What Trends Are You Over for 2009?

With 2009 quickly approaching, we’ve stopped to reflect on the trends and fads that rocked 2008: boyfriend jeans, sky-high heels and liquid leggings like Rihanna‘s. Bangs and bobs dominated hair trends. Wii Fit, the iPhone and Twitter ruled the tech and social scenes. Some of these trends will fade, but others will stick around. Take Uggs, for example — there are those who love them, and those who love to hate them — but regardless, it seems they’re here to stay! So we want to know what you think! Tell us: What trends are you totally over? What trends do you hope will stick around?

yeah, I agree. No more latex leggings! No more nerd glasses, sky-high heels or platforms, no more YSL inspired stars, or real fur…

Thanks for posting that picture of Rihanna, ’cause that’s exactly what I would like to point out…..
Rihanna is so incredibly over the top style wise; she acts like she’s going to a costume party everytime she steps out! So annoying! Anything that looks like you’re going to a freakin halloween bash is just wrong! ( Can you say Katy Perry? among others… Ugh, so old already!)
Whatever “so-called” style that could possibly be, it NEEDS GO AWAY PRONTO!!!

Whatever happened to class, chicness, sophistication, and effortless looking beauty?!

Oh, and leggings are not going anywhere people!
Worn correctly ( meaning outfit that actually lends for this look) and made out of the “right” material, this trend is so hot/versatile and not to mention even comfy! I do agree that the shiny liquid looking ones have to go, those are too costumey like I previously covered.

Courtney, Brit is crap, always was and always will be. Why do people blame Kevin? The loser she met, fell in love with and decided to marry? Why is he the stupid one? She is the dumb how who married a back up dancer. Seems to me she is responsible for her mess last year. No one else. I wish I could blame all my problems on a disorder I don’t have. Or drugs supposedly given to me by someone else.

liquid leggings, tophats, black tights with dresses, floral, fringe, and bright lipstick should all be over!

We need to get some clarity on the UGGS trend. Somehow they went from practical to pretty and there’s nothing pretty about them. Everything is meant to be worn at a certain time and place. Some how for this trend people’s mind have been brainwashed and blurred. The time is zero below or snow storm dead of winter; the place, New York if necessary but preferrably Alaska!

First of all liquid leggings are hot. I guess no one ever wanted to be a rock star. That’s a rock star essential statement piece. If worn correctly it does not have be over the top. Pair it with a cool T-shirt (something vintage with a rock edge) and a relaxed jacket, whether a blazer or a leather pilots jacket (again vintage flare). That it tone down the look while bringing the old with the new, future versus the past. After all fashion is the marriage of opposites. It’s the perfectly imperfect marriage of art and life.

Highwaist pants and jeans!! I just dont’t get it! Those pants shouldn’t be sold over size 4!

I hate those granny floral prints and ankle boots… I’m sorry, those are NOT cute!! They’re ugly!! I’m okay with leggings but done right under a cute top that covers your butt!! The 80s trend needs to go AWAY and Taylor Momsen needs to do something presentable with her hair! What is with that cut?

Who cares? Trends and celebrity fashion doesn’t translate into the majority of the population. Their purpose is to make themselves stand out. I’ve yet to see a single person in Seattle wear a tophat, liquid leggings, 5″ heels, or max’d out ruffle top. Celebrities wear it b/c most likely, they’re told it’s the “hottest” trend and was given to them for FREE to wear.
