Jason Merritt/FilmMagic

With temperatures in Hollywood getting cooler by the day, stars like Nicole Richie, Mandy Moore, Michelle Trachtenberg, Nicky Hilton, Jessica Stroup and more turned out to enjoy 25% off fall styles at H&M in West Hollywood. The night featured DJ Tendaji Lathan spinning music to get celebs in the holiday shopping spirit — not that they need any help. 90210‘s Jessica Stroup couldn’t resist snagging a few knee-length dresses, while Nicole and Nicky gabbed with Mandy Moore and Mischa Barton made a dash for the hair accessories. And while these stars love a sale, they’re also die-hard H&M fans. Nicole and Michelle already have pieces of the Comme des Garcons for H&M collection, which won’t hit stores until later this week.–Amy Keiths

New York Designers Sound Off On Michelle Obama’s Style

Jason Reed/Landov

Barack Obama may have captured the election, but Michelle Obama has captured the imagination of some of America’s top designers and taste-makers, who spoke with PEOPLE about their sartorial take on the First-Lady-elect. “People keep likening her to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis,” celeb-stylist Robert Verdi, who dresses the likes of Eva Longoria Parker. “The similarity is that they are both very contemporary in their fashion sense. Women will really find new inspiration in her.” Calvin Klein’s creative director Francisco Costa also gets the Kennedy vibe from Obama. “Michelle Obama is so grounded. She’s a very beautiful woman, very stylish. It really feels like the time of the Kennedys — the family, the kids, are so beautiful.” American designer Zac Posen notes that Michelle Obama’s promotion of U.S. labels will be a plus for the country’s fashion industry, while Rachel Roy, simply loves that Michelle wears what she believes in. “I think it is the representation of the change that her husband is also bringing,” says Roy. “She loves fashion. But it’s fashion second and her life and her business and her kids first.” –by Jeffrey Slonim

Beyonce’s Bold Fashion Choice: “She Looked Fantastic”

Karl Prouse/Catwalking/Getty; Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Beyonce Knowles is known for her glamorous wardrobe choice, tending to glittering gowns, curve-hugging minis and elegant creations from Armani for her many red carpet events. Which is why we did a double take when the singer turned up at the MTV Europe Awards in not one, but two dresses from notoriously edgy British designer Gareth Pugh. Beyonce’s stylist Ty Hunter tells PEOPLE, “Gareth Pugh’s work is explosive and she had to wear it. She thinks he is an amazing talent.” The young Brit is a master of dark, almost-goth looks with incredible architectural details. Beyonce’s performance dress, which is made of elastic bands and rows and rows of YKK zippers, first appeared on the designer’s Fall 2008 runway with matching leggings that Knowles wisely skipped. Pugh himself tells PEOPLE, “I’m delighted she wore my dresses, she looked fantastic.” We agree, and we love that Beyonce is supporting up-and-coming young designers while trying out cool, new looks. That metallic robot glove, we’re a little less sure about. Tell us: What do you think of Beyonce’s fashion choice? – reporting by Monique Jessen

What do You Think of Katy Perry’s Wacky Wardrobe?

Daniele Venturelli/WireImage, Mike Marsland/WireImage, Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Katy Perry has been anything but shy with her wardrobe choices since hitting the top of the charts with equally bold single “I Kissed a Girl.” And while hosting the MTV Europe Video Music Awards last night in London, she turned up in 11 over-the-top looks! While she looked sweet in a swirling pale pink Elie Saab, we couldn’t take our eyes off her more daring looks. She hit the red carpet in a eye-popping Jean-Charles de Castelbajac satin dress, changed into a carousel-inspired frock and then got the audience riled up with another Jean-Charles de Castelbajac dress — this one with Barack Obama’s head shimmering in sequins. Can we still have fun with fashion and music? Yes, we can. Tell us: What do you think of Katy’s wardrobe choices?
