Move Over Posh! Mel B. Turns Designer.

Victoria Beckham isn’t the only Spice Girl to branch out into fashion. Melanie “Mel B” Brown debuted her Catty Couture Fall 2008 line at the California Market Center in downtown LA on April 7. While her fellow Spice Girls have not yet seen the designs, which feature high-waisted skirts, leggings, tank tops, and lots of leopard print, Brown tells PEOPLE, “We’re all really supportive of each other.” While some of the pieces lean toward the skimpier side, that’s nothing compared to her other venture: a Brazilian bikini line. “That’s been under wraps for many years because I just wear it,” she says of the designs, handmade by a woman in Brazil. As for this new feline-inspired line, the singer tells PEOPLE, “I’m so excited! It got pulled together quickly, really quickly. To actually see it, yeah, [it is] amazing.” And her favorite pieces from the line — her own outfit! “The high-waisted leather skirt and the jacket that I wore are my favorite pieces. It’s just that you can never go wrong with a leather, black high-waisted skirt. It goes with everything. It makes everything look clean and sexy.”

I’m sure real designers are shaking in their boots. Mel B and Couture is an oxymoron.

Umm…. you can go wrong with that skirt, and she did. This high-waist look is ridiculous – I don’t care who you are – and her hemline falls at a weird length. Nothing against her, but I don’t see this line being terribly popular.

Oh great! another “celebrity” who knows nothing about fashion design making a line…i guess i will need to go on a reality show or make a sex tape in order to make my own fashion designer dream come true :(

I Love Mel B and am sure her line will be great. Love her outfit, very cute.

And where will this line be in 5 years? Down the drainpipe, along with every other celebrity and quasi-celebrity clothing line that already exists. But seriously, what are those clothes? They look like those cheaply made pieces of cloth you find in airport discount stores. Well, at least we know with this line that she designed it herself…

Wow – black & white, gold and animal print. How creative(insert sarcasm). Honestly any animal print clothing is very ugly to me. I would never wear it. Cheap, tacky and very Fredrick’s of Hollywood. I know some big designers use it but there are so many more attractive & pretty choices of prints to use.

Move over real designers, that spent money and time studying for it. All semi-celebrities are cashing in and taking your jobs!At this point whoever believes that this is purely wrong should just not buy any piece of clothing that wasn’t designed by a real designer.
