Oprah's Obama Inauguration Dress Plan: It's All About the "Vision Boards"

11/04/2008 at 01:58 PM ET

Jemal Countess/WireImage

Oprah Winfrey has been one of Barack Obama’s most outspoken supporters over the course of his campaign, and she’s already planning the next step — what to wear to his inauguration ball! Winfrey called into N.Y.C.’s Power 105.1 Radio Station this morning to talk with host Ed Lover, and revealed her sartorial plan for the big night. Turns out that she not only already has the dress, but she’s been planning it since February with “vision boards”! Winfrey explained, “So help me God, I am looking at it right now…. Actually I started in February. I was speaking with Michelle [Obama] and Caroline Kennedy and Maria Shriver — we were all doing a big rally out in California. At the end of the rally Michelle Obama said something powerful, ‘and I want you to leave here and envision Barack Obama taking the oath of office’…. I created a vision board. I had never had a vision board before. I came home, I got me a board and put Barack Obama’s picture on it and I put a picture of my dress I want to wear to the inauguration.” And with votes still being cast around the country, the dress has already made its debut out of the closet! “Last week I said to the stylist, ‘Take it out of the closet. Let’s take it out. Let’s hang it up, and let it air out.'” Check out more political fashion choices by clicking here.

I hope this fool does not win.

wow. that’s great, but what happens to the dress if mccain wins? i’m pretty sure oprah won’t be going to his inauguration…

Samantha on

God help everyone, Obama needs to win! I could care less about Oprah, she has way too much ego if you ask me, but power to Obama!

Kurier Radek on

What a joke! Vision board…Barack’s picture…dress picture….sounds like idle worship to me. Oprah is part of the problem…very hyprocritical and out of touch with reality. Going to be a lot of dissapointed malcontents when McCain wins.

Wendy on

I hope he wins!! We need a leader like Obama to get this country back in shape! The vision board idea was a great one Oprah!

Ralphinjersey on

Who’s the designer, Christo?

pjp on

Oprah is an idiot….I am praying that this country gets it right and votes McCain/Palin. Us people who own small businesses that keep this country going will be hurt by Obama.

Nicki on

I’m with you, Samantha…..who care what Oprah thinks, I just want the Obama/Biden ticket to win!

Dana on

For the sake of our country and what it stands for, I hope Obama does not win!!

Roy on

I hope McCain wins so for once Oprah will shut up big fat mouth. Does she know for a fact that Obama is going to win?

Kerry on

Lord help us if Obama wins.

Gina on

I am truly scared for our country if Obama wins.

Amanda on

VOTE FOR OBAMA!!!! This country NEEDS him to win!! Don’t let the Republicans steal this election like they did in 2000!!!!!!

great vision on

i think that is great. keep up the good work.

RK on

VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN!!! If Obama wins oprah can wear what ever she wants.

JenJen on

Can’t stand loud mouth Oprah and can’t stand no experience Obama. Be prepared for higher taxes and an open door for terriots if the tree hugger should win. GO MCCAIN/PALIN!

Rudy on

All I can say is God Help America if McCain and that wolf murderer wins!

Denise on

I feel very strongly that Celebrities should not be getting involved with Politics. They should just do what they do best!

Amy on

McCain is going to win and that is the best for America.

Concerned on

God help this country if Obama wins. He will have won it on the ignorant ticket, not the democratic ticket. And I’m a democrat!!!
This election certainly calls for crossing over.

ecc on

Obama is the only sane way to vote! It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the change we need in this country and so what if celebrities voice their support to get that done!

hhyy on

OBAMA IS GOING TO WIN…

PPL in the US, listen up!
You already f&%ked up the LAST election by electing Bush, don’t do something like that again…

Michele on

Sara,

I already claimed Obama won the race. I feel sorry for you.

Stephanie Hill on

This the problem!! I don’t care who Oprah votes for. Does anyone care who I vote for? No, because I don’t have 20 billion dollars. She needs to help the people in this country not around the world. They are people that die everyday in this country due starvation. Where is Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and so on for those people. They are to busy giving a million per plate to politicians . I don’t who you vote for all politicians are the same. Give me a break!

Kristy on

OBAMA!!! Oprah has every right to say what she wants as we do here. Why the hate?? OBAMA/BIDEN!!!

Kirsten on

This country is in serious trouble if Obama does not win. In my opinion, anyone who’s voting for McCain is fearful of losing their socioeconomic status, or a racist. What year is it again? Oh yea, 2008. VOTE OBAMA!

teresa on

Who cares what that big mouth wears..Pleeze..how does that affect my life

Apryl on

I think Oprah like all people have the right to support, endorse and vote for whom ever they please. There is nothing wrong with having a vision and writing it down making it plain to see. To criticize her for that is the main reason we need change in this country. I’m so tired of certain people in this country who are quick to try to be someone’s moral compass when this great ole USA was built on greed, slavery etc… RESPECT is what we are lacking and is why so many non-American think we are arrogant!!

Obama/Biden ’08

Maria on

hhyy, I couldn’t have said it better myself!!

lis on

Oh PLEASE do not let him win…

EDS on

I pray to God that Obama wins. I do not want to face 4 years of McCain/Palin. The Liar/Idiot ticket that has been so divisive the entire election.

Marti on

For the sake of our country and what it stands for, I hope Obama does win!! It is definitely time for change.

Will on

Yea, sure just keep saying you want the oldest candidate in history to win so his no experience VP can take over the office. Instead of talking smack why not actually read up on the candidates so you can make an informed decision and not base your decision on republic vs. democrat. Yes, there will be a lot of crossing over but it will be republics crossing over, not democrats.

Wendy on

It baffles me when people say that if MCCain/ Palin wins they fear for our country! EXCUSE ME, where have you been for the last 8 years. This is the same perspective you had last time and look what a big mess your votes have made!! If Obama loses this election, please be prepared to bury yourself in the hole that Bush started and McCain makes deeper! (shaking my head in pity)

Barbara on

God help us all if this man wins.

Caroline on

Well, instead of visioning the Marxist in the Oval Office, she should have spent those past few months dieting.

Lord help us all if this man wins.

BRNMONEy on

Don’t hate Oprah because she has vision! Unlike some people, she sees the light! Things have to change! And there’s only one man on this ticket that can bring this change.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!

OBAMA ’08

NICOLE on

THIS COMMENT IT FOR SARAH YOU IGNORANT BIT** FIRST OF ALL HES IS NOT A FOOL YOUR THE DUMB ONE I HOPE OBABMA TAKES IT ALL YOU A**.

Robin on

SOMEONE CALL BARACK A FOOL!! THEN, WHAT ARE YOU FOR VOTING FOR BUSH FOR EIGHT YEARS AND THAT FOOL NEEDS TO BE PUT IN JAIL FOR WHAT HE HAD DONE TO THE ECONOMY, BAILING OUT THOSE CROOKS ON WALL STREET AND TAKING US INTO A WAR BASED ON A LIE. PLEASE WHY DO YOU THINK SOME OF BUSH SUPPORTERS HAVE CHANGED TO BARACK???? BECAUSE THEY RATHER VOTE FOR SOMEONE WITH INTELLIGENCE, CALM AND INEXPERINCE, THEN SOMEONE ERRATIC, CRAZY AND HAVE THE JUDGEMENT OF FRUIT CAKE!!! HE CHOSE PALIN – THIS COUNTRY DOES NOT NEED THE DIVISENESS, WE NEED UNITY!!!

CATHY on

Now doesn’t that just sound like Oprah. She had a “vision” of her dress. And they wanted everyone to envision Obama to win. If he does win, Oprah will probably be giving credit to her “soul series” and all that mumbo jumbo about “the law of attraction” and how this is how he got elected.

Helen on

How can people be so cruel attacking Oprah? She has done so much good for so many people. I have never seen an ego in all the years I have watched her show. She is human an vulnerable, watch what you say and imagine what others say about you.
What have any of you done for your nieghbors?
Thinking positively is a good thing, picturing what you what is key to getting what you want.

Justine on

I hope she gets to wear it and I hope I get to wear mine that night – even up here in Canada we’re celebrating his win!!

THERES IS ALOT OF NEGATIVE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD DISSING OBAMA AND THEY MUST BE WHITE YES I SAID NOW WHAT GO READ A F**KING BOOK.

Tara on

I think Oprah rocks. We need Obama to win this election. We desperate need change in our economy and system.

kari on

Who cares about Oprah? I dont…I know that Obama is bad for this country. I hope that american’s do what is right and vote for mccain. He will lead us right. I Voted for the first time today. I feel wonderful knowing that my vote will be counted, and that it matters. Get out and Vote!!!

Maria on

Funny how the majority of the McCain/Palin supporters on this post sound so negative and close-minded, and most of the Obama/Biden supporters seem hopeful and excited.

President Barack Obama…has a wonderful ring to it!

Ashley on

I think most people are voting for Obama becuase he is black. I have nothing against black people or any other race but what I look in for a president in morals. MCain and Palin have morals. The small businesses will be hurt if Obama wins. Also I just don’t think I could vote for someone who will not put his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance.

Elle on

I agree with Apryl. It’s time for respect. The whole “God help us all if that man wins” statement is quite telling to me.

LF on

I hope Obama doesn’t win either. The only reason he would win is because all the blacks are finally going to vote just so that there will be a black man as president. One woman was even bringing bus loads of blacks to vote. Nevermind what’s good for this country. With all the celebrity endorsements for him nobody is going to do their homework to see which would be a better candidate. I have nothing against black people and if Obama was right for the presidency he would have my vote- but he’s not. If he wins it’s going to be a scary time.

Stephanie on

Go McCain/ Palin!!!!!!!!!!! God seriously help us all if that scary man wins! Honestly who wants him in the office? Not me! His wife is proud of her country NOW for the first time! What is wrong with that picture? A lot! Plus that comment the Biden made that Obama would be tested right away if elected. What the heck is that about too?!?!?! That really scares me. I hope that all of you that can vote see the light and elect McCain! He has the countries best intrest at hand!

Wendy on

Nicole, let’s not get nasty to get our point across. I am also an avid OBAMA supporter and if there is one thing he has taught us…it is that you don’t have to be nasty, erratic or violent to get your point across effectively! Obama is the right choice to help America move in a brighter and more positive direction…we can show and prove that without stooping to the low levels of others. OBAMA 2008!

Rebekah on

I voted for McCain… and I pray to God he wins

erykah on

A fool? only a fool would make a comment like that. You people are so worried about the color of someones skin, your ignoring what’s important. we need change! im tired of fighting a war that no one knows about entirely and keep killing our young people. yea, i guess to want to live in a better place i am a fool. i will take that. Igonorance!!!

Deka on

Yall need to stop hating on Oprah. She is a very nice person that does a lot to help people. Has she ever done anything to hurt you? Oprah you go girl. I know that what ever she wears it will be nice.

Regardless of who she supports I am Obama all of the way

Moohoo on

Yep because we need someone who is Anti-American to run the country.

becky on

God, I hope that dress of Oprah’s hangs in her closet – unworn – we can’t have Obama, NO……..

To: S. Harwel,

Read your history! Our forefathers had slaves, didn’t allow women to have a vote and robbed the Indians. Who give’s a F**k what our forefathers had in mind for America. This country is made up of a diverse cultures, religions, and backgrounds. Our forefathers all looked, acted and thought alike.

Get use to it! Change! Change! Change! Change!

erykah on

Another thing, Oprah has more money than i’m sure most of you commenting has, so she has done her thing. do yours

Kathy on

Good Lord people, all you need to say and be proud saying it out LOUD is, am a RACIST, yes I have the few token “black friends” but inside I cringe. That will free you up and you don’t have to hide under anyone’s apron with your stupid comments, “He’s a muslim, did u meet him at the mosque? “He is a terroris” make sure when you find Osama you ask when they last talked, Stupidity in America is the problem in America, you regurgitate any nonsense as long it makes you feel good. People give a long hard look inside, I wonder when they bombed the towers did they take time to count how may different races were in there? Nope all they knew was they were Americans in there. For a change lets stopwith the ignorance its getting old!

Kelley on

It dosn’t matter who wins, only God is in control.
God bless America!!!

gypsysands on

Stop the Violence/Hate and appreciate that America has a CHOICE! WE are Free to choose & support whom we believe will take this broken COUNTRY and place it back together with PEACE, CHANGE, LOVE and PROSPERITY!!!

My heart & soul goes out to all…espeically OBAMA

Wendy on

I think it’s such a cop out when people accuse black voters of choosing OBAMA because of race! I voted for Clinton during both of his elections…and so did my white boss! Did I accuse him of voting for Clinton because he was white? What a weird and disrespectful accusation. I read Obama’s policies and I agree with most of them! I am a educated middle class woman and his ticket supports my ideals, morals and lifestyle! It has NOTHING at all to do with race…but everything to do with what he stands for. Please give respect where it is due. Thank you!

Renee on

I for one do not care one way or another what Oprah does or does not wear. I do hope and pray that our country will be led by a man who has vision and realizes that the lower and middle class citizens are tired of suffering and being denied opportunities by the wealthly – GO OBAMA GO!!!!

Nancy Cox on

Who cares about her dress?! I thought Oprah had more class than to try and influence “HER FOLLOWERS” with her opinion. I really used to respect her for being unbiased on her show. But now she is no different that most Obama voters that vote color and not issues or what’s best for OUR country. Wonder if Obama will exclude her from giving up her hard earned money to those that won’t work. Would be interesting to see if IRS provided us with list of what percentage the “beautiful people” have to give up.

Amy on

I pray that americans are smart enough to get it right! Obama will be wrong for our country!

Robyn Kim on

This country has been run into the ground with the Republican policies. We do not need to see how much further McCain can ruin it. Go Obama!

Marie on

Girl please. Why don’t you take your billions and do something worthwhile in the UNITED STATES! Oh, and your boy obama isn’t worthy of being the next president, he didn’t think enough to serve this country, he doesn’t think enough of our military and he doesn’t like our constitution, why should he have the honor to be elected president of the United States.

Barb on

I used to like Oprah…

Gbear on

VOTE OBAMA!!!!

Sara on

Hmm do you see a difference here in the the grammar of Mc Cain supporters vs. Obama. Have faith people, go Oprah!!!

marie on

What is the big deal about celebrity endorsements anyway? What do people who make more money in a week than most Americans make in a lifetime know about ‘main street’? These people have absolutely nothing in common with the average American and yet their every word is treated as the ‘gospel’.

td on

I was not going to respond to this but some of you McCain/Palin idiots are just plain IDIOTS!!! McCain is HARD to look at on t.v. and Palin is being USED by the party. McCain should have never been in this situation. The Republicans knew that they didn’t have a chance so they LET the oldest and most erratic old man HAVE the nomination. They backed away once they knew that they didnt stand a chance against the Democrats. So don’t toot your horns about McCain/Palin. Obama is going to win! Then all of you McCain/Palin can go to work pissed off. Get over it! OBAMA IS GOING TO WIN!!!!

Amy on

All I have to say to everyone, doesnt matter what your party is…JUST VOTE!!!! Its one thing to write on post your opinion, MAKE IT KNOW BY VOTING!! Hope everyone has a great election day!

Teresa on

I’m all for an Obama win, and I usd to like Oprah. But she has gotten so full of herself. There is such a thing as too much exposure, too much power. OWN (as in the world, and Oprah Winfrey Network.)

Gail on

She is an idiot. Does the dress even fit anymore? She has been packing on the pounds

Tara on

I disagree with kari.I feel you should pick whoever is best for our country. How do you know that Obama is bad? Did you look at views? I think we should look at both point views before judging. People need to vote because you lose your voice. Your vote should be private not public. No matter who you vote for look at the big picture.Vote as if it is your last chance to make a change.

Teresa on

I’m all for an Obama win, and I usd to like Oprah. But she has gotten so full of herself. There is such a thing as too much exposure, too much power. OWN (as in own the world, and Oprah Winfrey Network.)

adria on

To the idiot who made the blacks coming in bus loads to vote, here in North Carolina there are just as many caucasians. Check this out- maybe people in general are sick to death of the middle class not having a voice and we are working harder and harder and see no tax breaks. I am one of those people…making great money but watch the elite group get richer and richer. Btw-I am a college educated person. It isn’t about race, he gets my vote because he has my best interest at heart. For all you phobic people, remember he is part white too…duh–his mother is white! dumb dumb dumb…wow the times we live in! My father says racism was never going to go away..it hasn’t its just moved up from the trailer park to the ceo seats.

erika on

This country needs Obama to win! That is all I have to say!

Wendy on

The fact that any of the MCCain supporters can vote for him…even though Palin who has no clue of what is going on in the USA or anywhere else outside of ALASKA…really baffles me. And you accuse blacks of voting for Obama because of race? Uhm, I think it may be the other way around! LOL

Kat on

VOTE MCCAIN!!!

Steele on

I don’t know what the person that said they hoped McCain won because of what this country stands for. I thought America was all about someone coming from a poor background had just as much chance and the rich guy with so many houses he is not sure how many there are to become president. Obama, thanks to the love, support and sacrifice of his grandparents was able to get to this goal. I think that because we are not used to someone so smart and articulate we think if you like Obama it is somehow idolizing. The rest of the world is waiting to see if this country is what we have said it is or if we are a bunch or bigots.

Denise on

God has the last say so on this one… We need someone that is going to help the people.. Not make the rich richer and the poor poorer…Someone who can bring our troops home and stop all this none sense..More power to Obama/Biden

Christina on

VOTE OBAMA 08!! DID ANYONE EVEN WATCH THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES? ALL MCCAIN DID WAS QUOTE THE PAST WHILE OBAMA HAD AN ANSWER TO OUR FUTURE. HE IS CLEARLY THE RIGHT CHOICE. WHO CARES WHAT COLOR HE IS??? I AM WHITE, MY HUSBAND IS BLACK AND OUR DAUGHTER IS BOTH…JUST LIKE OBAMA. QUIT THE RACISM!!! ITS 2008..GET WITH IT! LET ME TELL YOU A QUICK STORY…LAST WEEKEND MY HUSBAND AND I WENT OUT TO EAT AT A PLACE CALLED COUNTRY TIME AND IT WAS FILLED WITH OLDER WHITE TRUCK DRIVERS. WHEN WE WALKED IN THE RESTAURANT WE WAITED FOR 15 MINUTES BEFORE A LADY TOLD US TO SIT WHEREVER WE WANTED. SO WE SAT DOWN AND WAITED FOR OUR WAITRESS. A GROUP OF 3 WHITE BOYS CAME IN AFTER US AND THE LADY ESCORTED THEM TO A TABLE, BROUGHT THEM MENUS, AND ASKED WHAT THEY WANTED TO DRINK, WHILE ME AND MY HUSBAND WERE STILL WAITING FOR OUR WAITRESS. THE OLDER TRUCK DRIVERS STARED AT US AND WHISPERED BEHIND OUR BACK. UN-F**KING-BELIEVEABLE!!! I AM SOOOO SICK OF RACISM, WE NEED CHANGE AND WE NEED IT NOW!!!!!!!! LET MY DAUGHTER BE RAISED IN A WORLD WHERE IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOUR WHITE, BLACK, BLUE OR PURPLE!! OBAMA IS ABOUT CHANGE AND WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!! BA-ROCK THE VOTE!!!

I think this is a little premature, but I know California will pick Obama. All I can really hope for is that Proposition 8 and Proposition 4 do NOT pass.

BONG on

I am praying that McCain and Palin wins.

Oprah totally makes me want to puke! After she refused to have McCain/Palin on her show, it showed what kind of person she really is!

edwin on

I hope to God Obama does NOT win! and as for Oprah, I have lost respect for the woman!

Amazed on

After reading these posts, I can say I’m embarrassed for my country. To hear people bashing an American Hero(John McCain) and bashing a top graduate of one of our finest schools (Barack Obama). It shows how far we have to go before we can be a better country. We need to judge people on their accomplishments not the color of their skin, age or other unimportant criteria.

dianne on

who gives a rats hole if he’s white black or muslim…the fact of the matter is we need someone who can run the country..not run it into the ground. electing mccain would be like bush part 3, and then when you add that scary sarah palin to the mix…nooooo thanks!

haven’t the republicans done enough damage? i certainly think so. time for a change people.

and if obama wins i’m going dress-less to the bash! woooo!

Felicia on

McCain and Palin are idiots and God help us all if they win! Do you really want 4-8 more years of what this country has been going through lately? Wise up, people, before it is too late! Power to Obama!!

CHRISTY on

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid Oprah! I think the following Thomas Jefferson quote describes why Obama is bad for this country “A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.”

barb on

The problem with this election is there wasn’t one news outlet that printed the TRUTH – consistantly. The press has a patriotic duty to inform us of the truth – not become part of the news. In order for democracy to work we need an unbias press.

Jenny on

Do you think McCain will really lower taxes if he keeps us indefinitely in Iraq- think again.

What a freak. She can’t accept that something might not be all about her. Just wait til Obama starts spreading her wealth around. See how much she loves him then.

steb on

Obama – do something good for the country – PLEASE.
Oprah – go away.

Faye on

I too own a small business and recognize that the 8 years of a Republican administration have not been good. My taxes have not gone down, but my retirement account has. Oprah might be silly, but Barak isn’t.

Jessnaz on

Just like we shouldn’t judge Obama by his race, we also shouldn’t judge McCain by his predecessors. Every new President wants to do things differently and learn from their predecessors mistakes. Don’t claim that just because McCain is a Republican like Bush that he will make the same mistakes or can’t push the changes we need to revive our economy. That’s like saying since Obama is black he will be another Malcolm X. McCain has voted outside of his party numerous times. Every candidate regardless of party affiliation deserves the opportunity to prove themselves.

K.D. on

Some of you people sound so ignorant it’s a shame. I’m voting for McCain/Palin because they have ‘morals’….yeah right. McCain is a big fat liar and Palin can’t even control her household. Daughter pops up preggers unmarried at 17 and her demon-seed 8 year old (or however old she is) daughter is flicking the middle finger-ha!! Morals…I’m so sure!
Obama never said he didn’t support the troops, he just doesn’t support the war, like most level-headed Americans.
And I commend Oprah for having a ‘vision’. Most of us live without hopes and dreams that’s why you’re so bitter and nasty and low-lives.
“Kelley” said it right: Only God is in control and I hope it’s His will for Obama to win.

Obama/Biden “08”

Tammy W. on

I’m sick of 1) people claiming I am not voting for Obama b/c of his race. He does not have the experience necessary. If he were white, he would have been laughed out of the primaries. And 2) sick of people ripping on Palin. I’d stack her whit and wisdom against any of you critics any day. She is smart, and strong, and gracious, and women should celebrate that instead of listening to the idiot-run, liberal media. If you are looking for an idiot to beat on, take a close look at Biden! My word! Every time the man opens his mouth idiocy spews out.

CJ on

What exactly does our “country stand for”, Dana? Last time I checked, it was freedom of religion, equality for all, a hope for a change of scenery, and a fair shot at anything you set your sights on. I’m pretty sure that’s what Barack stands for..what part of that is not the American dream, pray tell? I’d much rather have a young man with much charisma running this country than some anger stricken 70+ year old senior citizen with an air head for a VP.

Jo on

Niclole, YOU sound like such a racist to me…if someone doesn’t like Obama, then they must be white??? Give me a break and get off the race card…it’s old. Obama has scary, radical ideas, and he is disgustingly pro-abortion in every single possible aspect. He could be purple for all I care, but his views are not for me…get over the whole “white/black” thing…HE IS HALF WHITE…people seem to forget that and make everything about race…please.

G on

Do you guys realize how rediculous you sound. Americans are so high on their politics, but listen to you!! obviously there will be good and bad things about eachside, but really, if you cant recognize what your choice for the last 8 years has done to your country, once so powerful, strong and respected…well maybe thats the problem.I dont think its about if Obama is black, or if McCain is a racist. Honestly, arent you open to change to get your country back in order?? I do think that celeb endorsements are stupit tho, honestly, celebs have got to stop being royalty!! Good luck to you guys. hope things work out and turn around! desperate times call for desperate measures sometimes!

Rebecca on

This is exactly the sort of arrogance that makes me run as fast as I can AWAY from the Obama team.

Mark on

we NEED change!!!!!!

OBAMA/BIDEN all the way!

Cheryl on

Amazing the amount of venom this campaign has brought forth. Such low comments and name-calling. Our country needs unification regardless of the blue or red factions and whomever the next prez is has to accomplish that. A task far harder than the economical situation. Vote Obama so that he puts a liberal on the Supreme Court since Palin takes womens issues back 40 years!

Dwight-Boy on

I don’t care what Oprah or any of those liberal Hollywood types say about politics. They don’t have a clue. It’s all about stroking their own egos and hers has grown larger than she is!!!

meg on

Hmm, I wonder why Oprah is supporting Obama?

Dionne on

This country has gone to crap thanks to the Republicans who don’t know sh*t!

Obama will proudly clean up the Republicans mess they will leave him.

Just as Clinton did an amazing job so will Obama.

Bush brought nothing but terrorist attacks, recession, depression, war, and the list goes on.

GO CHANGE! GO OBAMA/BIDEN. My vote is in!

Maxine on

I just read in today’s paper about a sick woman who had to stop taking much-needed medication because she can’t afford it. The paper also reported that we will be having a much-colder-than-usual-winter, and people will not be able to heat their homes at suitable levels. That’s the vision board that we should have– not a dress! Oprah– I am ashamed of you!

nicole on

oprah sucks.

One more thing – Bush was doing fine until Democrats took over Congress. Clinton did not do that good of a job. We can thank the Republicans for taking over Congress and cleaning stuff up for us during Clinton’s term!!!

why, why why? on

Why r ya’ll so upset with Oprah’s comment? I dont see her being upset with the comments you guys r writing about her. It just doesnt make any sense.

Elizabeth on

I vote YES for change. I voted Obama!

GILLIAN on

Sarah, I’m with you, I believe that our Country is headed for a very dark dark path if Obama is elected president. I think McCain/Palin deserves to win!

Mary on

THe press is so biased now. It is scary that we live in a country where you cannot have an equal playing field for an election. The press made Obama a celebrity from the get go. They ignored anything that made he look not ready for the presidency. Oprah should have kept her mouth shut. She lost alot of people’s respect.

Elizabeth on

Rachel you’re another ignorant Republican. Pointing the finger at the Dems. Too bad it was a REPUBLICAN in the Presidents seat when the country went to sh.t.

Stop pointing the finger and admit it, Democrats rule and we will win. HA HA HA HA HA HA

CJ on

Interesting, Rebecca. If you read the comments, it is your ticket’s advocates that are sounding quite arrogant.

Jaci on

Oprah has had some great ideas in her time but supporting Barack Obama is not one of them. She is the only reason he is even being considered for president. And who supports a candidate with no experience?!

Wendy on

Oprah has a right to her opinion and also the right to endorse whomever she wants. Why should she shut her mouth? That is not the kind of country we live in! Stop with the anger and hate…our country needs help quick…name calling and anger and hate will not be the redemption we need. Some of you really need love in your life! OBAMA 2008!

Ray on

McCain cannot win, our country cannot be run by Republicans ever again. It’s time Obama cleans the mess up George Bush left.

I stand for my Americans. We need positive change. Thanks to Obama he will do this for us.

Dave on

McCain and Palin in office only means destruction for this country. I’d rather pay high taxes, then to see those two in office.

McCain is senile and feels that bashing someone makes him better. There’s a lot of dirt that McCain has in his closet and Obama demonstrated that he was a better person, by not revealing it. This country doesn’t need a HOT HEAD in office that will make rush decisions that can cost us.

As for Palin, she couldn’t discuss what the bailout plan was about, couldn’t say the role of V-P, doesn’t know what newspapers she reads, yet, she should be V-P, the 2nd highest position in the country. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! A 5 year old should be on the ticket.

Ray on

I’d rather pay high taxes and have a job, rather than having McCain/Palin in there while they deepen this country into the recession George Bush put us in.

I agree w. you Dave~

Andrea on

Let’s hope this fool does not win or this country is going to be in a mess! I wish people would listen to his views instead of what color his skin is!!! McCain/Palin 2008

Jenny on

BAROCK THE VOTE :)

G on

hahaha, reading this makes me seriously understand americans! do you know how you look to the rest of the world right now. we’re watching your politics for entertainment, we are waiting to see if you got the message from the deterioration of your country over the last 8 years, both candidates arent 100% perfect to run the country, im sure, BUT seriously, learn your lesson. accept that change is desperately needed. your economy and your politics are now affecting other countries too, and its gettin a bit extreme! seriously, help yourselves gain back some respect. you are on such a pedestal these days by your neighboring countries. Atleast VOTE!! but really, VOTE FOR FUTURE, FOR CHANGE, FOR RESTORATION of the mess youve created with the dumbest pres in history!!

Tamethia on

Unbelieveable….is this a discussion? So you prefer one candidate over the other and this gives you the right to become disrepectful? Not only to the Candidates and Ms. Winfrey, but to the other readers, unacceptable. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but your in a public form and your acting like complete idiots (if the shoe fits, wear it). Whatever the outcome of the election, deal with it and you have to deal with it whether you like it or not. Nobody says you have to live here, there are airplane leaving the country on a daily basis, so get to steppin! We need to be ready to accept whatever happens. If you have casted your vote, then you have done what you are supposed to do.

Dunno on

And something so petty as a dress?

I like Oprah, but she’s as blinded by his color as many other people. Look at his qualifications.

Kelly on

I think it’s sad that we all claim to be good people and want our best interests at heart….and then we get on a stupid comment blog and ridicule each other and call each other names because someone has a different opinion than we do. Isn’t that what is supposed to make America so great? The fact that we have the right to have different opinions? So why do we all act like immature asses when someone votes for the opposite party. I hope whoever wins does the best they can do.

Elle on

This country needs Obama. Hopefully, we will get it right. Our country does not stand a chance with McCain and the idiotic Sarah Palin.

Jennifer Marie on

I can’t wait to see the arrogant Republicans out of office!! It’s about time we get a rational thinking person to fix what Bush has done to this country!! McCain is just another lying politician and Palin is an absolute joke!!

Sarina on

I voted today for the first time and it made me proud. It made me proud because of the power that my one vote holds. I dont care about what others say involving race, sex, or age involved in this election…I read through most of the comments on here and my heart broke. It almost seems as if a civil war is going on….McCain supporters against Obama supporters. It’s almost like another form of discrimination. If u vote for Obama, ur pegged as a left winged liberal who is riding the rainbow of change….If u vote McCain, u are pegged as an uptight a-hole who doesn’t mind America going own the same road as it did for the past eight years with Bush. But whatever, it doesnt matter. Vote for whomever but it is unfair to speak against those who do not share the same ideals as you. It is close-minded, stupid, and judgemental.

BOYCOTT OPRAH! SHE SUCKS…SHE’S LET DOWN WOMEN ALL OVER THIS NATION. SHE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HERSELF.

Kathy H on

I don’t understand has seemingly intelligent, reasonable people honestly think George Bush is the blame for everything. Are you so bitter and angry that you can’t or won’t admit that DEMOCRAT senators looked at the SAME intelligence and vote by a MAJORITY to go into Iraq. Are you so blind that you won’t believe what was written back as late as 1999 about the housing and loan crisis that was at the behest of the Clinton Administration?? Are you so ignorant to the facts that you honestly cannot see Obama can’t tell the truth about anything??

And playing the race card is about as stupid, juvenile, and RACIST yourself. I don’t give a DA*N what color Barack Obama is, nor does ANYONE I know. I would not vote for him if he were white, Hispanic, purple or spotted like a cow. I would not vote for him if he were a Republican. I am NOT voting for him on his merits – his lack of experience (which boggles the mind how people are concerned about Palin’s experience – she has more than Obama by miles AND she is Veep, not POTUS!). I am not voting for him because his plan for the economy is wrong. I am not voting for him because he is a socialist in a $3,000 designer suit. I am not voting for him because he wouldn’t know the truth if it slapped him in the face.

To say not voting for Obama is racist is proof positive there is a tremendous lack of education, common sense, and a liberal media bias that abounds in the country. And in 2008, that’s just plain sad.

Lindsay on

First of all, why would God need to help us if one candidate were elected over the other? For all who are Christian, wouldn’t the candidate elected be the one that God chose for you? Secondly, neither side is backing up their claims of WHY their God would need to help any of us. The parties are the same as they have always been: Republican and Democrat. Sure, the candidates are more controversial, and perhas the majority of African-Americans voting are doing so because there is a half African-American candidate, and no, that is not the correct reason, but you’re missing the point, they’re getting out and voting. That is what democracy is, the chance to choose your president…in some capacity anyway. Please don’t forget that the real election takes place in the electoral college, not in your voting booths. Stop the hate, the world will not end…Wednesday will come.

bob on

Oprah has a VISION BOARD…….she has a dress picked out……I wonder what size the “visionary” is going to be and if the dress is the size that will fit her big fat enormous ummmm….ego!

You can blame Bush all you want but isn’t it your democratic congress that has helped him in his decision making. Is the president to blame or the democrats??? I think you know the real answer.

Rem on

I hope Obama wins, so that all of his supporters, and people who have high expectations of him, realize he is just as much a puppet of the system as any other President, past, present and future.

You Americans need to get a clue!!
Obama needs to win this election or else you are headed even further down into that whole you’ve been digging for 8 years.

!!!!!!!!!!!GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KC on

Who cares about Oprah’s dress. Palin is an ignorant, narrow-minded disgrace to her party and this country. If McCain had run his campaign better and also chosen Romney, he could be ahead right now. Palin’s lack of intelligence and McCain’s negative ads will hopefully cost him this election. Obama has the intelligence and even temperament to successfully lead this country. He will also help to improve our reputation abroad, which McCain and Palin could not do since philosophically they are so close to Bush.

Little Star on

Ashley,
I totally agree with you. I cant vote for someone who doesnt put his hand over his heart and his wife saying that she wasnt proud to be an american.

Im baffled as to why people are ok with this.

McCain/Palin

Rem on

It’s “hole” DA

Ann on

Yes, there is quite a bit of racism here, and it’s not from the McCain supporters. Typical of this election, if you’re not voting for Obama, then you just have to be racist. How about the fact that I work hard to earn a living, so I don’t plan on giving any more of it over in taxes for the people waiting for a government handout? That’s more than enough reason not to vote for Obama to me

Lee on

PRAY & VOTE. Read the Bible – it’s all stated right there for you to read…..it will tell you who’s going to win & what the outcome will be.
Have mercy on those that do not see the light!

TTKJ on

Doesn’t anybody realize that Obama is not going to be the first BLACK president. Last time anyone checked, he is just as much WHITE as he is black. If there is anything that will be monumental in the White House for the next four years, it will include McCain and the first female vice president Sarah Palin!!! Sorry Oprah. Still love your show.

sherri on

who care about oprah, she thinks everyone need to follow her and do what she says. that one reason i don’t watch her. she miss high and mighty, she going down with obama, then maybe she will shut her big mouth

GO MCCAIN/PALIN GO!!! and no I am not a racist because I am not voting for Obama. Could give a crap what race he is, give it a rest people and stop trying to sue the race card. I have a dear close friend who is black, a former Navy Seal and he is voting for McCcain, does that mean he is a racist aginst his own race? Obabma has lead nothing and does not have the experience to be Commander In Chief.

Oprah’s lost her God given mind. She’s let her fame and fortune get to her. She believes her own hype. I think she’s forgotten where she came from and who got her to where she is now. It’s tragic…

hate versus hope; you can feel it in the language mccain supporters use; such a nasty tone.

Dana and Roy both will look like fools when Obama wins and then they’ll be talking out of their big fat mouths.

jenniferinatlanta on

What a fat bag of air! Since when is Oprah an authority on politics or anything except her infuriatingly condesending “zen” view on life.

Brittany on

This is soo funny and such a JOKE! I don’t understand why she is even voting for this man…he is going to tax her 16 million dollars. Why would you want to give that money to the goverment when you can save that money you worked for. (well she doesn’t work that hard) Let’s go McCain-Palin! The ONLY choice!

KC on

You know, from what you are all writing about Palin, it sounds like you’re all so desperate just to see a female close to the White House that you will vote for any female. Too bad Palin is a female who doesn’t support the woman’s right to made decisions about her own body. We are one of the superpowers, not an underdeveloped nation where people tell others how to live. Give me a break! This country does NOT need her primitive, old world views in office! Also – just because McCain is a war hero does not mean he should win. Sorry, but they are TWO different issues. Bush was a coward and skipped out on war, and all of the conservatives still voted for him. GO BARRY!!!!!!!!!

Jo on

Who cares? Just like the Dixie Chicks, there’s a place and time. I didn’t go to their concerts to hear their personal opinions (because I want entertainment – duh!) and I’ve stopped watching Oprah since she turned her show in to the “Everything about Oprah Show”. I guarantee if she backed McCain, she wouldn’t have made it public. Get off your soapbox OR run for office. (Preferably in another country)

For all those people who claim for the sake of the country they hope Obama does not win.. GET A LIFE!!! For the sake of the country I hope he wins because it is about time thatAmerica embraces all its people..no matter their creed or color and Obama as president is the first step. The future is Barack Obama!!!

Lindsay on

Stefanie – Did you see the Vice Presidential debates…if you want to speak about evasiveness when answering a question, perhaps you should speak of Palin and her resorting to energy for just about every question asked. How could you vote for someone who does not believe in birth control, abstinence ONLY and furthermore does not believe in the possibility of abortion if rape or incest occurs? RAPE or INCEST! If, goodness forbid, either happened to someone you love, would you be able to bring that child into the world? Would you want your loved one to have to bear that burden?

sandra on

once again, the media has attempted to influence the election. i’m so sick of it. i’ve lost all respect for oprah and any other celebrity who finds it necessary to discuss politics, regardless of who they are supporting.

this is not a product endorsement, it’s a political race. we are not trying to decide what soda has a better flavor, we are electing the leader of the free world.

oprah, stick to what you know.

Who cares who wins? Mankind can’t do anything for our country or this world- only God has the power to do so. No matter who wins, we’ll still be living in a world where we get sick and die anyway. So if you want to support someone, don’t support man. They are imperfect and powerless; support God instead! Oh, and go read the Bible!

WOW! I hope McCain and Palin win- the liberals are sweetening the pie more with their ego’s. What a sweet victory it will be. If Barry wins… God help America!

My goodness people, it is called having faith in something you believe in. That is what a vision board is. And when you go to People.com, you are going to be reading about people like Oprah…duh.

AMEN Roy! Maybe Oprah should have been researching the issues and political histories of the candidates instead of which designer she was going to go with. She says not to cast judgement based on the color of someones skin, but isn’t that why she and many other african americans are voting for him?

L on

its a great idea to set ur goals that you want. I hope Obama/Biden wins no matter if you live in the states or anywhere else in the world. The U.S. needs a change!!!! GO OBAMA!!!

The Vision Board, the dress are all acts of Faith for the narrow minded. I find it unbelieveable that folks actually vote for a 72 1/2 year old man who will not live out a 4 year term in office.. the man can hardly walk & talk at the same time.. not to mention his predecesor has no business running for Vice President of this great Nation.

OBAMA/BIDEN ’08!!!

Oprah has been a very influential person in every aspect of the word. She’s a positive role model to women and a great supporter of human rights. I sincerely hope Obama gets the Presidency, not only because I believe in his vision for America, but so does Colin Powell. THAT speaks volumes for the integrity of Barack Obama. Of course, he may win, but if McJerk..ooops, McCain is anything like Bush (and you KNOW he is since he voted with him 90% of the time) he’ll STEAL the election too just like old GW. And what a “grand” ride the past 8 years have been with him as President. 8 years of comedian fodder…..

LET ME TELL YOU A FEW THINGS:

1. I’M AFRICAN-AMERICAN

2. I’M A WOMAN.

3. I’M FROM ILLINOIS (OBAMALAND)

4. I DON’T CARE FOR OPRAH, AT ALL!!!

5. I’M A DEMOCRAT. I ACTUALLY HAD SWITCHED OVER AND PLANNED TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN. THE MINUTE HE CHOSE PALIN AS HIS RUNNING MATE, I WAS CRUSHED!

WHY WAS I CRUSHED?

ANSWER: LET’S BE HONEST, MCCAIN IS REALLY OLD. HE’LL BARELY MAKE IT 4 YEARS, LET ALONE 8.

I DO NOT FEEL CONFIDENT THAT SARAH PALIN CAN RUN THIS COUNTRY! SHE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE AND IS NOT INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO RUN THIS COUNTRY.

I HAVE A LOT OF WHITE FRIENDS WHO ARE REPUBLICANS, AND THEY FEEL THE SAME WAY I DO! THAT THE ONLY REASON OBAMA IS GETTING THEIR VOTE IS BECAUSE WE DON’T WANT PALIN RUNNING THE COUNTRY.

IF ONLY MCCAIN HAD CHOSEN ANY OTHER EXPERIENCED REPUBLICAN…… HE WOULD HAVE HAD MY VOTE!

SO WITH A HEAVY HEART I VOTED TODAY.

I VOTED FOR OBAMA.

Exactly! Oprah needs to retire and keep her mouth shut! Of course if Barack does not get into office then we are all racist

Hey Elizabeth, have you ever heard about the HUGE population of orphans in this country?? Let’s hope that none of your loved ones or friends get raped and pregnant if idiot Palin is in office. A woman has the RIGHT to make decisions about her own body. If you do not believe that, it’s a shame. Maybe you would enjoy living in an African country where young women have no choice and still suffer through female genital mutilation.

Jenny on

LOL – I voted for him for his white half too! LOL LOL LOL. I must be sexist for not voting for Palin. Ha!

Deborah richardson on

I’m with you Sarah

Andrea on

I think the point is that we all have a right to voice our opinions. Oprah is a still a US citizen and has the same right we all do to verbally support our candidate. In this case, she got it right. What America does not need is more WASPy, patriarchal rhetoric. And even worse, that vile woman from Alaska who cannot even control or run her own household let alone our country. McCain is a facade of who he used to be in 2000. OBAMA for educated and well-informed Americans. Look at the political map, the most uneducated and lowest earning states vote for the Republicans! Go figure.

merry on

Does Oprah really think she has that much control?

Yeah Go Obama. Go the half of you with your white power. If you weren’t half white, I wouldn’t have voted for ya.

McCain looks like a squirrel that stuffed too many nuts into his mouth, and as far as I’m concerned one of those nuts is Sarah Palin.Obama is of superior intellect and his time has come, so all you redneck republicans listen up: You better get used to the new reality ’cause it has arrived.

For all the idoits who want McCain to win you need to see the wizard for a brain. Do you have kids or family members fighting a war? Are you willing to sign up and dodge bullets? Too many men and women have died in this war. Since you want McCain to win, you can pack up and serve your country fighting a war. If you make it back in one piece you can talk. By the way I’m a veteran and already served my country and had enough the BS.

KC on

Kricket, way to be ignorant. You sound like Cheney. So the Democrats are at fault since they have had control of Congress for TWO years??? Well, what about the last 8 YEARS and all of those BILLIONS of dollars that Bush needed to conduct his unnecessary war???? Let’s not forget about that, folks. You republicans like to forget about all of that money that could have been spent domestically. And BTW, I live in Alaska, and Palin’s son did NOT deploy on Sept 11th. He deployed a few days later. Once again…they tried their best to connect 9-11 to this “war on terror” or whatever W is calling it now. DISGUSTING.

Peace Please on

It’s really sad, so sad it makes my stomach sick to see how hateful the comments are from the people that speak of god. Most of the people voting for Obama sound positive and excited while, the McCain voters sounds scary and angry. Why so much hate?! And it’s even more sad how the people that say look past the color are the people who think that the only reason people are voting for Obama is because he is black. If anything that has sadly been an obstacle for him. For those people that haven’t done their research and are just going by he-said-she said please do your research…Although at this point whether you like it or not it really looks like Obama is going to be our new next President. Just pray that he means what he says and it all works out for the best. But atleast if you inform yourself about his policies and stop worrying about rumors you will know what he is really all about. God bless America and who evers hands it ends up in. Good luck Obama…and my deepest regards for the lost of your grandmother. Peace everyone Peace….

Obama/Bidden ’08

Obama/Biden '08 on

First of all Oprah is a smart, bright, giving person who knows what is going on in the world. She has helped many people around the world as well. So to call her an idiot and that she let’s her fame and fortune get to her head is absurd. She knows where she comes from and she knows who was there for all of her life. My goodness doesn’t anybody remember what she did for families in Louisiana when Katrina happenend. She also helped woman who were pregnant while their husbands and boyfriends fought the war in Iraq. She helped children around the world. I mean the list goes on. So if she believes that Obama will win this race and go out and buy a dress then all power to her. It’s her choice of who she chooses. So everyone should get off their high horse and worry about what is really happening in our world today and what will happen in the future. It is sad how everyone is being so harsh towards each other. Everyone should focus on what really matters. Like brining home our troops. I know many people who are in the war and that has died, one of them was my ex boyfriend. He was blown up by land mine but things like that doesn’t matter only Oprah buying a dress. So Please Stop the Hatred and worry about what really matters.

Faye on

Saying that my comparing Bush to McCain is the same as comparing Malcom X with Obama is beyond ignorant. McCain proudly voted with Bush 90% of the time. The only think Obama has in common with Malcom X is race. I really can’t think of a applicable word and am sure the person who posted that stupidity can’t help. I am beginning to hate the internet and am looking for a candidate who will push for restrictions on the use of the internet by the stupid.

Apryl on

WOW is what i say to all of the commentary. It saddens me we are so judgmental to the point we are disrespectful. I personally do not know either candidate and I doubt any of you do who have left your POVs here. At some point we all have to put the negativity aside and respect the differences. I’m sure their are commonalities amongst all of us regardless of race, party affiliation, gender etc…. Let me first say I did not vote for McCain and my main reason is b/c he represents an era that I long to see this country move away from. It is 2008 folks, we have a diverse country which that diversity makes us such a great place but we also have so much disrespect for those who do not fit into what we deem to be ‘right’, somehow we always seem to know what is best for someone else…i.e. abortion(we assume if we bring God into it, it validates our POV) I ask what about those who do not believe in God?? We always seem to approach things as if every American shares the same religious belief…we must begin to be inclusive of those who are different whether it be diff in race, opinion, physical ailments etc.. No two people think exactly alike and we must govern with an ability embrace ALL people. Regardless of who you vote for, just vote b/c you can and in some places across the world people do not have this right/privilege.
Although I voted for Obama, I can also respect someone’s decision for voting for McCain. Its called choice and it is your choice to make.

AS for his race being a topic of discussion. It was his white family members who shaped and instilled in him what he stands for today. His father played a very small role in his life which was he basically provided the sperm. So I salute his family (his mom, grandpa and grandmother) b/c they seem to have done an awesome job. To categorize him as African American or Black, discredits those who molded and shaped him into who he is today.

I will pose the question to those who say Obama is not qualified. What has McCain accomplished in his 20+ years in the senate? What has he done to demonstrate he brings new ideas, new vision and an ability to embrace ALL people in those 20+ years? What has he done to show he can be innovative with the times, b/c times have changed since he was a POW!! Length of time serving does not equate to quality and effectiveness, please keep that in mind.

Ant on

Mary- How does Palin care about babies when she kicked her daughter out to go live with her sister when she found out her daughter was pregnant.

How can Palin care about babies when she is traveling the world and her mentally retarded child is not seeing her around because is being taken care of by a nanny because the child can’t take traveling around so much?

Gramma FE on

As a 78 year old Black Woman. I have ridden in the back of the bus, drunk “colored water”, and have been denied access to restaurants and theaters.

I want our BABIES, men and women, who happen to be black, white, black/white back from Iraq and Afganistan and all the other places where they are in harms way. No one complained about their racial background when they were sent into an illegal war. I commend Senator McCain for his heroics in the war, however, he wants to remain in a war that is bleeding us dry. To add insult to injury, he chose a woman who would set womankind back 50 years, I have to question his judgement.

I’ve seen WWII, Korea, Vietnam and now this. Enough already, stop killing our children for imagined slights and affronts.

I think that Barak Obama will move us in the right direction.

However, whatever your choice. VOTE and then prepare to close ranks, behind whomever wins, and bring our great country back to greatness.

Thanks for reading this, waitng for comments.

Remember, be good to yourselves, at least once a day.
