because I like her style and wanted to hear what she had to say. Yes, she has been gone in many ways laying a family foundation and having twins, but it is very clear to her many happy fans that she is back.

Why is Jennifer Lopez asked for opinions on this? I can’t figure out why she is even invited to the Academy Awards shows.. I can’t think of one movie she has done that has been nominated for an Academy Award…

The only good thing about this article is that it wasn’t accompanied by an audio feature so we weren’t subjected to her incredibly annoying voice which I liken to nails on a chalkboard. 99% of the comments posted are correct – she’s not hugely liked, not thought to have much talent and not particularly important when it comes to fashion that is beautiful & classy. With the exception of 1 dress I can think of most of her fashion choices are on the verge of skanky and attention getting. Oh – and that stupid look she usually has on her face when she’s being photographed…What is that? A cross between “I’m so sexy” & “Something smells”.

Jady on

a lot of haters here, please get a life

Jennifer have a lot of talent and also she is beautiful

ENVY¡¡¡

GO jennifer, we love you¡¡¡

Jennifer Lopez is a style icon and that’s why she was ASKED by People.com to share her thoughts on Oscar glamour. It’s that simple. Her being nominated is of no relevance whatsoever…

sheila on

I don’t get it. What the heck is she talking about? This is the women who went to an award show half naked and she’s giving advice.

lan Pham on

Shut up JLo. You are so yesterday. You are like a oder version of Paris Hilton.

andrea on
