Jessica Simpson Adds Dresses to Her Fashion Empire

Soul Brother/FilmMagic

Hot on the heels of announcements that we’ll soon be able to smell like Jessica Simpson with a spritz of her fragrance Fancy, and slip into her signature undergarments, the singer has just revealed that we’ll also be able to dress like her. WWD reports that the star has inked a deal for a full line of dresses slated to launch in Spring 2009 in department and specialty stores. “I’m extremely excited,” she tells WWD. “I plan on creating beautiful dresses in distinctive fabrics and silhouettes that are reflective of my personal style.” Even if she couldn’t tell the difference between chicken and tuna, she’s turned out to be extremely business savvy. We can already get a piece of the singer through her successful lines of eyewear, purses, jewelry, clip-in hair extensions, bath and body care products, outerwear and footwear — with the shoe line alone estimated to pull in a quarter-billion dollars this year. Tell us: What do you think of Jessica’s decision to expand her style empire with a dress collection? Will you wear the frocks?

Let’s be honest she is making more money then most of us so she is obviously doing something right. Who cares which way she chooses to make it.

I would definitely wear her new dresses! You all complain that it’s a “Jessica Empire” but you don’t give her any credit! Her shoes are gorgeous and her purses are awesome too!

I like what I have seen from her so far (shoes and bags) so I will definately check the dress line out. If it has cute dresses in styles that will fit me I can’t see why I wouldn’t buy it. Plus she seems nice a nice person. At least she smiles unlike many girls in Hollywood.

Why is that if someone has a less than favorable opinion on someone, they are “losers” or “jealous”? If that was the case, then I would “hate” all people richer, more attractive, or who happened to stumble on to pure luck, like this talentless girl. What I really can’t stand is someone who sells poor quality items and marks up the price simply because they are attaching their names on the brand. Ahem, Lauren Conrad. I also do not care for insecure celebrities who are incapable of being a unique individual and who will morph into whatever they think will help sell their “image”. Let’s see, I’m on reality tv, I will play the naive ditz, now I’m going through a divorce, so I will travel to Africa to help with deformities, now I am dating John Mayer, I will be the laid back rocker chic, now I am dating a football player, suddenly I’m a huge sports fan, now I can’t sell a pop album, so I will be the good ole country girl wearing cowboy boots and endorsing eating meat. GIVE ME A BREAK!

Great comment Carla! All true.

I’m with Carla too – and if I remember correctly about a year ago, I made almost identical comments regarding Jessica Simpson after an article in People.com at that time. I said that I too, could not figure out why this talentless girl was being shoved in our faces every 5 seconds for doing absolutely nothing remarkable and contributing little to society for the ‘money’ she’s made by letting her old man sell her out. And for my honest opinion, boy was everyone mad at me! I thought ’so much for free speech’. But now, looking at the majority of comments here today, I feel quite validated now, a year later, thank you very much. Where has everybody been all this time? As the saying goes, better late than never!
