Met Costume Institute Goes to the Blogs

courtesy Costume Institute

If you love talking about fashion as much as we do, then you’ll be thrilled to hear about the new blog that has style hounds buzzing. The Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute (famed for their yearly celeb-studded bash) wants our thoughts on the newest, most stunning additions to their world famous closet. Their new exhibition, called “blog.mode: addressing fashion”, features a blog that asks for viewer participation — both in the museum and on the web. Can’t visit the Institute’s priceless works of fashion in person? Then be sure to post your comments on 18th century gowns and contemporary masterpieces from designers like Olivier Theyskens and John Galliano at metmuseum.org.

Get the Look: Marion Cotillard’s Smoky Eyes

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

La Vie en Rose star (and Golden Globe nominee) Marion Cotillard sparkled at the Critics Choice Awards — makeup artist Pati Dubroff says she was inspired by the starlet’s gorgeous blue eyes and wanted to create a soft grey winged eye to really make them stand out. For Marion’s shimmery smoky eyes, she used Dior’s 5-Colour Palette in Night Dust, $52. She smudged the shimmery black shade around her lashline, brushed the silvery shadow onto the lids and pressed the iridescent white into the inner corner. She added the 1-Colour Powder Eyeshadow in Silver Dust, $24, to her lids for additional sparkle. Dubrof added extra drama to her eyes by rimming them with Dior Crayon Eyeliner in Black, $24, and coating her lashes in DiorShow in Black, $23. To balance out the look, Dubrof brushed a light pink highlighter onto her cheeks and swiped light shiny Rouge Dior in Gala Pink, $26, onto her lips.
