As a 78 year old Black Woman. I have ridden in the back of the bus, drunk “colored water”, and have been denied access to restaurants and theaters.

I want our BABIES, men and women, who happen to be black, white, black/white back from Iraq and Afganistan and all the other places where they are in harms way. No one complained about their racial background when they were sent into an illegal war. I commend Senator McCain for his heroics in the war, however, he wants to remain in a war that is bleeding us dry. To add insult to injury, he chose a woman who would set womankind back 50 years, I have to question his judgement.

I’ve seen WWII, Korea, Vietnam and now this. Enough already, stop killing our children for imagined slights and affronts.

I think that Barak Obama will move us in the right direction.

However, whatever your choice. VOTE and then prepare to close ranks, behind whomever wins, and bring our great country back to greatness.

Mary- How does Palin care about babies when she kicked her daughter out to go live with her sister when she found out her daughter was pregnant.

How can Palin care about babies when she is traveling the world and her mentally retarded child is not seeing her around because is being taken care of by a nanny because the child can’t take traveling around so much?

WOW is what i say to all of the commentary. It saddens me we are so judgmental to the point we are disrespectful. I personally do not know either candidate and I doubt any of you do who have left your POVs here. At some point we all have to put the negativity aside and respect the differences. I’m sure their are commonalities amongst all of us regardless of race, party affiliation, gender etc…. Let me first say I did not vote for McCain and my main reason is b/c he represents an era that I long to see this country move away from. It is 2008 folks, we have a diverse country which that diversity makes us such a great place but we also have so much disrespect for those who do not fit into what we deem to be ‘right’, somehow we always seem to know what is best for someone else…i.e. abortion(we assume if we bring God into it, it validates our POV) I ask what about those who do not believe in God?? We always seem to approach things as if every American shares the same religious belief…we must begin to be inclusive of those who are different whether it be diff in race, opinion, physical ailments etc.. No two people think exactly alike and we must govern with an ability embrace ALL people. Regardless of who you vote for, just vote b/c you can and in some places across the world people do not have this right/privilege.
Although I voted for Obama, I can also respect someone’s decision for voting for McCain. Its called choice and it is your choice to make.

AS for his race being a topic of discussion. It was his white family members who shaped and instilled in him what he stands for today. His father played a very small role in his life which was he basically provided the sperm. So I salute his family (his mom, grandpa and grandmother) b/c they seem to have done an awesome job. To categorize him as African American or Black, discredits those who molded and shaped him into who he is today.

I will pose the question to those who say Obama is not qualified. What has McCain accomplished in his 20+ years in the senate? What has he done to demonstrate he brings new ideas, new vision and an ability to embrace ALL people in those 20+ years? What has he done to show he can be innovative with the times, b/c times have changed since he was a POW!! Length of time serving does not equate to quality and effectiveness, please keep that in mind.

Saying that my comparing Bush to McCain is the same as comparing Malcom X with Obama is beyond ignorant. McCain proudly voted with Bush 90% of the time. The only think Obama has in common with Malcom X is race. I really can’t think of a applicable word and am sure the person who posted that stupidity can’t help. I am beginning to hate the internet and am looking for a candidate who will push for restrictions on the use of the internet by the stupid.

First of all Oprah is a smart, bright, giving person who knows what is going on in the world. She has helped many people around the world as well. So to call her an idiot and that she let’s her fame and fortune get to her head is absurd. She knows where she comes from and she knows who was there for all of her life. My goodness doesn’t anybody remember what she did for families in Louisiana when Katrina happenend. She also helped woman who were pregnant while their husbands and boyfriends fought the war in Iraq. She helped children around the world. I mean the list goes on. So if she believes that Obama will win this race and go out and buy a dress then all power to her. It’s her choice of who she chooses. So everyone should get off their high horse and worry about what is really happening in our world today and what will happen in the future. It is sad how everyone is being so harsh towards each other. Everyone should focus on what really matters. Like brining home our troops. I know many people who are in the war and that has died, one of them was my ex boyfriend. He was blown up by land mine but things like that doesn’t matter only Oprah buying a dress. So Please Stop the Hatred and worry about what really matters.

I’m glad Oprah has her outfit picked out, I have been planning mine too as I am one of the lucky people who has tickets to the Obama Rally tonight and I can’t wait for them to announce he won. Okay I starting to get tired of all of you who just don’t get it forget who’s running think of the issues at hand taxes if you make over 250k a year you will not even notice how much they take out but being a working class family who rents and not owns more taxes will hurt my family me and my husband both work but the income although good keeps us in the middle why does my daughter have to suffer. I am living in real america and how can you support someone who doesn’t even know the meaning of hockey moms across america most of them are stay at home parents and I was one of them before but I chose to go back to work so my daughter can get the private education I never did. It’s really sad, so sad it makes my stomach sick to see how hateful the comments are from the people that speak of god. Most of the people voting for Obama sound positive and excited while, the McCain voters sounds scary and angry. Why so much hate?! And it’s even more sad how the people that say look past the color are the people who think that the only reason people are voting for Obama is because he is black. If anything that has sadly been an obstacle for him. For those people that haven’t done their research and are just going by he-said-she said please do your research…Although at this point whether you like it or not it really looks like Obama is going to be our new next President. Just pray that he means what he says and it all works out for the best. But atleast if you inform yourself about his policies and stop worrying about rumors you will know what he is really all about. Well, what about the last 8 YEARS and all of those BILLIONS of dollars that Bush needed to conduct his unnecessary war???? Let’s not forget about that, folks. You republicans like to forget about all of that money that could have been spent domestically. And BTW, I live in Alaska, and Palin’s son did NOT deploy on Sept 11th. He deployed a few days later. Once again…they tried their best to connect 9-11 to this “war on terror” or whatever W is calling it now. DISGUSTING.
