Do You Sacrifice Comfort for Fashion?

Jeff Harris

When it comes to shoes, we’re equal-opportunity shoppers. From flats and wedges to stilettos and booties, we love them all. But if we had to pick our favorite style, it’d have to be platform pumps, which get five stars for fashion and comfort. They give you all the sexiness of a heel with the cushion of height so you’re not pounding the pavement. But if we forgot about our aching feet (and our bank accounts) for a second and wanted to make the ultimate shoe splurge, we’d go for Sergio Rossi’s bold studded leather sphere-heel sandals, $816. These fashion-forward heels may not have comfort in mind, but they’ll certainly add a punch to your wardrobe. Tell us: When it comes to shoes, how often do you sacrifice comfort for fashion?

Sophia Bush: Fashion Week’s Busiest Girl

Bondareff/AP; Allocca/Touchstone Pictures/Startracks; Gritzinger/FilmMagic

Sophia Bush is always a familiar face at Fashion Week — remember when she wore five outfits in one day last fall? — but this year, the One Tree Hill star seemed to defy space and time by making it to more shows than anyone! (We stopped counting at 10!) From her sexy turn at Herve Leger, which she called “a really, really sensual line,” to turning up to a dinner honoring Rihanna in a Ports 1961 one-shouldered dress, to hitting Catherine Malandrino’s show in one of the designer’s purple dresses, Sophia was perfectly turned out everywhere she went. Having sat behind her at more than one show, we can vouch first-hand how flawless she looks (especially her skin!). But we think we’ve stumbled onto one of her secrets for looking so good — we hear she stopped by the Spanx Suite while in town and stocked up on slimming undergarments, including the new Slim Cognito Cami. After all, those fabulous dinners and cocktail parties catch up to everyone!

The Scoop on Miley Cyrus’s Glam Grammy Look!

John Shearer/WireImage

You can’t help but notice that Miley Cyrus is turning into quite the fashionista these days. With her newly brunette hair and fabulous flirty dresses, the Hannah Montana star is conquering the red carpet as rapidly as the multiplex. We were so wowed by her Grammy look that we went to her stylist Tara Swennen for the inside scoop. Swennen tells us that her starting point was Miley’s new darker hair. “It’s still sort of a drastic change, especially from the blond Hannah Montana,” she says, “so we’re trying to lighten things up for her major red carpet events.” Hence the white Celine dress — and the mandatory sparkles. “Obviously she really likes sequins — she is still 15!” laughs Swennen. But that doesn’t mean that she won’t be trying more sophisticated looks. Swennen tells PEOPLE that Miley “likes to rock out and try new things,” and that we can expect to see more of an edge in her clothing choices, taking cues from style icons like Ashlee Simpson. “She’s a rock star, and that’s what we’re going to see a lot more of this year.”
