Katie Holmes’s Surprise Dress Designer: Herself!

Steve Granitz/WireImage

After turning heads with her new casual chic in New York, Katie Holmes returned to her usually glamorous self at the Tropic Thunder red carpet in Los Angeles. Vince Flores/Celebrity Photo

Thakoon Panichgul joins the likes of Richard Chai, Rogan and others as the next limited-edition designer for Target’s GO International line. The designer who is known for his mixing of prints and modernized minimalism is set to release his collection at Target stores nationwide and on Target.com in late December. Thakoon’s designs will be on the floor for most of the month of January. Before designing his namesake line, Thakoon worked as a merchandizer at J.Crew and writer at Harper’s Bazaar. We love Thakoon’s simple structures and vintage looking prints, as do stars like Amanda Peet, Joy Bryant and Tracee Ellis Ross. Tell us: Are you excited for the Thakoon/ Target collaboration?

UPDATE:Cult favorite design team Hayden-Harnett are also signing on to partner with Target for a limited edition handbag line to be available at most Target stores nationwide and at Target.com from December 28, 2008 through March 8, 2009. So much for post-holiday blues!

Cousart/Ramirez/Rios/JFX; RD/Leon/Retna

When we first spotted Christina Aguilera on a photoshoot with wild hair, we chalked it up to an over-the-top editorial look. But when Tyra Banks hit the streets of N.Y.C. to tape her show with a bevy of gorgeous models in perfectly crimped hair, our worst suspicions were confirmed — along with pegged jeans and neon colors, the ’80s revival is bringing back crimped hair. We retired our crimping irons with our scunchies and fingerless lace gloves a long time ago, but considering that we’ve even seen this trend on the haute couture runways of Paris, we might not have a choice! Tell us: Will you crimp your hair? Do you like the look?
