Kitson Drops Lauren Conrad’s Clothing Line

Clark Samuels/startraks

Lauren Conrad may be expanding her eponymous design line — recently previewing Holiday, Fall/Winter and Resort collections as well as discussing a possible shoe line — but not everyone is buying it. Kitson owner Fraser Ross has dropped Conrad’s line from his well-known Robertston Boulevard boutique, citing flagging sales coupled with a lack of support on Conrad’s side. Ross tells PEOPLE, “Celebrity clothing lines are a tough sell as it is, and you have to promote your line just as you would an album or a TV show.” And as Ross points out, it’s not that Kitson is inaccesible for Conrad. “Lauren has been on Robertson three times since her clothing line launched but she couldn’t pop by to say hello to the sales staff that sell her line to her fans.” Ross’s advice to Conrad on how to succeed in fashion reasonates to all of her fellow celeb designers. He explains, “You have got to make your clients and customers happy because you are competing against a lot of talented designers in the industry.” Tell us: Have you bought L.C.’s clothing line?

I give Lauren Conrad props for making the decision to have all of her clothes manufactured in the USA. She could have chosen to have the items manufactured overseas and sold them at half the price while earning a higher profit marger. However, she made the tough business decison to sacrifice proft while maintaning quality standards and contributing to the US economy. She’s created fun, flirty staples that young adults can invest in and wear for more than one season. I hope she continues to prove that it is possible to earn a living doing what you love without sacrificing your values!

I have to agree with India, her clothes are pretty generic looking. The materials and the design can’t justify the price. You can find clothes like that 10x cheaper at Forever Twenty One. It’s true. Why pay $300 for a dress when you can pay a reasonable $30 for one? Maybe if there was something particularly unique about the design, I’d buy something. She needs to put real work into her designs instead of doodling for 5 minutes.

Lauren just give up, your designer skills suck. not to be mean but that is just something you have to be born with, do not even try again. You might make it maybe at the very least if you rip off other peoples designs but you are going to embarass yourself. just face it, you arent a creative person.

I love her clothing line, but it is way over priced… you can get almost the exact same thing at Ross for like 100 dollars less… :(
