I say Lucy pulls the look off
To be fashion forward you have to try things that doesn’t always look “right.”
Yeah like Hallie said, if Cameron Diaz, (someone taller wore it) it would look better(actually cam doesn’t have the attitude)

but i DONT think she looks like a rolled up marshmellow- the fact that the cape is a pastel pink while the valentino is a bold purple, actually helps draw the eye up and down- lengthening her body- as it acts as a fashionable savy background.

Plus she wears it off the shoulders showing off her gorgeous neckline and collarbone which is slimming.
I Say PROPS to Lucy and her stylist- I can’t think of a better way to take such a High fashion item and make it work for everyday.

Some runway looks were not meant to be worn in real life. The purple dress is fine, but the pink thing is just over the top. It might have looked *okay* on a super tall, skinny type over a neutral colored dress…but it looks awful on Lucy. And what is with that cross-body strap that is cutting into her decolletage?

She just got herself a slot on the top 100 celebrity fashion faux pas list. I think she is far too petite for that cape. Compare her to the model, who is likely 5′11″ or more. It just swallows her up.
The dress alone would have been enough, why add more?

I think people are forgetting that she wore it to Valentino’s couture show where he announced his retirement. The outfit is a tribute to Valentino and wasn’t meant to be “wearable.” I think she looks cute, playful, and very appropriate for the occasion. If I saw her walking down the street, then I’d say she looks crazy.

The dress and the cape don’t work well together. The dress is amazing. The cape is very fashion forward and it will look good with a long slimming dress because its a bit bulky. The way Lucy has put them together-the proportions are not good, the lenght on both is the same and turns her into a ball-like shape.

Sometimes designers make clothes that make a statement or reflect a trend, with little concern for actual wearability of the garment. I love the look of this on the runway, but I don’t think the average person is supposed to wear that, and if you will, you better have the right height and figure to work it. She just can’t pull it off. But, what a lovely pink flotation device.

I agree with our previous posters – SJP she is not! She’s no where nearly as likeable as Sarah Jessica either. The dress is very pretty, the puffy coat is interesting in a fashiony way but not really wearable in the real world and it overwhelms Lucy’s small frame.

I actually like the two pieces better together than I like the cacoon with the pink dress! Cacoon with the pink dress is too monochromatic (Paris, anyone?), plus I like the wear Lucy wears it off her shoulders than around the neck.
