BREAKING NEWS: Alexander McQueen to Design for Target!

MJ Kim/Getty

Everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker (who famously wore swirling green McQueen to the London premiere of SATC) to Victoria Beckham and Gwyneth Paltrow has long been in love with British designer Alexander McQueen’s edgy take on elegance. But come this March, you won’t need their superstar salaries to get a piece of his aesthetic. Target has just announced to WWD that they will launch Designer Collaborations, a new initiative that will bring well-established designers to the masses — and they’ll kick things off with McQ Alexander McQueen for Target. While full details are yet to come, they have revealed that the line will feature items with the designer’s signature rock ‘n’ roll edge, including tattoo-print fabrics and studs. Tell us: Will are you excited to see what McQueen designs for Target?

Mary

YES YES YES! Alexander McQueen is the BIGGEST designer to do Target.

Did he design the head thingy? SJP is an odd dresser. She wears a tank top with a pink tutu. This is fashion? Target is for average people. I cann’t wear stuff like that to work.

jennifer

YES!! I am SO excited for the Alexander McQueen line! I love SJP’s dress and I can’t wait for March, I’ll probably buy the entire line!

kp

holy crap! no way!

rebecca

OMG!!! This better not be a joke. Because I’m going to cry when I see his designs for Target… tears of joy, of course. =)

Beck

YES! YES! YES!! I cannot wait for this collection.

bubblegum

Yay! I usually don’t buy any Target clothes (even though they are sooo cute!) because I live practically on top of Target Corporation in Minneapolis. Everyone and their mother (literally) buys their stuff there. But, this might be worth the risk of having the same thing as everyone else!

Barack is president and I get to wear Alexander McQueen life is beautiful

This is great news!!! I am very excited! I hope that his designs are more flattering than Isaac Mizrahi.

Emily

It’ll be nice to see what they put out, but the quality is usually so poor on these designer collaborations. It’s trully not worth much.

Midge

Yay for Alexander McQueen at Target! FYI, the hate Sarah Jessica Parker is wearing in the photo is not by McQueen, it is by famous London hat designer Philip Treacy.

Midge

Oops, I meant HAT not hate! My personal feelings toward it must have come out, lol.

CK

Oh good, now that I know that the hat was not designed by McQueen, then yes, I am excited he will sell at Target. The dress is cute.

Tarjay has always been one of my fave places for cheap chic couture! But I’m kind of bummed that they haven’t done more with high-low designer footwear, like payless. I’ve found some McQ(ish) shoes to tide me over though: http://www.fantastictoe.com/dcdiva/cheap-chic-practice-your-brit-slang-get-the-alexander-mcqueen-look.html
