The Scoop on Paris Hilton's London Shopping Spree

10/31/2008 at 11:20 AM ET

Before jetting back to the U.S.A. (she left London yesterday), Paris Hilton made sure to stock up on some British favorites. The heiress — who spent a month in London shooting her British Best Friend reality TV show — hit the boutiques in Notting Hill with pals Lamis Khamis and Sam Pemberton of Secret Circus Clothing, which launched earlier this year — Hilton has been spotted in London wearing the label’s $1,000 “Royal Highness” sweater. The trio hit celeb favorite Coco Ribbon, where Hilton’s haul included the shop’s own brand cashmere berets and wrist warmers, a black “Lexi” top, a $650 floor length blue silk chiffon “Saskia” dress, a $698 short blue flapper “Fringe” dress, a $430 tiered blue one-shouldered “Manhattan” dress, a $470 little black “Garbo” dress, and a $630 pewter sequin “Twinkle” dress. She also picked up a pair of $312 Love from Australia classic black long Ugg boots. She then hit Questionair, where she picked up more dresses and Secret Circus cashmere hoodies. Then the shopped-out heiress and pals hit Bumpkin restaurant and relaxed over a two-hour lunch. –– Courtney Rubin

How pathetic…she spends all this money on stuff she doesn’t need when children are starving in Africa and there are refugees in Afghanistan. Why even publish a story like this? This is pathetic, PEOPLE mag. Who actually cares what Paris bought? Showcase stories that actually matter, like Angelina Jolie going to Afghanistan.

This magazine is about CELEBRITIES – dont like it? Then don’t read it… go grab yourself some National Geographics instead…

PS if you’re so concerned about kids starving in Africa then why are you sitting on the comp reading PEOPLE MAG articles on Paris Hilton? LOL ooookay

I think Paris is wonderful and people should stop moaning about her shopping….miserable gits….go get a life and go on a shopping spree. If I was Paris I would shop even more…Why can’t she? Her responsibilty is not Africa. Leave that to the politicians. I’m sure Paris does her bit for charity too. She is young and let her enjoy it.
ps I love the outfit!!!!

If I had a quarter for every time I hear “starving kids in Africa” I could quit my job and live comfortably for the rest of my life.

Seriously, people. Not only is that argument now known and stupid because it IS known but also it is impractical and has NOTHING to do with people shopping. She has money, you don’t. She’s going to shop with it; you aren’t. Stop bagging on others when they live their lives; I seriously doubt you’re doing anything about starving children in Africa. And besides, people like Paris buying outrageously priced things boosts the economy. Didn’t you know?

Wow, Lola sounds insensitive! She should try out for Paris’ BFF show. Some people care about the starving children in Africa Lola, you don’t, but some people do!

As far as Hilton’s shopping, I guess it’s ok if she can afford it. I love clothes too, so I would spend that and more. I’m jealous, I admit it!!

If I had that kind of money I would totally spend like that. That’s what rich people do. However, I think rich people have a greater obligation to give to the poor since they have more money to spare. Everyone should give equally, yeah, but they can just donate more cash than the average person.

I love the dress. What is the name of the designer? Normally I do not care for the styles she wears. This however is elegant.
