Christian Siriano to Make Payless Fierce with His Shoes!

Janet Mayer/PR Photos

Joining the likes of star-favorite designers like Lela Rose, Stacey Bendet for Alice + Olivia, Patricia Fields and more, the Project Runway winner will lend his skills to a line for Payless, Christian Siriano for Payless. Siriano has inked a multi-season deal with the affordable retailer to produce his first stand-alone line of shoes and handbags. “I’m so excited to design and create with such an amazing brand that is all about fashion and trend but, most importantly, is also about affordability,” said Christian in a press statement. “I can’t wait to see how [Payless] will take the high-end shoes and bags I’m designing for the runway and turn them into pieces that everyone can buy. I’m all about the runway and the sidewalks!” Christian’s Payless collection will be unveiled at his runway show at New York Fashion Week next February and then exclusively available in Payless stores and Payless.com in fall ‘09 with price points expected to be in the $25 – $45 range. Tell us: Are you excited for Christian’s Payless line?

cris

Jane

Ms. Jazmin

bfdjkbfs

ahh his shoes will be FIERCE! can’t wait!

Angelface

AWESOME ;)

shireen

that’s pretty embarassing for him. he kept saying how high-end he is, and he’s working for Payless? that means no one wants his stuff. Rami or the other girl should have won!!!!

bubblegum

I totally (respectfully) disagree with Shireen, think of all the big names that have been designing for Target. The masses want to be able to buy things at affordable prices. Especially trendy seasonal items.

Actually, I used to get really hideous shoes from payless when I was one of the four kids in my single-income family. They were like $5-$7 dollars. Now they are like $30!! I’m like whooa whoaa…I thought this was PAY LESS! But, with all the celeb designers they’ve sky-rocketed.

Daze

I have to agree with Bubblegum!
Payless comes off as “cheap” and looked down on, why? I mean I personally don’t own anything from them, but their shoes don’t look bad at all! Once on, I’m sure NO ONE would be able to guess where they were purchased. Same goes for high end designer stuff, when someone is wearing $500 dollar boots or shoes can you really tell?….NO! They look identical to other items. Only arrogant, materialistic people would be whining the opposite. And half the time, most of the high end stuff people wear thinkin it looks great, really looks hideous! I think Christian is gonna do a great job and I’ll be taking a break from Macy’s, stopping by soon to take a look around!

Merriah

YAAAY!!!

justcuz

pretty psyched, except what’s up with $45 shoes at Payless?

Mary

I somewhat disagree with Daze. Cheap shoes (such as those sold at Payless) and designer shoes may LOOK the same, but they certainly won’t FEEL the same to the wearer. Expensive shoes are generally (though admittedly not always) more comfortable and are almost always better quality than cheap shoes. Really, what you pay for is what you get.

I generally buy high-end shoes because my feet are important to me. They support my entire weight and I have to walk on them. In addition, I don’t like dependence on apparel made in China, where these Christian shoes will certainly be made in.

I buy everything else on the cheap, but the only place I will NOT skimp on is the shoes. So while I look forward to seeing what Christian comes up with for his Payless shoe line, I most likely will not be buying anything from it.

camii

I have to side with shireen! I mean if he wants to be a high class designer, disgusting payless is not the way to go/start!!! Bergdorf’s, Bendal’s, and Neiman’s aren’t going to buy from someone who has payless as his only other client. Wake up Christian!

Leslie

good for you mary, but guess what…not everyone has money .

christian was w a c k and designed costumes. I mean he had definite creativity and skills but nothing he made was wearable. i mean runway and sidewalks. We’d all look like Puss In Boots if we wore his stuff. And “fierce” went out in the 90’s

I wish the guy would just go away. He is so annoying. No style, no class.

Nelly

Yay! I’m so excited! It is so AWESOME that he is making his shoes affordable. I will definitely be buying his shoes!!!!

Dawn

Martha Stewart has done pretty well for herself targetting the everyday person with her wares. I think it’s noble to want to help the fashionably challanged sect of society, we want to look nice too ya know!

Sam

Think about it. When Have you been to Payless when things ACTUALLY cost what they are priced at. BOGO, Anyone?

STARR

OMG YES!!
CHRISTIAN SIRIANO IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
im not buying any shoes until they’re outt.
its a tribute to the definition of fierce!!
GO PAYLESS!

BigBlueToe

Really? $45 for shoes – from payless? No way.

Dorothy

I love Christian so I will definitely check out the line. The problem with Payless though as Mary mentioned is that although the shoes look great they are often very stiff and uncomfortable or they wear out easy and fast.

OMG OMG OMG im so buying his shoes!!!!

When I was in high school, Payless just smelled like cheap shoes….bad dye, plastic…it just smelled strange. I rediscovered Payless about 6 years ago and have indulged my love of shoes. I wear a size 5 and they actually sell them! Can’t wait to see what Christian does with his line. I think of this as his self imagined Project Runway challenge.

isa
