Kitson Drops Lauren Conrad’s Clothing Line

Clark Samuels/startraks

Lauren Conrad may be expanding her eponymous design line — recently previewing Holiday, Fall/Winter and Resort collections as well as discussing a possible shoe line — but not everyone is buying it. Kitson owner Fraser Ross has dropped Conrad’s line from his well-known Robertston Boulevard boutique, citing flagging sales coupled with a lack of support on Conrad’s side. Ross tells PEOPLE, “Celebrity clothing lines are a tough sell as it is, and you have to promote your line just as you would an album or a TV show.” And as Ross points out, it’s not that Kitson is inaccesible for Conrad. “Lauren has been on Robertson three times since her clothing line launched but she couldn’t pop by to say hello to the sales staff that sell her line to her fans.” Ross’s advice to Conrad on how to succeed in fashion reasonates to all of her fellow celeb designers. He explains, “You have got to make your clients and customers happy because you are competing against a lot of talented designers in the industry.” Tell us: Have you bought L.C.’s clothing line?

If she wanted to be respected as a clothing designer, she should have displayed that on her tv show. All she does anymore is go out and flirt with boys and surround herself with drama. She has barely spoken about a love for fashion since “The Hills” began 3 years ago. Her line is super expensive, and for what reason? The clothing is not that inventive. I’m so glad to hear this line was dropped…it was doomed from the start.

Amber

I’d love to buy her line. I actually like some of the pieces, but there is NO WAY in hell that I’m paying those prices. My advice to Lauren is to make your clothes affordable!! Not everyone pays a hundred bucks for a shirt.

Overpriced

LC your clothes are way too overpriced and unoriginal. Please consider doing something like Heidi, good stuff, good prices.

Listen, first Lauren Conrad is not an actress let alone designer! Please! Work hard? Right! She doesn’t know what it is to work “hard” – C’mon – like it’s difficult going to work everyday like normal people do. My family is in theater, and those are the hard working people, going on stage singing and dancing day in and day out worrying about whether their voices and bodies will withstand all the hard work. To sit around on a set, with embarrassing dialogue written for you, and get paid for it, is something she and that idiot heidi montag should thank God for on a daily basis.

And I beg to differ with the person who said it is dialogue written for unintelligent teens….my daughter is 13, extremely more mature than this cast, and wouldn’t waste a minute of time watching such immaturity and ignorance. I cannot believe these actors actually get paid for doing ridiculous things and acting stupid. If stupid was the criteria for getting on the show, then they casted brilliantly.

Give up fashion Lauren – your clothes look like Togas and would be perfect for the toga scene in Animal House….If you want to do fashion, and I don’t know what your background is, then apply to FIT or Pratt or Rhode Island School of Design and get off the TV since it is such “hard work”.

Tina…you want to help out poor Lauren Conrad now that her lame clothing line has been tossed? GET YOUR OWN LIFE ALREADY. With losers like you living vicariously through these un-accomplished nobodies it’s not hard to see how they get so popular so quickly for DOING NOTHING. Pathetic. It’s so funny…here in NYC these clothes are a laughing joke.

Lisa

Not a chance. They aren’t anything interesting, and are overpriced. I have to agree with the majority.

Plus, sorry LC, but Heidi has you on this one. Her clothes are way better looking AND priced.

Rae

Lauren’s clothes are too expensive if she is trying to sell her clothes to her fans. She has to realize that all or most of her fans are not rich and does NOT live in Beverly Hills therefore, she needs to take it down a knotch.

Kitson Sale Staff Rude

Have shopped at Kitson on Robertson probably 4x this year, and every time the salespeople are not existent, and the cashiers have the “can’t be bothered” attitude. Every time I buy something there, I say to myself, “never again.” I went to the Kitson warehouse sale down the street a couple of weeks ago, and saw Lauren Conrad’s clothing on clearance (not selling at the markdown prices, either). The clothing line was clearly overpriced for the quality. And Kitson is right, Lauren didn’t promote the line. So, in my book, both Kitson’s owner, Ross, and Lauren Conrad are both in the wrong.

I would not buy anything from her clothing line because theres nothing special about the pieces. I’m sure Lauren Conrad wouldn’t wear it, I think Heidi clothing line looks better. It was a good try but I think that she needs to stick with reality television.

Rashida

I haven’t purchased any of her clothes either. They are nice, but plain. Subduded. I like that “Audrina” dress. I think that her goods are priced too high for what they are, plain dresses.
