Kanye West: "I'm Not Breaking With Music" for Fashion

We’ve been hearing about Kanye West‘s potential fashion internship plans from everyone but the hip-hop star, and last night, West spoke to PEOPLE at the Flaunt 10th Anniversary party about his plans to balance music and fashion. First and foremost, he says “I’m not breaking with music. I’m just going to do it on weekends. Just learning, learning as much as I can about fashion.” Turns out that this is hardly a new passion, “I was drawing and designing stuff for the longest [time]. I actually went to art school and dropped out to do music. It’s the real thing for me. It’s not a thing that I just put my name on something.” Speaking of fashion with his name on it, Kanye tells PEOPLE that he’s “going to Paris this Saturday to finish my shoes up that I’m doing with Louis Vuitton.” The timing of the internship is still up in the air at this point, but he’s already had several invitations from fashion world pals. As for his own fashion idols, he says he admires, “Stefano Pilati, Raf Simmons, Kim Jones.” If his timetable isn’t concrete, his long-term goals are. “Just trying to get to the point where I’m good enough to make clothes to put my name on it…it’s my love. It’s something I want to do for the rest of my life.”

Ok to all of those who complain about what he wears, says,or does heres a question, can you do better,if so are you,if not stop complaining and move on.And talking about his music is pointless because if you dont like it dont listen to it besides there are worse things in the world to worry about.

Kanye has been exposed for what he really is: a half-baked rapper that is extremely delusional as to his level of greatness. I haven’t bought any of his music…and I won’t be buying any of his fashions either. I can live just fine without Kanye in my universe. If you want to hear real music, just goo-gle Guitar Bum Drew.

I like Kanye and his music. However he suffers from periodic moments where he thinks he is God’s gift to the earth. He is a deeply conflicted man who seems to go through bouts of conciet and consciousness. He often rambles without thinking, can be witty and deep one minute and disturbling shallow the next as manisfested on his albums. He has built a name for himself so he will put clothing out probably to warm reception. His clothes are tight and ill-fitting, he is self absorbed and a loud-mouth. But isn’t that what people admire now a days?

Kanye is an artist. He sings, he raps, he designs clothing. He is truly artistic. He may not be talented, but he enjoys it. If you wanna talk about talent, Lil Wayne is the greatest rapper alive. Damn right.

Well. i’m not the biggest fan of his attitude, but i love his music, and to be honest, his fashion is very non conventional, but it rocks, half the stuff he wears in the videos are then what’s hot in the streets, so instead of other designers jockin him, he’s gonna do it himself. Go Kanye!!!

wow the lot of you seem to liek to comment but know little about fashion. how many of you shop in high end boutiques? in every video kanye has on amazing gear from awesome designers. his whole album theme is marc jacobs designed, even the font. yeah i might seem like a snob, but fashion, high fashion, matters only to a select few and those that dont know about it, or cant afford it, need to not comment

Kayne has a unique taste. Some people like him, some people don’t. It’s a matter of opinion. Lil Wayne is undoubtedly the greatest rapper alive. First month, a milli albums sold. That was the day tha carter went gold.
