Get the Look: Ellen Pompeo's Soft SAG Beauty
For Ellen Pompeo‘s cool-toned makeup look, Physician’s Formula celebrity makeup artist Joanna Schlip began by using Armani Silk Luminous Foundation no. 4, $55, as a base. She then patted Cle de Peau Concealer no. 2 under her eyes. A pop of Physicians Formula Organic Wear in Pink Organics, $11.95, available at mass-market and drugstores nationwide, gave Pompeo a fresh glow. Although Pompeo has green eyes, Schlip used a Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips palette, $12, for blue eyes. She started by lightly lining along the top lash with Physician’s Formula Liquid Felt-Tip Eye Marker in Warm Black, $7, then sweeping a mix of the medium and dark Shimmer Strips shades in a windshield wiper motion across the lid. Using the same shimmer shadow, she lined beneath the bottom lashes. She finished the eyes with a Shiseido lash curler, $18, and two coats of Prescriptives False Eyelashes Plush Mascara in black. Joanna then lined Ellen’s lips with MAC nude pencil in Subculture, $13, filling in with Physician’s Formula Plump Palette in Mauves, $8. After blotting the lips, she finished with clear gloss.
To create Ellen Pompeo’s modern, hip up-do, Harry Josh, Creative Consultant for the John Frieda Collection, relied on John Frieda products to get a look “like she rolled out of bed, put on a $10,000 dress and heels and just left.” Because of the humid conditions of the day, Josh began by washing Ellen’s hair with Weather Works by Frizz-Ease Weather-Proofing Shampoo and Conditioner, $6, then smoothing on a dab of the Weather Works by Frizz-Ease Weather-Proofing Style Sealant Creme, $6, to control frizz. He then toweled-dried, blowing it dry using his fingers while building up volume with Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Hairspray, $6. He teased the hair slightly at the crown. Then, instead of a typical bun, he created an asymmetrical side bun, leaving the ends loose, instead of hiding all the neatness on the inside. Lastly, he smoothed out the hairline with a blow dryer and hand-picked a few pieces to stick out.
