Meet Lancome’s Newest Face: Arlenis Sosa

Courtesy Lancome

Just in time to kick off fashion week, Lancome announces the newest spokesmodel to join their roster of famous faces that includes Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet and Juliette Binoche. 19-year-old Arlenis Sosa was a featured model in Italian Vogue’s famous “Black Issue” from this past July, and will make her runway debut this week, walking in more than a dozen shows, including Oscar de la Renta, Donna Karan, Carolina Herrera, Proenza Schouler, Zac Posen, Narciso Rodriguez and Tommy Hilfiger. The Dominican-born beauty, who will begin appearing in ads in 2009, couldn’t be more thrilled about her new position with the French beauty brand, saying “I feel so honored and lucky. Lancome is an amazing brand so this is a dream come true.” Tell us: What do you think of Lancome’s decision to make Arlenis for their latest spokesmodel?

It’s refreshing to see a young African-Hispanic woman be celebrated for her beauty in the cosmetic world. I will make it a point to stop by Lancome’s counter.

Latinas are the most beautiful, sexy, and dynamic women in the world…because we have so many racial–ethnic–cultural–religious roots, and I’m so glad that many of our Latina women are rockin’ it in modeling, politics, academia…the list goes on and on ;)

porque la mujer Latina no camina, desfila :)

OMG!!!!!!!!
This is shocking but wonderful news!
Arlenis was only discovered very recently, so I’m surprised that Lancome snapped her up so soon. But it’s an amazing brand to land a contract with, so good for her!
I am very excited to see all of her work, and hooray for models (not celebrities!) getting chosen for cosmetics brands again!

Cristina

ditto to cassandra’s comment. I will be stopping at Lancome’s counter very soon to support a company that showcases diversity!
