Audrey Tautou’s Newest Role: Face of Chanel

She’s already one of the world’s most accomplished actresses, and now Audrey Tautou is being recognized as one of it’s most beautiful. Chanel has just announced that they’ve chosen the French star to be the face of their classic No. 5 fragrance in 2009, following in the footsteps of the brand’s current ambassador Nicole Kidman. And just as Kidman’s renown short film for the fragrance was directed by her Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrman, Tautou’s new role also will tap into her cinematic past. Director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who directed the actress in the acclaimed films Amelie and The Long Engagement, will direct the star in a short movie for the campaign, which we’re sure will be just as chic as Kidman’s — with a touch of Parisian flair.

REALLY? Catherine Deneuve, Nicole Kidman, and . . . Audrey Tautou?? I find her super-annoying and not half as beautiful as her fabulous predecessors. I’m totally underwhelmed.

chanel made the perfect choice! audrey is so lovely… classically beautiful and full of natural french flair! i’m excited to see the commercial directed by jean-pierre jeunet, too!

Okay, I’m embarassed to admit I have no idea who she is. But I do have 2 teenage boys so if I get to see a movie, you can bet it is an action flick. But really, they usually pick someone who is a little more high profile.
