Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Her Post-Holiday Diet!

Lionel Cironneau/AP

After giving us her personal holiday recipes, Gwyneth Paltrow shares her post-holiday diet secret in her latest GOOP newsletter. Gwyneth admits, “I need to lose a few pounds of holiday excess. Anyone else? I like to do fasts and detoxes a couple of times during the year, the most hardcore one being the Master Cleanse I did last spring. It was not what you would characterize as pretty. Or easy.” Working with her doctor, a detox diet specialist, Gwyneth has created a seven-day elimantion diet that helps detox the body. “As I do not wish to subsist on lemon water in the middle of winter, I asked my doctor, a detox diet specialist, for the guidelines he uses to achieve a good detox that is not as hallucinogenic (in a bad way) as the Master Cleanse,” says Gwyneth. “What it came down to was this: you can detox easily and effectively while you continue to eat as long as you are cutting out the foods and other substances that interfere with the detoxification process.” While cutting out dairy, grains with gluten, meat, shellfish, anything processed (including all soy products), fatty nuts, nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant), condiments, sugar and obviously no alcohol, caffeine or soda, Gwyneth’s diet consist of salads, fruit smoothies, chicken, soups and lots of water. ….and she must have issues with food, since she named her kid Apple. Too ironic for words

It sounds like not very many of you have done any real research. If you think that what we eat in America is so great, then why do we have so many health issues and are the biggest on the planet. Fasting is from biblical times and actual does serve a purpose if done correctly and safely.
Check out Weston A. Price foundation for more information on how eating junk food is really killing us all.
Also check out Dr. Mehmet Oz when they were on the Oprah show and talked about why there are people who live to be 100. It’s because they don’t eat high fructose corn syrup, saccharin, sugar substitutes and the list goes on.
There are also very compelling studies that show that since we are the 3rd generation on these types of sweeteners, and other unstable substances, to that prove infertility could be a result of all of this stuff. Detox what? All of the lousy sweeteners and other crap people eat. By the way, vegan is not necessarily the way to go either, those who think soy is soooo good for you should do a little more research for themselves, soy isn’t call a growth inhibitor for nothing.
Check out holistic food diets, meaning meal plans, not reducing calore intake. Whole foods people!

This should be interesting.

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. Eat fresh fruit and vegetables (over juices), eat protein with limited fat, stick to fish and chicken, and limit beef and pork. Never eat anything processed like hot dogs, baloney or chicken roll, they are full of chemicals. I am allergic to dairy so I use soy milk and it taste just as good as the real stuff, but less fattening and more protein. I had to work with a nutritionist to work out some of my allergy issues with food and this works best for me. The more you take in the more you need to burn off through exercise. If I have a piece of soy cheesecake for Christmas dessert, I need to run on my treadmill for about 20 minutes more to burn it off. Or come up with alternative healthier dessert. Take fresh strawberries or peaches and blend them in your food processor, add a little apple or orange juice and freeze it, my version of sorbet and its delicious. You don’t need to follow an anorexic self involved pampered princess like Gwyneth Paltrow, who’s daily reality is nothing close to what most people’s lives are like. She can paid thousand a day for a personal Trainer to torture and taunt her into a size 0, which generally is considered by most doctors to be an unhealthy for anyone, yet more women strive to get to a size 0, 2 or 4, which leads to some every unhealthy weight. TV adds 10 lbs because to the curvature of the lens, I cannot image how thin she looks in person.

I agree with Liz too! Just eat sensible and healthy and you don’t need to detox. Maybe do a healthy whey protein smoothie one night for dinner and don’t eat white stuff!

HHHHMMMM Facinating. Here’s one. A hundred years ago anyone who fit the “standard for beauty and the desired body or face” used to say it was “GOD Given” or simply a product of nature. Now that attractivness can be bought to the ‘nth degree, everyone has an angle of how “You too can accuire MY hottness factor 12…heres how” It benefits both the ego of the one selling, i.e. “I worked really hard to look like this!” arrogance as well as the potential monetary value of selling a yet another body perfecting product to the gullible public, and profiting from it financially.

AND PLEASE GOD someone help Joaquin Phoenix. If he dies and the last film he ever makes was with Paltrow…I don’t know. I think it may kill me. Hang on Joaquin, I’ve lived for years in darker places than you even want to imagine, just hang on. PLEASE

Or you can be naturally skinny

My point above being that she is tall and thin. Drinking soup and eating chicken my drop 5lbs. On her it is huge but the average person it doesn’t make a difference. She should stick to hair tips and leave the diet advice to others.

Why detox when we have livers and kidneys for that purpose? Because our bodies are constantly inundated with far more toxins than they were designed to process (or did God welcome Adam to the world by handing him a can of bug spray to put on his food before popping it into a microwave and driving across the garden in his SUV?) We cleanse for the same reason that we bathe, because we get dirty faster than our skin cells naturally slough off. If you don’t believe cleansing is necessary, then please explain the epidemic numbers of kidney and liver disease that come from bombarding those organs with more filth than they were built to handle. I certainly agree with doing away with fads and hype and advocate a sane, knowledgeable approach to cleansing that comes from study and experience, but I hope I won’t find myself standing in a line next to you when you decide to apply the same logic to bathing as you have to cleansing.
